I feel like that was some well needed stress relief. Did you just finish reading a really dumb story?
Had a bad Worm flashback

I would prefer Starship Troopers style power armour, it's better and can be used by ordinary humans.
I wonder if we would be better going for something like ethier Zone armour from C&C since it's a good al purpose desgin and can be a useful general purpose suit. Or something like the Honorverse style Battle Armour use it attached to unpowered infantry units to provide heavy support options since it can carry an power some truly heavy weapons for use also it could be configured for recon by swapping the weapons for a greater battery life and sensor package.
There is always the Legacy of the Aldenata series ACS (Armored Combat Suit), provided you don't have the poor workmanship and faulty AI common to such in the original novels.Honorverse heavy suits are essentially much, much, much less capable version of Mobile Infantry suits from Starship Troopers (novel, that is). The MI exists because they can do very targeted missions, in scale from anything that isn't covert espionage action up to level where "next heavy weapon is orbital bombardment". IIRC, there are no tanks in Starship Troopers, because individual MI soldiers can be equipped with everything from a cheap shiv to strategic nuclear weapons - and their continued existence is because you can order MI to kill every left-handed redhead in a city and the city will be still standing with most non-left-handed-non-redhead population alive, but if you order Navy to do so you end up with a crater.
The second I saw that I immediately thought of...
Actually. That's a point. I'm sure she is. Except, she can't do that in Brockton Bay anymore. So. Uhm. That could be a problem for Cauldron.I bet Contessa is spending 99% of her time preventing things like this from happening all over the world.
I bet the opposite. If there is a semi high profile villain killed, this is how they handle them. This way it deters any from trying that after all, complete diversion into an federal agency's remit can do a lot to ruin your life. Of course, they still try to cover up these events using other means if possible.I bet Contessa is spending 99% of her time preventing things like this from happening all over the world.
It might prevent people from going hunting, but I doubt it would stop someone with a concealed carry from using it to defend themselves.I bet the opposite. Its a fun scene.. a shame it kinda happens in a lot of fics. Where no one has any idea of just what it takes to get an arrest warrant or the DA to push for murder.
It most certainly isn't up to captain underpants on the street.
I'd say far less than we'd like to read, and far more than we'd expect.I wonder how many times the Protectorate ends up smeared in shit, over things like arresting normal humans for self-defense, claiming they are parahuman villains.
This is what pisses me off. Wildbow had a perfectly reasonable excuse for the Unwritten Rules -- the Endbringer Truce -- and pissed them away in the name of his holy 'all authorities suck' fetish.I believe its an extension of the Endbringer truce. Which begs the question of why it applies to villains who don't show up to Endbringer fights.
Wait, you mean there's a _good_ _Worm_ flashback?
Ringo very clearly intended the ACS to be the spiritual descent of the _Starship Troopers_ armor. If you don't believe me, just ask him -- he'll tell you. There is always the Legacy of the Aldenata series ACS (Armored Combat Suit), provided you don't have the poor workmanship and faulty AI common to such in the original novels.
Now I want to see Rune, having shot Oni Lee in the head, telling Armsmaster with a straight face that she's not a parahuman -- she was forced by the E88 to give Rune's civilian ID an alibi by being seen on the other side of the city. No, they didn't give any information about who Rune _was_ or what she was doing, sorry.Yes, but in this case, claiming not to be a parahuman tells the PRT/Protectorate to F* Off since you aren't under their jurisdiction. Although they might still have jurisdiction over parahuman related crime, though I wonder how many times the Protectorate ends up smeared in shit, over things like arresting normal humans for self-defense, claiming they are parahuman villains.
Did John Moses Browning create different calibers in Earth Bet, or did you mean .45ACP?

"You idiots. We have powers!"
Actually, she's spending 99% of her time keeping idiots with guns (and knives and blunt weapons and cars and cans of petrol) from trying to murder kids who just triggered.I bet Contessa is spending 99% of her time preventing things like this from happening all over the world.
You forgot the best part. It's exceptionally comfortable.Starship Troopers style power armour?
Honorverse style Battle Armour?
Sry, Perry Rhodan Fan here. give me a SERUN ( Semi-Reconstituent-and-Recycling-Unit) and i am happy
armored, Powered, airworthy (atmospheric max speed Mach 7, Space 0.8c (yes, ca. 240,000km/s)) Energy shield etc.
here a fanart, source perrypedia.de:
"You idiots. We have powers!"
"YEAH!"
-BANG-
"Ahhhhh, it hurts!"
"Getting shot normally does."
"How could you shoot me?!?"
"You were standing still making it very easy for me to aim the gun."
Personally I find those ridiculous. Sure they might not be good at tracing deaths caused by guns but the law probably doesn't make any specific requirement of magic. After all what if someone stabs a wizard to death with a mundane knife? Thanks for the laugh. The idea reminds me of the HP fanon idea where wizards using muggle methods to kill someone can't be charged because they aren't covered by Wizarding laws.
