SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

I trust the half-asleep opinionated man. He speaks wisdom.

[X] Gadjo

[x] Co-op with Kyoko
[x] Have Kyoko fence her in with chain barriers and run in yourself to keep the pressure on her.
[x] Kyoko can attack with the chain-spear from afar while we have Mami distracted.

"Okay..." You mutter. 'Fence her in.'

'Got it.'

'Oh, and one more thing?'
Mami keeps grinning as you talk to Kyouko.

'Yeah. I know.' Kyouko says. 'Love you, too.'

And with that, you both separate with a jump. Mami's head jerks over towards Kyouko before she's immediately fenced in with a barrier of chains. Without a second thought, she blasts through the chains with a volley of bullets, before she replaces her hand with a series of ribbons, and whips it right towards you.

Your eyes widen as soon as it happens, and you raise your shield on instinct.

The ribbon glances off of your shield as soon as it happens, before she fires with the other arm. The shot bounces off an awkward angle of your armor, while another does the same with Kyouko's own armor.

You're sent spinning backwards by the force of the shot. Even with a glancing blow, it fucking stings. You look over to see her turning away from the broken chain barrier and right towards you as she retracts her ribbon arm and sends another set right towards your leg.

It wraps around your foot immediately, and before you can slice it away, she whips you right into the air. Kyouko tries to head over to free you, only to dodge you awkwardly.

'Shit!' Kyouko whips her head around and sends a chain right around the False Mami's neck...and is immediately yanked towards her. Kyouko lets go on instinct before letting herself slide across the ground and raise a new spear after putting up a new barrier.

Mami breaks through, but even though you're being flailed around, you can tell that it still eats up a precious two seconds to destroy a barrier.

[x] Destroy the false Mami

Easier said than done.

[OPTION SELECT]

[] More co-op with Kyouko.
-[] Put up more barriers!
-[] Different plan.

[] Write-in a plan.

[] AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Shit. I thought stopping to shoot out the barriers would slow her down. Should have guessed she'd do the autofire trick.

Apparently not. Well, I'm out of ideas. She can just break through anything we could fence her in with, and she's too fast to catch up to. Anyone else got a plan? 'Cus just rushing her ain't gonna work.

Tempted to vote for the AAAAAAAAA because yeah why the hell not. Is how I feel right now.

Also, at least we're still in 70% corruption. Hope that doesn't change for a while.

Hmm... we need to close the gap. Also, spam and tossing blades... though that's costly and we kinda can't afford the extra corruption right now. I think the emotional damage starts to kick in at 80% right?

If we get yanked towards Mami, we can boost into her and tear her apart.

[]Be the tank. Try grappling Mami off Kyouko with a whipsword.
[]If it works or if she tries to grab us...Offensive boost and stab her with a rending blade.

Mami is pretty OP. Hmmm. Explosions to obscure vision? Boosting to close?

Last time didn't she just pull us up, not towards her?
Sayaka: "Alright, now it's time for some proper strategy! Kyoko, fence her in!"
Kyoko: "Done!"
Mami: "Lolno." *breaks barrier*
Sayaka: "Oh no, she's ribboned my leg! Better cut the ribbon!"
Mami: "Lolno. PULL!" *throws Sayaka into the air like a damn clay pigeon*
mumi op pls nerf

Also, I changed a bit of the post. The barrier is slowing her down, even if she's blazing through them.
Fucking W+Mumi1's. Also, interesting, but only useful as a distraction at best.

Edit: However, a distraction is about the only tool left to us at this point. Might be all we need...

Mumi attack and Sayaka defend, both pitiful. Luckily, we're a little less pitiful.

Two seconds per barrier, huh? What we can we do in two seconds? Also, we're still being flung around a bit...

[x] AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

[x] Write-in Plan

I kind of feel like we might want to give Homura a grief seed and just ZA WARUDO this one (presumably with a direct melee attack during the time stop) So
[x] Cut the ribbon
[x] Call for Homura
-[x] Have her Time Stop and then we Slice Mami to ribbons with melee attacks
-[x] Give her 2 more grief seeds
[x] Cleanse

Barrier to slow her down, to give us time to throw exploding swords around her, boost to melee? We need to close without getting shot/ribboned...

OK, Mami has gotten her missing hand back, and it gives her exceptional range.

Random idea: Summon a swarm of needles aimed directly into the ribbon she's holding us with, and when they embed, explode them? Depends on whether that or just cutting with the sword seems easier.

I wouldn't bet on a Homura plan being at all workable. She dodged two dozen Wave Rends, and once she has a hold of Homura, all timestop shenanigans are moot.

Which is why we'd be using a direct melee attack instead of a ranged attack. Our mistake before was giving her a few fractions of a second to dodge. If we melee attack, by the time she could start moving, our sword would already have started cutting.

Should we just go straight back to timestop, though? I know we need to finish her quickly, but I don't want to go straight back to it, if for no more than the metagame reason that the GM probably won't allow the exact same trick to work twice in a row unless we go way the hell overboard and nuke her from orbit.

So, first we have to cut the ribbons, because we can't run up to her or fire at all accurately while we're being flung around like a damn dog toy. Then, the only plan that seems like a viable way to approach Mami would be to find some way to get way into melee range, stay there, and then back her up against a barrier and shred her. Any thoughts on how to close the distance? Because if this goes on much longer our second goddamn attempt will be used up getting pancaked by Walpurgis.

Edit: about the chain, I don't think Kyoko has much fine control over those, otherwise that'd be pretty useful.

Direct melee means she enters timestop. Once she's figured out timestop, she'll keep a ribbon on Homura in order to prevent her from using it. So let's avoid that. A better idea would be to use wave-rend in timestop, while also sending rends towards the areas she'd dodge to in order to avoid the main attack (I'm pretty sure this strategy was mentioned earlier, but didn't make it into the final vote)

True. The only reason I suggest this is the absolute speed at which Mami was able to a) dismantle our tactical countermeasures and then b) gain the upper hand (against 2 opponents, no less) suggests that we and Kyouko are far too slow to stand a chance of defeating her.

She'd only be able to enter time stop for the brief period of time in which we were directly in contact with her, i.e. when she's being sliced in two. Hardly enough time to both dodge and mount a counterattack. Mami's fast, but not that fast. If she dodges, she exits timestop again, and if she doesn't, she dies. Win-win, really.

I know I said not to worry too much about conservation, but at that rate we'd run out seeds. We still have to kill all the other familiars (and hope to god anyone we lost died rather than witching out), and then get our asses back up to Wally to smack her out of TPK'ing us again. I'm not saying we can't timestop here, but let's make sure that's really our only course of action before we use it.
