...what? Why.

Literally the only link I can see is, "Fighting evil by moonlight" but then vampires can't win love by daylight.

If you want to do Magical Girls or something and don't want to...urgh, I dunno, use the Magical-Girl-Homebrew-Thing...then why wouldn't Mages or Changelings or Prometheans (who save the day and then move on because if they stick around people will hate them) or...honestly literally every other splat be the go-to pick rather than vampires?

Are you saying that that huge Ogre Changeling doesn't look good in a frilly magical girl dress? Aww, now you've made her cry. You monster.

I like the BESM system and I like Sailor Moon, so why not?

I could totally see the Sailor Scouts helping the Ordo Dracul and the Circle of Crone fight those Lancea Sanctum bastards! Or the Invictus being in league with Queen Beryl's Dark Kingdom. The Senshi would not be vampires, but they would interact with them and other supernaturals as well.

I think it's cool. You may not like it, but I do.

And of course, there would be Sailor Moon with Changeling as well. Sailor Moon is a big part of my homebrewed New World of Darkness.

As I said above, Mage, Changeling, and Werewolf, while definitely not being magical girl anime, share more themes with (darker) magical girl animes then vampire does.

I mean, it still doesn't share many themes, but there's at least some common ground between "Spirit Cop Werewolves" and "Demon/Monster/whatever Cop Magical Girls."

Don't you have a Sisters of Mercy concert to attend? This is MY WoD, done MY way.
I'm glad you enjoy it. Really, I am, at the end of the day what matters is that you and your table find fulfilling enjoyment in what you play.

But this is the White Wolf's World of Darkness thread, not the Paulie Romanov's World of Darkness thread. There is a certain expectation, as peculiar as it may seem, that what is discussed here should in some way resemble the world that is portrayed in the books.

Fuck the themes. The magical girls interact with all the splats. Vampires, Mages, Werewolves, Changelings, etc.

I like my games to be more Anime and Metal, and less Gothic-Punk.

More Iron Maiden and InuYasha, less Sisters of Mercy and Bauhaus.

Eh, fair point. I'll try to calm down.

And to those not in the know, Sisters of Mercy are a really shitty Goth Rock band from the 80's. Judas Priest and Black Sabbath could totally kick their asses, but that is beside the point.

And no one is denying you access to fun.

We just want you to stop being so derisive to people who actually like the game instead of their own magical homebrewed version.

EDIT: Darkling'd.

Dude, the Lancea Sanctum are like a cross between the Westboro Baptist Church and Crusades-era Catholicism (and that is the canonical portrayal of the LS), and they're good while the Circle are evil?

No it isn't.

It really isn't.

The closest thing to what you're talking is the Crimson Cavalry heretical sub faction. Who are a heretical sub faction flying under the radar, and are going to get Paladins and Crusaders landing on them like a ton of bricks (very angry, very devout bricks) the day they finally do come to the attention of the Lancea as a whole.

Point taken.

This is a habit I picked up as a defense mechanism from posting on the old White Wolf Forums and /tg/'s WoD threads back in the day, where I would be the one getting attacked and derided for the way I do my games. Sorry for any upsets I may have caused.

Let me make it up to you guys, here's some awesome music!

... you do realise that the Circle of the Crone would be totally down with worshiping Metaria, and Dr Tomoe is a wonderful example of a Dracul type occult-science character? I mean, the man literally wears glasses with pentacles on them.

Usagi: "Stop! Blood is for keeping you alive, not for drinking! That's really nasty! Like, really nasty! Yuck! Taking it from people isn't okay, unless, like, you're a doctor doing a blood donation drive! And you're not even real doctors! Because I bet you can't get medical degrees when you can't go out in the day! In the name of the Moon, I will punish you!"

Rei: "I hear you're weak to fire. That's going to be interesting!"

Ami: "... I guess I'll shoot bubbles at them."

In my games, the Circle of the Crone are strictly a confederation of polytheists, namely Greco-Roman, Norse, and Celtic polytheists. No Metaria worship or neo-witchery here! But that is beside the point.

Plus Rei would be burning down the fanatical hatemongering Lancea Sanctum priests and their mortal Westboro Baptist Church allies (complete with Mayhem's "Freezing Moon" blaring on the CD boombox) while Usagi would be bringing down the Belial's Brood cultists in the name of the Moon. Ami would still shoot bubbles at them though.

Again, that's just how I do things. Feel free to play the game the way you want to play it.

A room, illuminated only by a single light bulb.

