SayakaQuest Thread 10: Glory To The Death

Ohhhhhhhhh. Seems like basic adventuring paranoia to me. And besides, why do we have our glowing weakspot just out in the open on the front of our body when up against a fairly accurate sniper? We should probably move it somewhere or conceal it if possible.
We have armor over that, last I checked. Only issue is we know she can shoot through it.

Oh. Yeah, I "Shadowrun." It's how my brain works. xkcd 337 is applicable to how I approach everyday living.

[x] Co-op with Kyoko
[x] Destroy the false Mami
[x] Cleanse

What does shadowrunning mean? I tried google and could not find the answer. I mean, I figured out that it's connected to some metacharacteristic of the gameplay of the Shadowrun tabletop game, but as I've never played that game, I don't have the proper frame of reference.
Every
game requires some paranoia. 'Shadowrun' is unreasonable paranoia, brought about by the level of paranoia necessary to survive a game of Shadowrun (since using the name of the game Paranoia wouldn't really tell you anything).

Some people, however, use it to refer to any level of paranoia at all, which muddies the meaning, and is used as an excuse to dismiss another player's concerns rather than argue them directly. The fact that it's 'unreasonable' paranoia, though, means that everyone pretty much interprets the meaning differently.

Please do not poke the Moid. Not when he posted the Mumi picture in a presumably good mood. I don't want to bad end on the same familiar twice, and I definitely don't want to bad end the whole quest after so long.

(For clarification, Moid hates Mami head jokes, and he'll give us a penalty to all of our rolls if we make too many).

Since I'm bored, and the current vote is horribly vague, any thoughts on exactly how we're supposed to beat Mami? I expect we're going to need slightly more intelligence in this fight than simply hitting the "beat Mami" button.

Her current wounds are a missing left arm and one of her legs (not specified), though the leg has been replaced by a ribbon. She's fast enough to dodge timestop-spawned Wave Rends. She has essentially perfect accuracy as a marksman, though hopefully limited by the lack of a second arm, for the purposes of aiming.

Her ending shot in the death update had the bullet go clean through Sayaka's chest, which means it went through two layers of armor and a heavy greatsword, in addition to the minor resistance of our body.

Her ribbons ripped off Kyouko's arm, and everyone should be familiar with how versatile they are. Ribbons are entangling weapons, and can easily immobilize us, as well as grabbing weapons or shields to rip away from us. Do we have a means of breaking free if we're trapped? They also increase her maneuverability, and cutting one off is only a minor setback, as well as serving as a pretty substantial defense.

We know that she's fast, and is unlikely to be significantly hindered by double-teaming. We don't know whether the familiar has the same personality quirks that might allow us to get an edge if we take her by surprise.

Given all of the above, what actual plans might be of use? Or do plans not matter in a Moid quest where it's nothing but rolling dice with preset numbers? (Mainly because I don't think I've ever once seen a dice roll modifier based on situational advantages.)

So far as concrete plans, we could fence her in with chain barriers, and approach her aggressively while Kyoko harasses her with long-ranged chain-spear attacks. I always assumed going in with a plan changed the victory and failure outcomes. If your plan was really safe, and you fuck it up, you get hurt. But if you just pressed the "Kill badguy" button and charged him you'd get rekt for screwing up without any plan at all.

Edit: if you do want to go in with a plan, I'd recommend you think of one now, 'cus Moid seems to be running things a lot faster for the final boss and if you wait much longer you'll probably get votelocked before you can dispel an entire bandwagon.

Double Edit: on that note, what do you guys think of that plan anyway?
[x] Co-op with Kyoko
[x] Have Kyoko fence her in with chain barriers and run in yourself to keep the pressure on her.
[x] Kyoko can attack with the chain-spear from afar while we have Mami distracted.
[x] Avoid ribbon grappling at all costs. If she ribbons your shield, cut the ribbons, and if she ribbons your sword, drop it and summon a new one.
[x] Tell Kyoko to stay clear of dropped swords (via telepathy).
[x] If she gets too close to a dropped sword, detonate it (provided you and Kyoko aren't too close).
[x] Destroy the false Mami
[x] Cleanse

Edit: lines added to vote.

Consider this: In the Barbara fight, Sayaka got a good roll to avoid even though she did something that was ostensibly foolish.

She still got her arm melted off.

Making a bad decision, such as rushing in without a plan, will still have me fiating the fuck out of you, and whatever good roll you get will be offset by the fact that you made a bad decision.

While good, I'd almost rather barrier her in and cleanse.
