SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

As long as we're just losing unpopulated sections, I don't have an objection.
Well, I mean, when I say a small tract of land, I really mean like a single lot. Like one big enough to hold a building of reasonable size. Pretty much what I've already suggested:
Find plot Akane thinks she can carry
put squishes into it
escape from falling city with as many civvies as we can fit

Maybe Walrus Night is using the last of her power to slow down the city so it doesn't crash.
Like a giant magical lift.
Without the crash.
Hopefully.

...But that's still just a few hundred at most out of hundreds of thousands. We need to try aiming bigger somehow.
Thing is we just don't have power on that scale. The ability to hold up an entire city? It's just not feasible. Not with our powersets. People are going to die. We really can't prevent that entirely. All we can do is evacuate the absolute maximum number of people. The majority of this city is doomed unless Sabrina suddenly invents interdimensional travel and shows up to save it for us.

I see we finally defeated Walpy, that's great! Now we're falling to our deaths, that's bad.

Hope this works!

I strongly disagree with the level of people saved- one building isn't an evacuation, it's an afterthought. We could at least try for more the way the Kine vote does.

I get that you disagree on a moral level, Ugo. That's not what we're arguing. We're arguing for a working plan. Saving the entire city does not yet have a plan that would work. It sucks that a large portion of the city is going to die, but we can't really save them. With timestop and a team of our size, we should be able to grab a fair number of people, but that's the best we can do that actually has a realistic plan. If we had a plan to save the whole city that could actually work? I'd be all for it, but we don't.

Ok, I also think that only a building would be too little. So what about this?

[X] Find a large piece of the city falling debris than seems more or less stable. You'll need to be able to stop it from being destroyed using nothing but Akane, chains and platforms.
[X] Give Homura as many seeds as all the group can spare (leave a few cleanses to help save the debris we are falling), use timestop and have everyone gather every civilian they can find and toss them in the debris we choose.

Ugo's vote is quite literally - and I am sorry that I can say this - the single dumbest vote I have ever seen not only in this quest, but in basically all my time questing (which does include the original AQ).

[X] Find a nearby building of reasonable size. You'll need to be able to stop it from being destroyed using nothing but Akane, chains and platforms.
[X] Using timestop as much as is safe (leave a few cleanses to help save the building), have everyone gather every civilian they can find and toss them in the building.

You toss Homura a grief seed as soon as you can, before you turn towards a nearby building...it's the remains of the tallest skyscraper in Mitakihara. More specifically, it's the uppermost levels of it, torn straight from the rest of the structure. You grit your teeth, do a soaring leap, and turn. "AKANE! KYOUKO!"

"The whole place is fucking falling apart!" Kyouko sputters, before suddenly, air resistance takes its toll. The city begins to completely shatter, and you see innocent people, hundreds of them, free-falling. "Sayaka what are-!"

"Chains! Superstrength! ANYTHING!" You scream, before you whip out the longest sword you can. You pull, before you see a chain and a pair of hands rip it from the chunk of concrete that it's embedded in. Everything's falling apart around you, and you turn towards Homura. "Timestop! We're saving these people!"

"What are you doing?!"
Homura shouts. "We're so close!"

"I can't let everyone die!" You shout back. "I'm going to save as many as I can!"

Immediately, you see Kyouko start to clench her teeth, before she shakes her head. "She's right. She's right."

[17,487 METERS TO IMPACT]

At the top, above your heads, a chunk of debris explodes, revealing something enormous and black. It's easily the size of a small building...and then it shoots towards the ground and past the debris.

[OPTION SELECT]

[] Go after it.

[] Civilians first.

[] Continue the plan.

Difficult decision, I will always priority the lives of the civilians, but we are almost without of seeds, maybe we could save more lifes if we cAtchison that hominids seed.