"Look here bub you're gonna tell me what you Pure bastards are gonna do to the Shadow"

The werewolf breathes out a puff of smoke

The ashes fall to the concrete floor

"Now if you'll cooperate, my pack's gonna just leave you with a torn arm, and a broken pride"

"But if you don't... well"

She pulls out a large golden ring, A jewel encrusted star was in the middle.

"You're gonna wish that we just replaced all your teeth with silver"
----
Spirit cops always makes me laugh because Werewolf is basically about gangs.

Cops and gangs aren't actually all that different, all things considered. I mean, if you look at their origins in a protection racket by the old time equivalent of a gangster...

Steve Drain would make an excellent WoD villain.

Wait, three pages ago, we were talking about WoD meets WWE. What happened?

Also, I present to you, the new anthem of the Ordo Dracul. Nothing fits them better than Beethoven's "Ode to Joy".

How would you guys run a Magnificent 7 or Seven Samurai as a werewolf game, just out of curiosity.
Magnificent Seven Samurai plot is about bringing together fighters with different personalities and combat styles together.
Initially unwilling strangers coming together and battling to defend somebody else's community.

In terms of Werewolves it would be Garou from different packs and tribes.
Stargaser, Black Fury, Silent Strider, Glass Walker, Uktena, Silver Fang, and Shadow Lord teaming up :p

Plus Rei would be burning down the fanatical hatemongering Lancea Sanctum priests and their mortal Westboro Baptist Church allies....

Ah yes, the steeped, soaked silly in Catholic imagery Lancea Sanctum and their mortal allies...the Catholic hating (among all the other things they hate) WBC.

Calling Lancea "hatemongers"...okay, on the one hand it's a point of dogma to them that vampires are supernatural predators and God wants you to embrace your role as a predator and be the wolf among the sheep of humanity, so Nick Knight and Angel need not apply. Granted.

But as a whole the Sanctified don't really get into the "hate these humans over here more than those over there" because as God's wolf in the fold you shouldn't care about those things any more than an actual wolf cares about whether the differences between one herd of deer and another.*

*Barring sub factions like the Crimson Cavalry, basically a right wing white supremacist militia of vampires who interpret the word of Longinus as saying vampires are only supposed to kill "lesser races".

As a scientific experiment, I shall now consider how much you need to tweak nMage to allow it to run Sailor Moon, or something close to it:
  1. The basic setting is already essentially perfect. You had a long ago kingdom, which fell letting darkness into the world. The main change is that you'd need to make the Dragon Empire less of a bag of dicks tied together with string made from other, smaller dicks.
  2. Reincarnation already exists as a thing that happens - see Banishers. So you just need to give the protagonists 5 points in the reincarnation merit from Banishers, which means they have past life memories from before the Fall.
  3. Five Inner Senshi, Five Paths. Sure, you might need to tweak their powers a bit, but that basically works.
  4. Evil cultists worshipping horrors that should not be. Am I talking about Metaria, or the Abyss? Exactly. So Beryl and the Generals are Scelesti. And if we go by the manga, the sailors just murder the fuck out of them. Depending on tone, you might want to make the Abyssal horrors of the youma to be a little less horrific. Or else the girls might wind up a bit traumatised from having to deal with the Prince of Ten Thousand Leaves.
  5. Transformation... probably becomes something involving the Nimbus. Maybe to use non-coincidental magic, you need to flare your Nimbus as an extended "transformation" or something, which gives you Occultation-like disguise which means people can't recognise you (because you're a creature of the Higher Worlds that can't be remembered - like how it works for the Mad).
  6. Luna is of course a creature like an anakae, something that exists to serve the reincarnated inheritors of the Dragon Empire and lead them back to the glories of the past. Same for Artemis. And Pluto is an Archmaster of Time, sitting by a hole in time spending all her time watching over it for fear that it'll be abused.
So, yeah. nMage is basically Sailor Moon-OK - in fact, it's specifically more Sailor Moon-OK than Princess, which tries to run a wider genre of magical girl things.

It's my game, and in my games, the Lancea Sanctum are an evil covenant allied with other evil organizations. In my games, the WBC are mortal pawns of the Lancea Sanctum. In your games, you can make it what you want.

Cue the Ordo Dracul storming the Lancea Sanctum's base with "Ode to Joy" blaring out of the CD boombox, with the Carthian revolutionaries and Circle acolytes helping them out!

Wait a moment, didn't you want to open up "good guy vampire" concepts? Like, what if you want to be good Christian who isn't an anarchist, polytheist or transhumanist?
