A decapitation strike on Long is even less likely to succeed at this point, and I don't see any point in a half measure by just calling up the Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky NG. The time for choosing has come.

Considering that the Marines are probably the most experienced fighters we have right now and the Navy should be reliable enough to get them in to the city I don't think it would be impossible to get him but I agree that the die has been cast so to speak.

While it's tempting to federalize all the states' National Guards, I don't want to risk other parts of the country using it as a excuse to cry federal tyranny and secede as well. Try to track down the minutemen fleeing before they reach safety, and make an example of them. Maybe we might even find some intel we can use.

That's a good point, but I have reservations here. Namely: if we fail, the Federal Government will look even less competent and capable than it does now. If that happens, then we might have an even worse CSA rising. And I think that it might happen, because if the Michigan National Guards were politically unreliable, then the situation in the listed states may be even worse.

I honestly think that mobilizing the National Guards is our best option now: Long declared war, this is a just reason for calling up our troops to burn New Orleans to the ground and salt the earth.

Edit: Decisive Action ™️ against obvious rebels might even win us some credibility back.

Well, despite our best effort, it seems this isn't going to be a repeat of the first civil war. I guess we're going to find out how successful Olson has been in winning over the Rust Belt by which states end up declaring their own communes and joining the CSA or remain loyal to Washington.

Although reading through the comments, it seems like this icky little revolt hasn't stopped people from forming their own narratives.

All that debating whether to order the Michigan National Guard to fight the Red Guard or not and the Michigan National Guard decides to attack the Red Guard without orders anyway.

Once again, the American South has openly rebelled against the authority of the Federal Government. Additionally, hardline revolutionary socialists in Detroit have seized control of the city.

I currently favor full mobilization as it seems unlikely that we can appease the South and the Socialist hardliners diplomatically. Additionally, I think that the people who believe that Olson's Federal Government is tyrannical and that the people who believe that the Federal Government is too weak to protect the interests of the working class have already made up their minds.

The Federal Government must be prepared for a long war. Long has cast the die and we should not act indecisively at this time.

Not sure if we can even get to Long and I'm not sure how much good it would do at this point anyway
