This is at least in part for @Omicron, as it's inspired by some of what his Luppi does in Now You Feel Like Number None.

The rest is, of course, so you can be the Predator. Which is something @Aleph wanted.

Just remember to know the name of John Connor's dog before using it.

VOICE FROM THE WOODS
Cost
: 2m; Mins: Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-OK
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Palate Without Limit

"Help me!" calls out your missing friend. Don't follow their voice. It's coming from Metagaos' gullet.

This Charm supplements an action where the Infernal mimics the voice of another or another noise, such as the roar of a wild animal or even the sound of a waterwheel. The Infernal may ignore any physiological barriers or obstacles to her making the noise, allowing her to speak with strange behemoths in their native tongue that no human mouth could speak or mimic the sounds of a whole crowd. Additionally, characters are at +4 difficulty to notice that the sound is false. If the Infernal has tasted the subject of her mimicry in the current scene, characters require inhuman sensory acuity to recognise the deception. Note that this Charm only applies to hearing - obviously if another character can see the Infernal when they speak in the voice of their missing friend, pointed questions may be asked.

At Essence 3, this charm upgrades, allowing the Infernal to "throw" her voice, making it appear to come from anywhere within (Essence x 4) yards of her in an act of voracious ventriloquism.

At first I thought Lunars were more like Predator, but when I think about it Yautja would totally blend into the crowd in Malfeas.

This brings me to the topic I'd like to bring up for discussion: how far do you think a writer should be able to wander from the hardline mechanical bones of Exalted in service to the narrative? For example, it more-or-less makes sense for a Metagoian Infernal to possess the ability to heal people they've infected with seeds by eating a living creature (human, if at all possible) and then immediately vomiting the processed remains into a wounded minion's mouth like a Lovecraftian mother bird. Does that make it alright to include such a thing in the story without having to work out the mechanical implementation of such an ability?

As long as the prospective effect passes all the narrative tests that would be applied to some Charm, you don't actually have to care in the slightest whether your idea would be Reflexive or Supplemental or how much it'd cost in terms of motes or whatever. You just have to keep in mind the fact that you're still writing for Exalts in Creation, so don't make stuff that would make no sense for Exalts in Creation, like a power that lets you kill other Exalts through their perfect defenses or a power that lets you flawlessly detect when any of your subordinates are planning to betray you.

Little bit more of Szoreny - things that didn't make the main charmset, but might be included if I do a revision or if I (like @Revlid) make an extras document.

I might want to adjust the position of Technique-Stealing Technique and/or Pinprick Pupils Perception if I do that - it feels gutwrong to have two Szoreny "I have mercury in my eyes" Charms in different trees, even if they're coming off the same root.

REMEMBER ME
Cost
: 2m; Mins: Essence 2; Type: Supplemental
Keywords: Combo-OK, Crippling
Duration: Instant
Prerequisite Charms: Envious Heart

Szoreny prefers to leave enemies alive - though not intact. Perhaps the Exalted inverted him to repay him for the twisted limbs of comrades and loved ones.

This Charm enhances a physical attack, leaving microscopic flecks of quicksilver in the wound. As a Crippling effect, any damage inflicted by the enhanced attack is a disabling wound (p152 of the Exalted corebook), even if the character heals as an Exalt. Furthermore, an enhanced attack is always valid for a coupe de grace and ignores the external penalty for performing one

PINPRICK PUPILS PERCEPTION
Cost
: 5-(Essence)m; Mins: Essence 2; Type: Reflexive
Keywords: Combo-OK
Duration: Indefinite
Prerequisite Charms: Wan Washed-Out Faces

Mercury-laden blood surges to the Infernal's eyes, showing the world as Szoreny understands it.

The warlock enjoys the benefits of Keen Sight Technique and Unsurpassed Sight Discipline. While this Charm is active, he treats characters he envies as having an Appearance rating two dots higher and only requires one scene to form an envious Intimacy regardless of his Conviction.

At Essence 5, this Charm upgrades, becoming Permanent.

Going off of Metagaos and its taste enhancers, this Charm should probably be a prerequisite of Technique Stealing Technique. As you say, it feels a tad odd to have two mercury eye Charms with neither of them being directly connected.
That puts it at 4 charms deep into a tree, when (I believe) the perception enhancing charms like this tend to be at the root of various trees instead of the branches.

And more importantly, in a tree that I don't want to pursue with my slayer, lol

Hmm, yes, that is putting some issues I'd had with his tree structure in his Mind tree together.

I'm going to change it, re-arrange things a bit, and put Eternal Rival Reflection after Wan Washed-Out Faces - which means all that stuff lives behind "the people I envy are the most beautiful of all".

Here, incidentally, is an insight into how I build Charm trees. Yes, this is how I lay them out when planning them, and these are the level of notes and Charm concepts I use. This software is UMLet - it's an open source UML editor that's very quick and easy. It's much, much easier to plan out Charm trees and look for "how deep is this Charm" and "is it worth the prereqs" and "is my tree structure horribly lopsided" when you can visualise it in this way.

