Shepard Quest Mk VI, Technological Revolution

@Hoyr what would the colonization package be? Would people come to us , say what planet they want terraformed, we then give them a price and come up with a plan for them to enact? Or would this be a plan that can be applied to any planet to produce uniform results.

The first one. You'll be able to pick a planet and bioform it to with in sci-fi reason. Planets lacking in the normal essentials (Atmosphere, water, radiation shielding, etc) will get weird.

Making an undeveloped planet Rannoch-like for example would be do able. Making Venus human habitable would require other efforts.

How about the fact we've got an unknown group(s) of covert infiltrators running around trying to fuck us up? Warships Aren't helpful against an operative in our bas, plus the fact that we actively participated in the previous fight and will likely do so again in future so ensuring our survival is worth at least 500 rp, then there's the fact that N7 and spectres will get massive bonuses from the mark 2 aiding in covertly dealing with pirates and raiders slowing the escalation of the war.

We have plenty of heavy direct and large scale tech, what we lack is something small personal and subtle, plus it would revolutionise ground warfare again and would probably get the other council races to want to meet with and work directly with us, the spectres would also likely end up directly procuring some which would give us the oppotunity to get contacts there.
For subtle, I am getting invisible man. I don't really see much issue with getting mark 2 (which will probably be mark 2.4 already, given all that we researched that would fit into it) somewhat soon. It is useful. I would rate it between "politically motivated tech" and "useful" tech though.

Oh, that has... potential. "Directed evolution" potential. Have you ever read (or heard of) Solaris?

wow
we really need more research point
all these option we want need alot

There are so many options...
But by priotity we have to focus our research on:
  1. Next gen ships and warfare
  2. Handling big problems
So I propose this:
[X] Flawless Blackboxing [1270.25/1270.25]
[X] Advanced Xenobiology [70/800]
[X] Light Cruisers (<500m) [47/600]
[X] Quantum Entanglement Communications [1000.75/1600]
[X] Dream Entertainment Drugs [100/100]
[X] Prothean Data [100/50]

BB is a clear must have.
Colonization may be a big thing but it will take decades to centuries until a binome forms and artificial oversight (the teraforming) is no longer needed. I find it of no use in the quest outside of PR while AX can be used to prepare the rest of the galaxy once we have convinced them of the reaper threat. It may have the added benefit of calming the citadel as they will learn that it will be developed.
Light Cruisers must be started to use the specialized RP we have but we can stretch its completition until we start producing frigates. I put the specialized RP out of existing tech in it as well.
QEC is something that will make another big splash and the SA will be happy to get them. It is something badly needed later to ensure that communications will not break down. I hope that by introducing it soon it will at least spread far enough in the military to prevent a black out completly. Information is one of the highest valued goods in war and so it is imperative that they keep flowing. Sadly we do not have enough RP to finish them this turn but with BB we can start selling them in 2 quartals for far above 150% mark-up. Even if they end up SA explusively.
We have voted to research the drugs and have done so without stragglers. My reason to put it here is that we have already voted to research it and agreed to do so.
The two Data are there in the hope that we will win the jackpot. Again and again investing a bit feels easier than inesting a lot without getting anything.

We have explicit Word of GM on this one:

So, this basically means we get half of all the quarian assets possible, and lots of drell and hanar assets. Quarians settling also benefits us greatly politically, possibly making asari consider allowing to give us the AI license. It might also help us if/when we approach the geth.

No but it looks very interesting. I shall have to see if I can find it. Oh wait I have seen the movie, the book sounds far better.

Anyway I use the word bioforming for it for a reason. It's for altering a planet's biosphere, not climate or such like. Unless you can get the biosphere to do that. (Oxygenating an atmosphere for example)

Well the do have to last for quite a few more turns.

We have voted to research the drugs and have done so without stragglers. My reason to put it here is that we have already voted to research it and agreed to do so.

The vote was to offer the paranoid option of check everything first or to not do anything. I am fine with you not checking it and doing other things.

