I'd really rather cleanse first, too. However, playing defensive against Mami, who has thus far penetrated all of our other defenses without any trouble, can't possibly end well.

That's a pretty cool idea (shame we haven't used them as landmines before, far as I remember), but even if we're throwing them right at Mami, that leaves completely vulnerable to her quite deadly attacks until we're done.I'm also thinking maybe throwing swords as a warm-up. Litter the enclosed area with swords embedded in the ground (assuming they miss Mami) if we can't close in on her directly, and use them as explosives at a later point in the fight. That could gain us the element of surprise if we can't take her down in straight combat.
Keep in mind with Ran, Chou, and Yuri comes whoever they're fighting. Since the fights have gone to the ground again, I'm sure they joined in somewhere (Ran and Chou, that is).In response to what Kinematics points, I have to say we need either Ran, Chou, Yuri, or the help of all three. Looking at this from one perspective, Sayaka and Kyouko are knights fighting against a gunMami. Technology, and victory, are almost certainly in favor with the gunman.
There is a good point in letting a gunman fight a gunman, which is why I think Yuri should join this fight. Even if she is nowhere near the experience Mami is, her power of nullifying the noise of her gunshots make her an almost ideal sniper. If she can stay back far enough (given Mami's weapons are muskets, I'm assuming they're effective as far as Mami can see her target) and still score a hit or two, not even critical ones, they'll keep Mami from staying completely focused on us.
Ran has regeneration as her power, so she, in comparison with Fullmetal Alchemist, is a homunculus with her power being regenerating under all circumstances. Even if Mami shoots her until she's riddled in bulletholes, she'll recover and could still hit back while bullet-riddled.
Could it mean we suffer two loses? Yes, but that's what Sayaka and Kyouko are there to keep from happening.
Until we get a solid plan down, I'm withholding my voting right.
We tried something similar with Haruko. It didn't take. That's a pretty cool idea (shame we haven't used them as landmines before, far as I remember), but even if we're throwing them right at Mami, that leaves completely vulnerable to her quite deadly attacks until we're done.
Hmm. OK.
Against Mami, it does seem more viable (less chance of lolwindbarrier), and we've come a long way since then, but I wouldn't count on it being a success.Hmm. OK.
Will go with this vote for now, for the sake of moving the bandwagon. Would still like to leave a few swords around as landmines, even if it's not a primary action, but not sure exactly how I'd want to implement it. Do need to be wary of grief cost, though, if we're not cleansing ahead of time.
[x] Co-op with Kyoko
[x] Have Kyoko fence her in with chain barriers and run in yourself to keep the pressure on her.
[x] Kyoko can attack with the chain-spear from afar while we have Mami distracted.
[x] Destroy the false Mami
[x] Cleanse

Maybe just state in the vote that if she strays too close to a dropped sword to just detonate it rather than leave it for a later decision. Also, I'm not too sure about that one, so I'll wait and see what the thread thinks on this one.Digging into past bits of the quest, I think every summoned sword is the equivalent of the Dense Blade, at +5 corruption each.
Considering adding the following:
-[] When fighting Mami, avoid ribbon grappling at all costs. If she ribbons the shield, cut the ribbons with the sword. If she ribbons a sword, let her have it and summon another. They're useless to her, so they should get dropped to the ground. We can use them as land mines later if we need a surprise effect.
PLOT TWIST: Despite her love of music, Sayaka has a tin ear, and as such cannot carry a tune. -100 modifier, Song is so bad Kyoko defects to Walpurgisnacht's side, rolls a nat 1 for offense, trips and cuts the Mami familiar in half.[jk] use music magic
-[jk] sing a heartfelt song to awaken Mumi's dormant soul.
--[jk] rolling for effectiveness
Main problem is that we can only really take advantage of it once, unless the area is just littered with swords. After that she'll start trying to avoid them. Still, probably better to keep the trigger ready in the vote. Hm. What if I butcher those a bit?Main problem is that we can only really take advantage of it once, unless the area is just littered with swords. After that she'll start trying to avoid them. Still, probably better to keep the trigger ready in the vote. Amending the idea some.

-[] Detonate the swords as mines when you think you can get a good surprise effect, and both of you can take advantage of it.
-[] Notify Kyouko of your planned usage once any swords get tossed to the ground.