If I'd had this when I was doing TAW, it would probably have been less of a mess of "throw ideas at the wall and see what sticks".

As you can see, Szoreny's mind tree basically is a bell-curve around Level 3. He's got 1 charm at level 1, 3 at level 2, a fucktonne at level 3, a few at level 4, and hardly any at 5 or above. That's good for an Infernal Charmset - it rewards a bit of investment, but doesn't gate things too deep.

I'm not sure it's accurate to call 10 "a fucktonne" when you're calling 7 "a few"

It's a... somewhat asymmetrical bellcurve, yes.

(Also, this doesn't account for repurchases, I know)

Anyway! Document up-issued, and here are the patch notes. Yes. I have patch notes. I have version control. I have references in my patch notes which hyperlink to changes.

It's really shameful how I'm breaking with White Wolf tradition. I don't even have a Page XX for old time's sake.

Article:
2018-04-04
  • Document up-issued to v1.02.
  • Structure of the charm tree which started with Eternal Rival Reflection has been tweaked, to adjust the flow of the progression.
    • Eternal Rival Reflection now follows Wan Washed-Out Faces.
    • CHARM ADDED - Pinprick Pupils Perception is a sight enhancer (something Infernals lack) following Wan Washed-Out Faces which also means the people you envy are so kawaii desu. And becomes Permanent if you raise your Essence.
    • Technique-Stealing Technique now follows Pinprick Pupils Perception, on the grounds that the charm which lets you steal techniques due to your envious eyes is better off following the charm that gives you envious eyes.
    • Prerequisites for History Rewriting Triumph modified to account for the movement of the location of Technique-Stealing Technique.
  • Reflections Upon Selfhood has been renamed Thousand Shattered Selves, because I kept on mixing it up with Reflection Upon Insight. Appropriate prerequisites and references have also been refactored.

Hey Frakir's Brother, did you ever continue on this?
I've got more plot waiting to be written, but I've been busy with work and school and haven't gotten a block of time in which to beat it out.

Highlights include the reason why despite being fairly close to the edge of Creation, the Dhin'e have fairly few problems with Raksha.
Three martial traditions of the Dhin'e and a sample hero.
More on how they are an odd in between place stick between tribal farmers and civilization.
The Shogunate Dragon of soldiers eternally fighting a horde of Balorian Raksha, and how they were slowly getting free. They both will be loose soon.
A weak line that sometimes produces Dragonblooded, and their current scion.
Exalts that are near that area.

MERCURIAL SAP EMBRACE
  • He adds (Essence)/week to the Tolerance of heartsap and any Poison that affects him. Poison cannot reduce the Infernal below his -1 health levels while heartsap cannot reduce him below his -2 health levels. Any other damage he would take is ignored.
  • So what happens if something has a tolerance period of less than a week already? Is a week added to it? Alcohol has a period of one hour, would a warlock with this charm be buzzed for a week once they drank enough?

... Tolerance is how many doses you can safely tank and how long they take to wear off. A Tolerance of (Essence)/week at E2 means that you can have 2 doses of any Poison in your system before you even start taking damage, and you'll flush a dose out every week whether or not it's still got damage left to do.

For something like alcohol, it just means you can have an extra couple of drinks a week. For something like coral snake venom, normally it has no Tolerance; there is no amount that your system can tank before it starts hurting you - but with this charm not only can you be bitten (Essence) times and go "lol", you'll also flush a dose out every week until they're all gone.

Okay because I'm under the impression that it just increases the tolerance of each poison - so alcohol for an e2 warlock has a tolerance of (Stamina+Resistance+2)/1week and 1 hour, while Yozi Venom has a flat tolerance of 2/1 week.

Unless I'm misreading it, that means that it takes a week longer for alcohol to be flushed from your system than normal

You're misreading it. It does increase the Tolerance, but that means it actually increases it. What you get is (Stamina+Resistance)/hour and then 2/week. You get everything you get normally, then if you fill that up to the point it would start doing anything to you (which happens instantly for Yozi Venom), you can take two more doses that do nothing and go away in a week.

Yep. Now, for alcohol this doesn't mean much because its Tolerance is much shorter duration, so the per-week Tolerance this gives you is pretty meh.

But for something like Yozi Venom, where each dose is horrifically expensive in Creation, or when you're facing a Kimberyian Exalt, those extra (essence) doses you can take before you even notice any ill effects is a vital buffer.

(Szoreny was my experiment in finding things more interesting than mere poison immunity - you can't kill him with poison and he can easily negate the penalties, but it's still damage and you can fill up his buffer against his own self-harming effects if you make a concentrated attempt to poison him. And because Mercurial Sap Embrace is so easy for an Infernal to get, it discourages getting more obscure but more comprehensive Poison defences, making it get played more)

and you can fill up his buffer against his own self-harming effects if you make a concentrated attempt to poison him.
Now maybe this is a point where I misread it, but "adds (Essence)/week to the Tolerance of heartsap and any Poison that affects him" sounds like it applies separately to each poison. If that's the case, it shouldn't be possible to fill up his resistance to his own heartsap.
