The Book of Time (Word Building Riot Quest)

Age 1
The Wills saw the empty silent eternity and said it was not good. For in that empty world they saw potential and into nothing they looked with ideas born of vast and alien minds. A Will spoke with words beyond the concept of that reality and they said. 'Let all have life' and many Wills heard this proclamation and repeated that command. As their power touched it the empty world was marked. For all things an echo would be made a thing of mind and concept that carries the will of each thing born to reality. Those things are to be called spirits and even after their form is destroyed they shall linger. A spirit is made for every small thing but also the larger things of the world would have will and consciousness of its own.

And lo! From that structure the void of eternity was born and given unto itself a mind and a spirit. It was born at the start of the world so vast in its form and its life that it understood the moment of eternity between the breaths of the Wills and it was the first mind born of this empty place. Yet in that short forever it would next be blessed as the Wills saw how their own desires and clarity of mind could shape the world and sought to grant that power in part and in whole to all that would dwell on this place of their making. So they wrought willpower as a force second only to that of the formation of spirits. Willpower would enforce the mind and desires of one entity over the reality where they have the strength and leverage to reach. With enough strength of purpose and clarity of mind perhaps an entity could out power the Wills.

For the Eternal Void the strength of its will was vast and shallow for it had all things in its domain and had no need to act for it was already all encompassing and all knowing. The void was for all was the void to be. As it existed in contented non-existence the Wills continued their shaping and saw how their speaking imposed a will on the world and how they could bend that power, so as things are born and made they each are given a true name, one that allows those below them a anchor to leverage their will against, though the language and the names don't break the will of the spirits they reach out to. And a fool could easily find themselves tempting to force the hand of something far greater than they can control. The Void knew its name the moment it was given it, and it knew things were changing as the times between the breaths of the Wills grew shorter and their words run with less power but greater demands.

The Wills seeing the empty world desired to craft it so that things would be good, so a field or force was made that would judge the actions of all, using the mind of the creature itself and the spirits of all around each action would be judged by intentions, circumstances, and results. This force was to be called Karma, and over time good would come from good and bad would fall to bad. Evil punished and good rewarded. The void had no need of action and had no peers to inflict evil or good upon so it knew of Karma only in the eternal breath of the shifting Wills in the universe around it.

The Wills did not wish to make a static world and so as they grew frantic in their breaths and quick in their words a new line was added to the fundamental framework of the world. "All shall grow, as by their nature to their nature." A growth not unlimited but fundamental was placed on all things. For the only thing was the nothingness of the Void. It turned its willpower into growing itself and reality grew vast in the infinity before the next breath.

The Wills decided that the shape of the world was not to their liking and tore it asunder. Carving one into the upper realm is a place of physical things and solid structures, materials, and energies. That realm would create reflections and ripples in the deeper realm that was made and pushed below it. And to the deeper realm the name was given that of the spirit world. That would be a place of pure spiritual energy where the physical realm was a place of pure material energy. Here the Void was split in twain as the world was as part of it its being was the nothingness that became the physical realm, while all of it, its mind became the spiritual realm. To the void it was a new sensation as to torture for it was changed in a way that it could not comprehend or control. So it turned its vast will in undoing the works of the Wills beyond reality. However its strength was untested and shallow, it made many solid gates between the Spirit realm and the physical realm that in later times would become known as spirit gates.

"For all things the time will come for them to pass beyond this world." The next line echoed into nothing and a law was carved while something had no destined time to live or die they would all die. For all things would come to an end and death was but the meaning and the guide at the end. For Death is a kindness, for eternity is so, so very long. And when the last lights and thoughts of existence go out, death shall be there to put away the chairs. The moment the new force was born into the world the void felt a kinship and a geas. For the void felt that as the Wills spoke it would be in some way doomed though it did not yet know the shape of that doom. Yet the void also knew that this was a promise for at the end of all things it would be reborn as the end and at the beginning. Between the next breath Death and the spirit of the Void communed and as the two minds in eternity they became friends.

