Shepard Quest Mk V, Base of Operations (ME/MCU)

in wonder what the taurians, salerians, krogans, batrians, asari and especially the elcor think about us
"Are we sure she's not some kind of AI?"

"With acceptance: Yes, we checked."

"I mean, are we absolutely sure?"

"With emphatic certainty: Matriarch Benezia's daughter met her in person."

"She could be a very clever android."

"With disdain: Clever enough to fool an asari that made skin contact?"

"Yeah alright. Maybe she's got a beacon?"

"With resigned acknowledgment: Three different specters doing covert checks all say definitely not."

"What the hell is she then?"

"With knowing amusement: Leading odds in the office pool are for time traveler."

PI-IFV-02A Code Name: Tiger

Sounds really nice. Personally I would like to add more main gun options but we can always leave it to generals. There should be basic main gun core where to build all this in modular vehicle so it's easy to say something like "And best of all, if these options aren't enough for some missions, you can always ask your engineers to add new ones on basic core. Like double 120mm mortars or heavy flamethrower."

Stuff like that sinks to generals nicely and makes them so happy, they really like to play those war games and min/max their toys. While I would like to sell some more turret types, it in end isn't that high market and it's quite easy to just let army use their time and resources for that stuff.

Amused Statement:Elcors and HK-47/(51) are awesome.

HK-50 series sucks by contrast.

...pretty sure that was an actual assassination attempt.

Actually, just reread it. It definitely was.

Observation: She is sufficiently inexperienced that it is possible she will bumble into a fatal trap of her own accord.

Response: Insufficiently likely; we cannot allow our objectives to rely on such an unlikely event.

Response: Understood. Initializing systems.
If the goal was showcasing the suit, her stumbling into an actual fatal trap wouldn't be proposed as acceptable.

Should we do some overpowered personal kinetic shield system, powered by arc reactor and disguised as some accessory on our clothes for personal protection?

Shields belts are standard, we've worn a non-arc one before. I would be amazed if we didn't already have one.

No man, that is obviously the goddamn Elcor - the Citadel's most lethal assassins.

The Tiger is our basic Big Cat but basic doesn't mean low standards! As you've come to expect from Paragon Industries this vehicle is reliable, manoeuvrable and tough.

Let's talk through the basic features, first up motive systems. Based on the sturdy construction of the past, the six wheel design has improved on the stability of the Mako while maintaining- and thanks to our material science advances improving on- the robustness of it's predecessor ensuring when it has it's wheels on the ground it will be ready to take our troops anywhere in safety. And unlike it's predecessor it will never get stuck on its roof thanks two our roof mounted self righting mechanism.
And the ground isn't the only place the Big Cat Series will take our people, fully capable of Orbital Combat Drops the Tiger can manoeuvre at high Mach speed in both orbit and in the air with rapid lateral velocity adjustment allowing evasion of incoming fire that would shatter the airfoils of any conventional air breathing fighter. And once the operation is over or there's no space lift available the Tiger can return to orbit under it's own power.
Our founder and Paragon haven't stopped there however. The galaxy is an incredibly varied place and the equipment we provide should be able to cope with those demands. So we proudly announce the Tiger is fully quad-phibious: Full vacuum to 300+ Barr Liquid Submersion thanks to its full physical NBC shielding.
Now lets move on to the unparalleled protection it provides those within Lorica Ceramic Composite Armour and our Castra Kinetic Barrier Projector Network. Now I know that our hosts here really like to make big explosions- sorry again I mean test to destruction so here's their chance, if you'll all step behind the Castra KBPN here we'll begin.....
You're surprised it's evading? The on board VI is programmed to support and protect the occupants and vehicle should there be no-one to manually control the vehicle as you can see it does so quite well. I'll shut down the antimissile defences and motives and then you can really get to it....

One of our best improvements is the Neural interface and the Battle Network that....

Lastly if it's other features weren't enough all Big Cat's are fully convertible to alternative Variants by simple refit with PI's Big Cat Kits.

