Sardonyx: Scion and Trinity Continuum

I am doing the exact opposite. Scion already had the 'flooded with shitty material' phase. The last thing I want is the Open Gaming License version of Scion. (shudders as he recalls all the crappy OGL products).
My view is that if there's one Dreamscarred Press or Earthscorpion tier creator, it'll make the chaff worth it.

What happens to those goals not met? Like, how many other categories does the Bestiary have? It makes me wonder, you know? I mean, I assume in the long-term they plan to have expansions beyond the two main corebooks?

Shame that Satyrs aren't going to be able to get in this time. I mean, I'm sure they'll eventually have them in some expansion or something, but, 10k in two hours? Not going to happen.

I know it's crazy, but part of me hopes to use the Storypath system as the basis for finally making a way to run Eclipse Phase which compromises between being rules light and rules heavy. I have a hell of a time trying to conceptualize how to represent Morphs though. Maybe they're one of the few things that can add dice besides Momentum, but the most dice you could get would be like, +3 or +4? Which would be huge, admittedly. Or maybe some of them might have a lower TN or Higher Scale for stuff?

I wish we had a more concrete idea of how Scale works in practice so I could fiddle with it.

Scion: Teotl Preview
Teotl Preview!

Aztec Pantheon Preview

HAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

YESSSSS

I LOVE IT

real conviction is cutting out the hearts of your enemies

unless they're the lowest sort of scum, in which case you bash open the backs of their heads

@Revlid

I'd like you to know I'm very pleased with what I'm seeing. Mexican myth is something near and dear to my heart, and I think the team did it justice.

I'm also glad there's no mention of fucking Hernan Cortes, nor are there any allusions he's actually Quetzalcoatl.

Agree that the Teotl preview is made of win, especially the overall sacrifice theme.

With regard to Hernando, I actually liked the way he was handled in 1E; not Quetzalcoatl himself, but one of his Scions. His conflict over being a devout Christian who gets told that not only are heathen gods real, but one of this is his father, and he was born to go and destroy his fathers people, was a nice touch.

The issue here, which I just found out when I looked it up, is that the idea the Aztecs thought he was a god was made up well after the fact and was basically 'tee hee, look at this silly superstitious natives'.

Oh, the other issue is that is casts the Spanish conquests as approved of by even a part of the Teotl. And the part that Scion 1e casts as the most morally upright of the Teotl/Atzlanti, at that.

Well, yes, it wasn't perfect, but parts of the idea were pretty cool. I mean, it's a great intern conflict.

I mean, "part of it is cool" kind of is the thing with most of White Wolf's things.

And on the other conversation, it's nice to see that their purview doesn't seem to suck unlike in 1E. Or maybe I never understood how to make it work properly in 1E.

So I've been devouring all the previews i can find for scion after realising that there was a lot more than I realised available. The issue is I keep seeing people refer to a preview of the greek gods that I can't find.

Does it exist? Is it a kickstarter-backer only preview or am I just bad at google?

Nope, right here.

You know what? Let me link the others too.

Theoi

Netjer

Tuatha

Side note, for the Netjer, I believe I remember Neall mentioning that they were slated for revision.
Thanks, guess my google-fu was just weak.

Sweet, Hestia made it in! My hypothetical scion of hers had to endure the start of the Hobbit but with a bunch of Olympians before his visitation proper.

I hope they elaborate a little on what the Eleusianian Mysteries are in the modern world.

I know I found the thread for the Netjer and people were complaining about some gods being combined, but I cam't see it myself.

Side note: After reading about Centaurs that are part motorcycle rather than part horse I am imagining a band of scions crossing the outback and basically ending up in mad max. Half mad centaurs, satyrs and other beings roaming the desert as Apep ravages it. Mortals hide in their homes or join the bands, with a few of the wiser aborigines hiding in the dreamtime (which I really should research. It bugs me that I know significantly more about the Greek, Egyptian and Norse mythologies and basically none about any beliefs of the aborigines)

All I really want is the ability to call down a swarm of murderous hummingbirds as the Scion of Huitzilopochtli.

*checks*

Yeah, that's a thing.

Bast and Sekhmet are usually completely different feline warrior goddesses (one's a cat-headed protector, one's a lioness-headed destroyer. They fight crime), which is one of many things about the preview that made my Egyptian-mythology-nerd friend go "that's a weird choice..."

Yeah, those two have been syncretized a lot by "experts".
...said "experts" usually add in Hathor as well, seemingly just because...

Damnit, I need to know Freyr's purviews, mantles & whatnot for a crossover fic idea I've had since I first read 1E. Well, I guess Neville Longbottom will just have to ripoff Eren Jaeger have Jotunblut.
...huh, I've been reading Jotunblut wrong all this time? Now I feel embarrassed.

Could always make shit up extrapolate. Take his 1e purviews, add in Passion and Prosperity, pick three appropriate callings (I'd go Healer, Lover, Warrior as a first pass), then check out the Aesir virtues (Fatalism (our lives are woven by the Norns, and we are fated to our end) and Audacity (Fate can go fuck itself! Drengskapr ahoy!) and freeform magic motif (The destinies spun by the Nornir can be changed through drawing runes or magical weaving).

Granted, you'll have to fudge what all that means mechanically until the system drops in May, but that'd be true even if the Aesir had gotten a full preview.

How do I even begin picking out Mantles for Freyr? 'cus it's a very specific persona of his that I need.