The Wills in part seek order in their creations and so they put in laws of attraction to all the energies. Those energies purer would draw with more strength other energies of the same kine, and so in the grand spread of time regions in both the physical and spiritual will be bound together to form grand areas of purity bordered by those of mixed forces on the shores of distant realms. This was a new force pulling against the Void for it was uniform in its emptiness but had grown complex in its mind and emotions. Even tending to the concept spirits sprouting up as the sands of time fall. This purity had it slowly pulling itself apart purely from its vast size and ancient nature. Yet that same age and grand scale allowed it to turn its will against this law and bind its mind together. This marked the end of the creation of spirit gates as now the Void had its will tied up elsewhere.

For all time of the mortals and immortals of the world the question of evil would be posed if the creator of creators were lacking in power or foresight. Perhaps it is to say they had power and cared not for foresight. They had their own desires and agenda. How else could the next line be spoken if not by a thing immune to the Karma they forged into this world. "Suffering begets suffering, cruelty begets cruelty, misery begets misery. Let this curse grow in all places it is allowed to touch." These words this law was born at a time when the void was being torn apart in its mind and so the curse began to paint all corners of the spirit realm before the void saw its malignant Force infecting the fabric of eternity around it harming the pure concept spirits it had been protecting. Then the void saw the nature of its doom, it could not exist in a world where death was to have meaning as it was all things at this time and would be again. It could hold on suffering and painting all the world with that tarred brush or it could surrender. So Death allowed the Void a moment to use its will to push the curse into distant pockets before purity tore its mind asunder and the spirit left with Death beyond the sight of even the Wills. The first kindness had been brought.

With that calamity the death of the eternal void, the stars were born light and power filling the physical realm as spirits no less radiant were born into the spiritual. While their creation was the act of the Wills their own mythology would have them pulled from nothing with the sundering of the Eternal Void. Each star was born and in this age of an empty expanse they grew much smaller and their wills lesser in strength but deeper in kind and focus they were not ripped apart by the forces of purity, but the trails of light they leave collapse back into pools and seas floating like soap bubbles in infinity. They would speak with each other and dance for this age between the breaths of the Wills and before the tragedy would befall them.

The next words of the Wills was the mark of Envy, those that study the spiritual laws can far easier explain Envy than the curse for Envy provides a great many books. How could one dream of the impossible if they didn't understand that they were missing it? How could one year for the unattainable if they had no capacity for yearning? To miss and to yearn is to envy and for all its pain it was a gift that granted boons unequal. Using the starlight pools the start would make paintings and renditions of their stories and their knowledge. However one star found a Spirit gate and convinced a spirit of learning to come to the physical realm, and once the entity was on that side the far more vast star used its will and the spirit's name so that it could devour it. Lo, the second death was no kindness, but avarice and jealousy leading to a Star's betrayal.

Long forgotten by all for only the now dead Void saw it be made Karma began to tick and the Star now with new powers of knowledge and learning was being shadowed by a punishment that only grew in weight as it tricked and ate six more spirits of concepts it wished to understand more of. Karma and fate lead to it learning of a spot of reality on which no star had traveled and which echoes of the Eternal Void warded off curious spirits in the spirit realm. Its power grew and its mind Unchained the Spirit Eating Star sought out that dark place and in turn its darkness was attracted by the purity of the curse in that dark corner of reality. So much was the purity of the evil in the star that its will was not enough to draw it out once it fell into that only and cursed vortex its now eternal suffering fueling the curse that holds it into its prison. That Karma came too late for the concept spirits and the Stars for many had heard of the Consumer through second hands and began to distrust and envy the power of the stars, while the stars began to envy the ease of learning from the spirits and the rift grew and soon none would dare to cross.

Into the void are painted clouds lit by the stars and dancing to their own spirits, greater spirits for vast regions managing many smaller spirits for each of the wisps and clouds. It was so written so all of reality was to have these clouds and they would quickly order themselves below the stars as followers and disciples in all but the most distant parts of the sea. Some clouds slip into the Spirit gates forming their seas in the twisting mirror of the physical reality, but playing host and home to many concept spirits and their own mind spirits.