:: Vehicles fly and drop in with speed and precision as they are announced ::

You know with all that those military contracts we should really begin building up our own factories since we are currently quite depended on the bigger firms to actually produce anything in relevant numbers. And with our robotic and AI/VI focus I believe that we could reach unprecedented levels of automatic production. That would mean less workers we have to pay, less chance of getting infiltrated/spied on by other powers and it could help if we ever want to expand into asteroid mining etc.

...we have been purchasing them as fast as we can, and just clarified with Esbilon whether we could start slamming them down in the other two cities on Mindoir. With a Fac 3 online we now have respectable production, set to triple in a year - not including the shipyard we plan on building here too.

This is before we start setting up the Elysium office.

We literally can't grow any faster - and ME factories are already automated to all hell. Remember, we were producing stuff with zero employees at the beginning. We don't actually hire very many factory workers when you look at how much we can produce.

This:

And unless the Alliance wants an insane number of Tigers all at once we should be more then able to supply the entire contract by ourselves.

No, it shouldn't. Because money hasn't been a real issue, the actual time require to put down factories is at this point. Factory 3 is coming online - that is not a tiny amount of production. And we are about to start building two more.

To put this in perspective, within the next year we will be capable of fulfilling the HK deal.

My point is that the light coming from the probe and connecting to the outside observer would still be infinitely time-dilated. To the outside observer, the probe would never look to be inside the horizon.
Sorry to return to this, but I think you are wrong here. Or, rather, I think that the second part of the statement doesn't follow from the first. Yes, the light will be infinitely time dilated. The objecr itself, however, wouldn't be, and it would be inside the black hole fron the point of view of the outside observer. Inside a "cavity".

As I said in the post you quoted, the object is spatially inside the undisturbed event horizon, but it's not past event horizon. Because of the localized mass effect field around the object. Within that field the radius of the event horizon is smaller than the orbital radius of the object itself and, thus, from its perspecrive, it's outisde the black hole, never having passed the event horizon.

Please, explain to me where I'm wrong, because I likely am, but it keeps bugging me. How do you think the situation would unfold/look? I'll quote the post where I explain the setup:

What about creating a cavity inside the black hole? Let's say that the initial radius of the event horizon is Rh0. Under effects of ME field it's smaller and is Rh1. We then place a probe at the orbit with the radius of R0; Rh1<R0<Rh0. The probe itself generates a localized mass effect field (similar to the externally generated one) affecting a spherical area of space with the radius of R1. Rh1<R0-R1<R0<R0+R1<Rh0. We then cancel the externally generated field. The probe would be "inside" the outer event horizon, but outside of black hole due to the localized mass effect field. Would it not?
Note that in this setup the event horizon never passes the object from its own point of view.

Question for the group while we wait for an update: We're almost certainly going to have a Spectre rolling through fairly soon wanting that have a look at our facilities. Because this kind of technological surge? Always means someone found a Prothean Beacon. Or at least that's the view of the galaxy at-large. And they're not going to be happy that humanity hasn't turned it over to the council yet. Despite, you know, us not actually having one.

So, how are we planning to handle that?

Make sure our Security/E-War VI is working at top capacity, then give them a complete tour (with ongoing projects/unblackboxed stuff put away). We don't have anything to hide.

Can't really think why they would think that way. While it's explanation for tech surge, there still is some little facts like, why the heck government let underage girl to do all that stuff?

Also, if they send Spectre to snoop around and they don't find anything (because there isn't any beacon) then council is on thin ice and Alliance can blame them of open espionage.

Depends, first we contact the Alliance Military and get them to send some high level officers over and then we show them the patents we have for the tech pointing out that the Prothean's never had anything remoting like this and if he is being a dick then he has a accident.

No, sending a Spectre is perfectly fair - there will some diplomatic bile spread around with the accusation of hiding a beacon, but it is an understandable assumption.

The Alliance can't blame them for anything.

"Welcome to our facility, Specter Nihlus. Would you like to try out a Legionary and blow shit up?"

...yeah. Let's be needlessly antagonistic, not address their concerns, and then bump off a Spectre. Brilliant.

Oh yeaaa, Revy can totally kill one of the best special forces operatives in the galaxy
