Cynically, more cannonfodder to throw at walpurgis is always good... not that it couldnt go wrong.

You smile before you speak in horrible, horrible broken English. "But English is the fun subject, that I like it very unmuch!"

Kyouko stares at you for several good, long, agonizing seconds. "...You're a dork."

You frown. "...Aw."

"But you're a cute dork."

"Yay!"

"So...uh...know any other magical girls?" You ask.

She shakes her head. "I-it was really j-just me and one o-or two..." She frowns. "I d-dunno if anyone else is still a-alive or if they were k-killed..."

"...Have you thought about how you're going to tell your family about the..." You gulp. "...Evacuation?"

"I-I..." She bit her lip. "No. N-no, I haven't."

"You're going to need to, Sukuyo."

"I kn-know." She says. "B-but it's hard, y-you know?"

"I know." You nod. "I really do."

You give Kyouko a tight hug around her waist, and she lets out a squeak. Immediately, she returns the favor, and then it's your turn to squeak. You giggle a little, before you rub your face into her neck.

You just relax with each other as everyone else goes into smalltalk. You forget that Kyouko's family is gone, and that she was, up until just a few weeks ago, homeless. You forget that earlier, she had half of her body melted, and that you were close to becoming a monster. You forget everything...because right now, she's more important.

She's always been more important.

'Yo, Tomo.'

She blinks. 'Sayaka?'

'Waddya think about Akane?'

'...She's nice.' Tomo says. You raise an eyebrow.

'...And...?'

'She's kind, she's a good mentor...she's prett-' She stops herself as a bright red blush appears on her face. '...Oh.'

Uh oh. '...Tomo, I've been where you're at.' You frown. '...Pretty sure you've got it bad.'

'...It...I just admire her!' Tomo says.

'Bullshit.' You say. 'You really should talk to her about it.'

'B-but...' She looks at Akane some more, before she shakes her head. 'B-but I don't like girls like...!' She shakes her head. '...this is so confusing!'