While each word of the Wills has shifted and thrown apart reality and the small societies that appear between the breaths of the Wills they desire so that is eternal. Change is inevitable if not unavoidable, for even those who bind themselves in entropy will find power and a reordering of their static power come up on them and often at the most inopportune moments throwing them into chaos. Beyond that endless chance life would always be a struggle, each mind would be given doubt and insecurity, as they had no physical needs so they were to lose their mental foundation so that they would struggle for the amusement of distant Wills. Many cloud sea societies became a dance of keeping other spirits out of the depths of your many many insecurities, and often Envy would strike and the curse would grow before Karma removed or ended the instigator. Causing whole regions to fall into curse born darkness.

As the world began it was already collapsing, pockets of the spirit and physical collapsing into realms of suffering and despair. The Wills say that this was not good and so they spoke. "Space" the first word stopped many regional collapses pushing and defining distance as more than just concepts and remains of the Eternal Void. Those places collapsing from their strength of pain are now spread out; their prisons are lone pits scattered through distance. In the spirit distance is looser as that realm is in part divorced from the physical but the spirit gates allow space to bleed in as a concept solidifying that realm too in part. The near spirit is a place much like the physical though distances are more defined by the concepts when the world became solid, but as one got farther from the gates and their land of stable space distance melts apart in the far spirit.

"Time" Again reality settles as the Wills put an idea behind another existing concept. Already events progress happening in time as each one leads to the next, now instead of simultaneously occurring in an empty concept of events and causality where between each breath of the Wills is momentary and eternal in the same way and time. Now events that happen concurrently can not also happen in sequence. Events progress based not on the movement of attention or interest but on a slow march of a counter set beyond reality. For the physical and the near spirit this is a slow progression of events along this line of time. For the far spirit time becomes more flexible and one can reach between events regardless of their order as long as they occur between breaths of the Wills.

It also sets up energy and information quantizing the vast thoughts of the ever curious stars and granting one kindness to the devouring star in its personal hell where it can catch glimpses of the light from beyond learning with processes of its consumed spirits digested and bound to its will. This will is set such that all things of reality are described by these rules, and defined by their measures. No strength is given to the 4 cornerstones of reality, but each is a fixed point of explanation. For those who use will they can't ignore it, just as those can use names to bypass it yet it is greater as a fulcrum for the power of Will rather than being a force of its own.

The Devouring Star, surrounded by a corpse sea of the unlucky clouds born around it, looks into the space around its prison and it learns of space and of time. It used its will to pry open the well of despair, to push away the rest of its suffering using the distance of space and time, Karma long spent on eternities of torment before time was wrought. So in a far corner of reality the star puppets black dead clouds with its will even as it holds itself away from another collapse into its prison.

"All chains are to be broken." A phrase that echoes the actions of the Devouring Star, now all minds are free to break the chains that bind them, they will more easily be able to pull apart the laws of reality when turned to freeing themselves. As long as they only wish for that freedom and freedom itself alone.

"FLESH" The next word echos and reverbs through all of space a base material like star stuff and clouds, flesh is mutualistic with the law of growth, while flesh is less powerful than starstuff, and less flexible than clouds it is eternally mutable and one with the concept of will and growth. The Primordial Flesh is unbound in its growth but a being of it is bound by the ratio of its birth, as while one can be made of the flesh and other materials the flesh becomes in a way weaker by the inclusion, and so even a dash of starstuff may cap the otherwise unlimited growth of a flesh born being. The first born of the flesh, are weaker than stars, and far less flexible than clouds, lacking the intrinsic understanding and power of spirits. Their potential slumbers this era as few of them are of note.

