A side thought: An excess Meguca-to-Witch proportion and grief seed scarcity has been a background thing for awhile now (from Kyubey getting immigrants to come in and apparently making lots of contracts from and following our city-smashing battle royale with the Tokyo crew); what to do if we're actually getting to Witch depletion? I could see some Megucas trying to claim that aggressive familiar-farming is actually a better idea than letting a territory get so overfull of megucas and starved of witches that fighting over grief seeds becomes a thing, since unrestrained fighting will probably cause even more collateral casualties.

...mind, I'm not saying that's what these girls will claim they're doing, since we have hardly any information on them so far. It's just the first thing that popped into my head, cuz I'm getting paranoid about hitting that wall when we're not ready for it.

...[jk]Of course, the optimal strategy is to let Walpurgisnacht kill 3/4 the meguca population, scarcity solved...

We really should ask Ako what her Ex looks like, so we don't accidentally kill her or let her die or anything. And her powers, so that's one less unknown we have to deal with. And we should ask Ako to back us up, because she fucking brought this problem with her in the first place (or is at least partially to blame).

And can't we just heal Ako's throat or whatever, so that she can speak? Since telepathy isn't an option, we need some form of communication that isn't really slow/useless in the middle of a fight.

If they were they wouldn't need to be here. This encounter's primary difficulties are probably going to be emotional in nature. Lots of room for Kokosads.

And right now she's kind of wibbly-wobbly. Given her normal thought process, do we really want to risk it while she's Griefed, stressed, and depressed?

One point that's been confusing me regarding Akane. Why isn't she a lightning bruiser outside her armour? That level of strength, unburdened by equivalent muscle, should translate directly into a ridiculous level of speed. I know that if she ran as hard as she could concrete would feel like packed sand to her, but surely there's techniques to mitigate that.

Or is her strength a purely conceptual "she exerts immense force on things she touches" type deal and I'm just blowing hot air?

But more seriously, if Akane did have Super Speed along with her ability to destroy anything she got her hands on, remember Sukuyo's power is freaking invulnerability and Akane broke right through that, she'd be pretty broken as a character regarding in quest combat, so from a Meta perspective Akane can't really BE a lightning bruiser. I could mumble stuff like "MG's, even if enchanced, can't precieve/quickly turn at those high speeds unless their actual wish was speed related," or "Unless their contract is Speed related they don't get boosts to their speed," or "Akane hasn't explored that facet of her powers yet." But it'd be all bullshit made up to justify Akane not turning the combat system into a fine red mist with her bare hands like she can MG's.

It's like Homura vs Haruko in a way. Think of the current situation, there's 6 new MG's here feeding people to familiars. Homu could damn well easily time stop gank most of them if she showed up. She hasn't because she'd just trivialze the encounter. So, much like Haruko no selling Homura till Homu got out of the fight, Homu isn't going to just time stop gank all of Sayaka's combat problems away when asked.

She is about as fast as your average meguca, which is already pretty fast.

If she were to attempt to use her additional strength to plow through Mitakihara, she'd reduce the pavement to a fine powder and would basically destroy everything she tried running on. So she'd basically be the human equivalent of a truck running its tires through the mud.

Also, she's already got enormous stranth. No need to give her superspeed as well.
 
I knew there was a game balance reason as well, I was just curious about the fluff reason. I'm kind of anal about shit like that.

Ako nods, as do Kyouko and Akane.

"Let's go." You say, and as soon as you do, you all do a flying leap into the sky. You crack your knuckles as you all start running over, and immediately, you have a glimpse. Five girls, near five smaller barrier entrances...and with a few unconscious people around them.

Akane is the first to reach it, and as soon as she does, she stops. "...Ako wasn't lying."

No, I'm not actually suggesting doing this- I just think it'd look cool. But unfortunately, cool =/= good idea.
 
Diplomacy time this isn't. We've got surprise on our side (assuming Ako isn't gonna go CURSE YOUR SUDDEN BUT INEVITABLE BETRAYAL), and we need to get those civilians out of there.
