SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

Also, if we let the city impact at terminal velocity (even if we rescue the people), that is likely to create a BIG boom. How big, IDK, but we don't want to be anywhere near it when it happens...

I estimate this city has the mass of a small mountain. In the range of 1e13kg. Potential energy is 1e13*18000*9.81 ~ 1.75e18 joulles. That's enough to keep a modern country running for a year. Or about 500 megatons of TNT.

We're going to need a bit more than a parachute to survive this.

Not going to vote for anything that has us knowingly leaving people to die, but not sure about viability of shield stuffing.

[x]Homura, timestop, now!
-[x]Ask her if she can store people in her shield. Fast.
[x]Tie everyone together. Rope. Kyouko's chains, anything.
[x]Keep feeding Homura cleanses. Bring anyone we can into timestop.

Yaknow, now that I think about it we could probably have used that gear to lower the thing slowly. Oh well, I hardly think we could have known that with the info provided. It probably would have just regenerated half way through and doomed us all. Options:

Retrorockets! Put loads of massive cannons on the underside and fire them downwards to bleed off speed.

Parachute pants! Grab your team of meguca and jump! Platform hop slowly down.

Go Go HomuCopter! Have Homura pull a helicopter out of her shield, fly off into the sunset.

Lithiobraking. Wah! Huh! What are we good for? Absolutely nothing! Crash to the earth, destroy everything.

Could someone remind me of the abilities of all the other girls? I can't remember for shit. Was there some kind of crystalbender or something?

Go Go Parachute Pants! Have Homu take off with the rest in a helicopter. Stay and attempt to slow the descent with massive boost plates and a giant Koko spear.

So if we dont find a way to stop the city the explosion will destroy almost all of Japan, and the tsunami that will produce will annihilate almost all the pacific islands and the west coasts of both Americas.

Any ideas?

Could we catch the city using chains, barriers, and what not to decelerate it?

Holy shit you're making the situation look a lot worse than it actually is.

My own totally inaccurate back-of-a-napkin calculations suggest an impact force of ~40 megatons, but the point is that it's just a Very Bad Thing we should try not to be anywhere near. The details are irrelevant beyond 'big boom'

Clearly our best bet is to initiate a massive explosion in the city below us, cushioning our fall with the blast.

Time to detonate a giant sword encased in rending blade!

Take a tip from Fighter. Block the ground.
Too unrealistic. Obviously we need to find a way to put Akane under the city and have her block it.

Joking aside, I could see that if Tomo and Yoko were here, experimented with their powers a lot more, and had a lot of Grief Seeds, that they could help with their powers. But the cost of it would be enormous and it would most likely result in a Witch Out within a second or few.

Umm... maybe the impact won't be so bad because magic? Heh... about half the world is totally screwed, isn't it?

Ok, so. Let's focus on what's important yeah? The main point of this is that we're going down, and we have mere seconds - up to a very few minutes - to act, so let's think on something that can gets us out of this mess.

Hmm... I like the idea of finding a way to actually use chains and tie us to something, but we could also... I don't know, jump out of the witch and find our way to the river or something. Another thing is to step onto a platform big enough and then jump into the river.

I think the river might work. It's deep enough to hide inside a battlecruiser after all. Thoughts?

Using the river to cushion our fall is likely a futile effort. After a certain velocity, water may as well be concrete.

Now if you could find a way to decrease its density...

We have exactly 60.6091 seconds until impact.

We need to achieve 3 objectives in that time:

1) We need to suvive a free fall from 18,000 meters, we can achive this easily with chains and boosts.

2) We need to save as many people as possible. This is the most difficult part but is also extremely important, if we don´t manage to do this we have two equaly probable scenarios happening , Sayaka, driven by despair and guilt, becomes a Oktavia or Madoka contracts to save the city, resulting both in bad ending. For this the only option can see is to give Homura as many seeds as possible (an if we can find Walmarts´seed we should also give it to her) and coordinate with her to catch the civilians.

3) We need to get safely to the ground and survive the fall of debris, If the girls were alone this will be almost as easy as the first objective, but since we have civilians to protect this will be much more complex, the only methods I can think are: use barriers and blade bloks to slow the debris, try to destroy the debris with Akane before it lands or use Homura´s timestop to get the hell aout fo there.

...Wait. Since we did beat Walpurgus Night, shouldn't it have turned into a grief seed? ...we did beat it right? Or am I missing something?