Pokash, the burned one finds itself most unfortunate as it is born in the heart of the Devouring Star's domain, and it finds its newborn flesh being torn asunder and devoured. Its will newly formed had to scramble its fresh mind spirit being tormented as the body is torn. Yet it was of flesh and it was to grow, the Star did not know its name so Pokash joined with the Star in breaking its body, however as the Star devoured Pokash scattered throwing fragments of flesh into the distant void. It would be broken but it did not yield carving its mind apart carefully so that they would stay as one even if they were many. For this age the thousand spawn of Pokash drifted through empty seas. The Devouring Star would craft minions of its stolen flesh, learning each name as they are born and binding the creatures of cloud, star, and flesh to its service. However thrice it had sinned and so Karma would find it a cast off piece of a distant star would happen to strike one of the pillars of bent space distracting the will of the Devouring Star long enough for its prison to once again collapse now stronger and more pure in its evil. However this time it was not set fully into its jail, for its children were out there and the chains had not yet time to be broken.

Shalt is the second of Primordial Flesh to come to notoriety during this age, for it was born next to one of the spirit gates and spent all the rest of this time learning its construction and the laws of space and information bound around these ancient structures. It would come to understand the creation and bend its own will and flesh to bridge itself between the physical and spiritual realm there it would carve off small portions of its flesh to mix with the material of the near spirit and create children of both realms who's mind spirit was in part their body as their flesh was their spirit and their spirit was their flesh. Shalt would send out these spirits born to learn from all the stars and all the spirits trading knowledge between them all in a great web where its living bridge between the realms was the center.

Turi was the final one of note in this age of the world. It was born among a thousand clouds in one of the grandest seas where it would make many friends of the spirits as it grew and learned. In that way it was like many of its unnoted kin, however its life was not to be unremarkable. Its location was besieged by a host of the Devouring Star, those flesh-formed servitors were repelled by the forces of that sea, but Turi among the defenders was of great note. For it grew itself into walls of Flesh and allowed the attackers to dull their claws on its hide, and as they did Karma came and the flows of natural energy came so that Turi was fed. Such was the amount of energy that Turi would grow thrice the amount of flesh torn asunder, and it would guide those fragments of torn flesh away from the hoard so that hundreds born of sundered flesh would be raised under Turi's aegis.

"Let all see the power with their eyes." The final chant of this age of the world, one many scholars ask if it was misinterpreted by reality. Nothing in the world before had eyes, for beings only needed to will themselves to understand the world around them so that they could see. To use your mind to see was as basic a concept as one could claim. So when the law of Eyes was born they are not organs of sight but markers of might. Stars would be covered in a thousand questing eyes, the Devouring Star is said to have a million eyes, while Turi and other grand members of clouds and flesh have hundreds of eyes to show. Those eyes can be on their mind or their body and as they are echos and manifest of will one can shift their location, size and appearance with ease. The gate of Shalt is little more than a belt of two eyes endlessly rotating to display its power and will. To those few that die at this part of the age they are surprised to find that death has no eyes. For they have little need of power, it is not strong or willful, merely it is inevitable.

Now is the coming of a new age the Wills blink and find their words and impressions have molded this world setting into place laws that would govern it until death is made true and the Eternal Void reborn at the end of ends. Now comes a time of locations, the Wills will act to make places and to alter places in the world to fit their mind. As of now their is two realms, the Physical and the Spiritual.

The physical realm is permeated by cloud seas of which the stars are mixed among them. There is several areas of note. The Devouring Star's prison, though it is not the only well of evil and curse in this world. The seas of Turi a cloud sea bordered by a wall of living flesh and its many spawn. The gate sea, a sea around Shalt and the living gate an area populated by spirits, clouds, and stars that are unified in their quest for learning and understanding. There are many spirit gates but none are especially notable.

In the spirit realm their is two domains, the near spirit that is bound by the four describers of physical reality, where time, and space are fixed properties. Places near enough the spirit gates that reality leaks through. It has not much of note beyond the other half of the living gate's domain. The far spirit is beyond those laws, and as of yet is undefined and full of infinite potential.