@Chargone

Can you add the prothean data to your plan? Do that, and you have my vote

Probably. I Think there's 50 points i can pull out of the brainshield to do it without running into problems (it uses some specialist points, you see). if you (or someone else) could run the numbers and that is the case, then sure.
It's currently 4:48 am here and the numbers were enough work the first time, so i'm not up to figuring that out at the moment..

I did not question the result. I question that there will be results visible in the next 5 years.
For me that means it is a tech that has only PR value for the duratio of this quest.

And we were all paranoid. So lets check it.

The only logical thing we can do is offer a discount on any planet that forces us to be REALLY out of the box.
The big one are going to be largely charity, I think: a planet for the Drell, to prevent Kerpal, and a planet for the Quarians. It's not like the SA needs more colony worlds: they can't even defend the ones they have, and many planets only have a handful of cities on the entire planet.

[X]UberJJK

Flawless black boxing/FRM [1,929.75/3200] - 1,270.25RP
We need this. We know that everyone and their mother is trying to copy our tech.

Colonization/Bioforming Genetics Package [400] - 400RP
I like this tech for a couple of reasons. The first if done right can turn a lot of previously useless planets into great colonies. This tech alone can by so much good will from any government. It also lets us help the Drell and we could also make a new Rannoch for the Quarians

Light Cruisers (<500m) [600] - 600RP
Now everyone knows that we need to do this sometime but when to do it is the question. I think that getting it done now is the way to go. Frist off putting it off just delays us getting the chance to sell block upgrades to the SA. As it is we have to wait anther quarter after this to sell them if we max out cruiser tech. I also want to start researching dreadnought tech as soon as we can. Next up is the Hanar fleet upgrades. It is easy money since we are almost a saint to them and we are selling a superior product then everyone else. But it is only easy money if we have a ship to sell them. We need this tech so that the Hanar don't look for other suppliers for their ships. I dream of a Hanar Navy made just of ships PI produces. So I think that moving full steam ahead of ship tech is the way to go. Once Systems Alliance and other governments see what we did for the Hanar they will all want brand new ships from PI.

Prothean Data [50] - 50RP

I think that 50 RP a turn is worth putting into this. We could find out a lot of helpful information for a low cost and low risk.

Quantum Entanglement Communications [1600] - 267.75RP
Long range unbreakable coms system the SA will give almost anything for this tech.

Light cruisers can wait for next quarter, when we could also research 500m MACs, and maybe Weapon Mods.

I really want any plans that win to have Gen II Reactors.

So, for now:
[X] Chargone

I think he has the right idea. It follows the minimum requisites, that is, finish blackboxing. But I like his philosophy in picking the Techs: "We are sinking enormous amounts of points in BB, so instead of going for one of two mid-price techs, we pick all the low hanging fruits first".

Next quarter we can, thus, finish a lot of 600-800 Techs.

Invisible Man gives us a nice boost to our power armors, shows those uppity Asari who's Boss, and is overall very nice. Also improves a future Mk II.

Gen II reactors show have been done a while ago, it is our core, our most fundamental piece of tech. It benefits pretty much everything.

Omni-tool upgrade, along with Gen II reactors, makes them awesome. Everyone has an omnitool, and it who knows what an extremely powerful one might allow in combination with our other techs. Not to metion Lightsabers.

Barriers is the one I'm least sure about. Does our Warp barriers work on infantry scale? This might be just the thing. They might even stack, if we research it so.

Brain shield is something we want to get soonish, because paranoia. Nearly halway done.

On the other hand, if several planets within one solar system can be made habitable, then the value of that system would become far greater than the value of each individual planet.

@Yog I'm starting to like your vote better than mine. Only two possible improvements i can think of:

1. The 37 points you're putting into omni-tools is mostly a waste. May as well put them into Cruisers with the ship points; omni-tool improvements should probably wait until we have gen II Arc Reactors, so we can directly integrate one into the tool.

2. For that matter, you're putting more than 400 points into QEC this quarter. There's no reason not to take those points and buy a 400 point tech outright, like the gen II reactor to capture that market, or brain shield, or something else.

I belive that for the cabira the unobtanium will be researched, no?

If so it is possibly one of the keys to defeat the reapers. Sure not outrigh win but it would either be better or match their armor that tank dreadnoughts