Does physical world have borders in three dimensional space? Like, If I fly for long enough will I leave physical part of reality?

How about something like this? One world and its 'sibling' upside down (or vice versa). And it is almost impossible to get through the physical world from one side to the other.

Edit: Or a simpler variant - first galaxy. What do you think?

[] The Flat World

The Devouring Stars prison was flattened into thin plane. It is locked by event horizon and frozen time. This indestructible plane extends through the center of the physical world and closes on itself, forming a boundary. Physical things that cannot resist the force of gravity fall to the plane if they get too close. They accumulate over many years, forming at first a hot homogeneous mass, but then cooling down again and giving rise to the earth's firmament. On each side of the Black Plain there is a thick layer of stuff.

The Flat World is two-sided: because of boundary at its center/bottom, which pull things towards itself. Above two sides of the Flatlands (depending on the point of view) there dark sky, filled with tiny majestic clouds and traveling stars from very-very far away. Usually they are so far from the central plane of the physical world that they are only visible as dim dots and lights of different colors. And usually only their past is projected in the sky, because the light takes time to reach the surface.

[] The Cosmic Cradle

A huge spherical space is formed in which the physical limitations are strongest. Many material things are drawn there to interact in a long and complex dance. Its result will be a galaxy filled with stars, planets and other bodies. The boundary around the galaxy is fuzzy and relatively thin. The increase in the weight of physical laws occurs gradually until it reaches the level within most of the space of the first galaxy.

i like the first one, love the idea of land in this universe just being the fucking humongous flat plane of matter on top of a evetn horizon/the devouring stars prison stretching across the entiriry of existince

okay so just to make sure i have to first one right in make head, if ti passed the layout of the universe would be

phyiscal world
cloud sea and stars and shit
flatland
event horizon/frozentime
devouring stars prison/the curse
more event horizon/frozen time
more flatland, except in the spirt this time
the spirit world

and the spirit gates would let you go between the spirit and the physical and bypass the flatlands

I was actually thinking about my location being in physical world only. Like:
-cloud sea and stars and shit
-flatland
-event horizon/frozentime
-devouring stars prison/the curse
-more event horizon/frozen time
-flatland
-cloud sea and stars and shit

But your idea is also great. The whole new Cosmology! However, I am not sure if it would count as location.

Would you be putting all the evil pockets into the horizon?

Would you be putting all the evil pockets into the horizon?
I wanted to put only prison - roll it into a thin surface and act as bottom of the world. Other pockets can be wherever they want to be or were.

Edit: Well, maybe I could include 'physical limitations are stronger' towards the Flat World. But it feels like a bit too much?

Edit 2: Wait, it sounds like a literal Hades or Hell or something similar. If something bad dies on the surface of the world, will its spiritual essence be pulled down (stronger, the more Evil it is)? Because even with strengthened physical laws, they don't have that much power over the spiritual. And the bad will be attracted to the bad, and if we also connect Karma to this...

Edit 3: It can hammer thing down at the moment of its death - in one go, crushing it under the full weight of their sins accumulated by Karma over the years. Because moment of death is moment of weakness, I belive. So a living physical thing may momentarily lose the ability to resist and avoid Karma. As it usually did in life, for example. And be plunged into the depth. If they are lucky - they just stuck somewhere underground. If they are not - they are going to cross the event horizon in spirit form and went into Curse pocket.

I like this devouring star, it looks cool. It will be necessary as soon as it becomes possible to create a prophecy about the last battle at the end of time, so that this star is not accidentally killed ahead of time.

Now my idea of using it as the bottom of the world sounds like something from the Cthulhu Mythos about eldritch evil from the depth.

[] Janus, The Great City of The Twin Realms.

A large floating city that exists around a Spirit Gate and exists in both the physical and spiritual realm, made of physical and spiritual matter respectively. The physical half appears to be made of various metals such as gold, silver, platinum, bronze, brass, copper, steel, iron, and lead, while the spiritual half is made of ivory, wood, alicorn, amber, and various gemstones.

The Spirit Gate is stabilized by the two halves of the city, allowing for the physical to become spiritual and the spiritual to become physical as they pass through. The City also possesses a Will of its own that feels compelled to protect itself and its inhabitants from those who would attack and do harm. Its Will is bolstered, made stronger than any of the metals that make up its physical half, unwavering determination filling every fiber of its being.

It is also home to a flower that can only be cultivated within the confines of the City, a flower with petals with the appearance of a great cosmic void filled with stars and nebulas that had a grey stem and vibrantly colored roots that shift between all the colors of a rainbow. Each part of the flower had odd properties: the petals when either brewed into a drink will allow one to peer behind the boundary between physical and spiritual worlds and interact with both, the stem when ground up and mixed into an ointment can rapidly speed up recovery from injury and cleanse physical and spiritual afflictions, and the roots can vastly bolster the physical and spiritual health of those who consume them. It can only be cultivated and grown in Janus due to the circumstances of the city and its dual nature.

My Location Idea.

Now my idea of using it as the bottom of the world sounds like something from the Cthulhu Mythos about eldritch evil from the depth.
If I remember correctly, Cthulhu was held by stars at the bottom of the sea, so we can make it so that several dozen of the most powerful of the stars had to observe a certain cyclic trajectory in order to maintain the prison of the devouring star.
True, it is necessary to give the devouring star methods of strengthening so that the battle at the end of time does not become a beating.
Maybe give the devouring star the opportunity to spread its will where the law of damnation is strong and there is a lot of evil karma besides the fact that incorrigible villains fall into its possession?

I guess. Although, I like to make some limitations - just as a way to add variety, because usually everything moves the other way in the quest - fewer restrictions, more possibilities. It is just one location of reality - people can do something they like more for other places. Although, what shapes we didn't try? Cylindrical - nah, too banal.

Edit: Ok, AI give me insparation!

Spiral Continent: Imagine a massive landmass in the shape of a spiral, with each coil representing a different climate zone or environment. This shape would create diverse ecosystems and unique geographical features. - this structure may be looped on high/low ends. And be spiraling around some axes, on which the luminary moves in one direction and returns to the starting point - day and night. Sounds like a weird one.

What do you think of my city idea?
It uses existence of gates and boundary between physical and spiritual pretty well. But what kind of gem is alicorn? Also, does the City have a name?

[ ]Divinity. To attend divinity is to become infinite, inquantifiable in some way, like the Void was or Death is. When one attains divinity, its mind becomes a domain in the spiritual world, where worshippers and followers can go after physical Death. If the divinity is in the physical world, they can decide to incarnate themselves in their domain instead. Worship strenghten this domain.

So this isn't really a specific place, more of a way to become a place but still be an individual. Gods are now spiritual places of power( no way this can go wrong!). Some exemples of divinity would be imagination, space, possibly some stars, primordials and spirits.

Edit:
What do you think of my city idea?

Too specific for my tastes. I prefer when things develop organically, not be printed into the universe. Maybe instead of a specific city be a bit more general/vague have a way for cities to form when different rules of creation clash. This is just a suggestion.

Maybe I can use some sub-dimensions, like islands in the clouds... And make thier inner laws and themes be inspaired by ideas from specific areas of spirit realm, with which it has a link. Or something similiar.

alicorn is actually another name for unicorn horn.

And the name of the City is Janus, like the two faced Roman god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, and endings.

If you want to give some restrictions themed after physical laws and also make the geometry of the world interesting, then I have a suggestion for you- make each of the physical laws you had previously instated into vectors of movement. You move through time and space obviously enough already, so why not create information and energy dimensions?

so why not create information and energy dimensions?
Well, they are already kinda... Because all physical things may be seen as dimensions in a way, right? I cannot really conceptualise and feel, how it would work in the world right now. As something more in meaning of time and space. Even in form of words. Like, what does it mean to move throuth the Information Dimention? How can I move through it?
