Distance Learning for fun and profit...

I don't think the Professor was clear enough about the need to be careful around antimatter, though.

Well, I did run out of ideas, but "E, Exceedingly Careful, That's not nearly Careful Enough. F, Fragged- that's what you'll be if you're Not Careful. G, Gamma Ray Bursts, which are caused by Not Being Careful..... V, Vaporized, Which is What You'll Be if You're Not Careful. W, World- The one you're on? It won't be there for long if You're Not Careful. X, eXtremely Careful, Be It. Y, You, The One who has to Be Careful, and Z, Zoom, for what you should do if you see someone Not Being Careful."

I registered just to say how much I am loving this story. Its a very cool premise and I love how it is going so far. As someone noted earlier it would be like dropping the brain of tony stark or reed richards(just his intelligence) into worm. No powers, no shard, just brains to build insane things. It's hilarious to watch some characters in story unable to fathom that a non parahuman can do amazing things.

I will say that I hope the author just keeps going with their vision/ideas and not bow to the ones that get upset that its not "Canon".

I have been reading worm fanfiction for a while now and every time I see a comment about "but thats not canon/WoG" I cringe. The whole point of fanfiction is to do your own stories with the basics of the original story(usually names and location). If i wanted to read about canon worm, I would go read worm again. I applaud authors that just don't regurgitate canon events and timelines for the billionth time. It takes a lot more skill to venture out on your own with only the above basics and build your own world from it. I only read about 5-10 fandoms, but worm seems to be the only one that regularly complains about fanfiction not following "canon/WoG", almost every other fandom embraces it, as that's the whole point.

I thought Legend's name is Keith? It is according to the wiki, anyway.
No citation, no other relevant mention except in the template. Keith is apparently the name of his adopted son. I suspect someone just edited it in and nobody cared enough to revert.

I'm not sure where "Paul" came from, but if anything it sounds more plausible.

wasnt Mr Foot first name unknown and "Paul" a nickname?
I mean unless you want me to believe that someone with a last name like Foot is named Paul of course... seriously Paul, whats next Mr Hebert daughter is Saurial? Pull the other one buddy.
It's a Taylor Varga joke. When Legend first came to Brockton Bay to meet Kaiju, she called him 'Mr. Foot' ('leg end' = 'foot'). She also called Eidolon 'The Grassman' ('Eidolon' = 'I da lawn'), but he didn't take it nearly as well.

Continuing in the same vein.

"Alright. Say Newton was a para human, What are you going to do? Are you going to say his theory of motions are illegal use of para human power? Are you going to charge him for exercising his power to discover calculus, and prevent every maths department from teaching it? Do you somehow intend to extend jurisdiction over every engineering firm using calculus?
My point it we have the same situation here. Someone discovered a more fundamental law of nature, and have taught it to plain jane physics students. They in turn understood it, and used it in practical engineering systems to make a flying thingajig. Your insistance in saying all these are parahuman things is hilarious in grasping at straw. You know, soon we will be teaching this new discovery in every high school physics class along with Newtons three law. You are welcome in planning the arrest of every school children for parahuman activity. You have much experience in that I am sure."

Here's a fun little thought along the same lines.

The broadcast Taylor is getting is an edutainment channel for preschooler equivelents in that race.
It is the equivelent level of our 1+1=2...

Personally, I'm still kind of hoping that this is a college level course she's watching, or even more a "welcome to the multiverse" series that is intended for entire teams of aliens to reverse engineer to learn how to call for the details.

Because I like the idea that even the people making the distance learning materials didn't intend it for someone her education level, or even for just one individual to learn on their own.

They probably work on the assumption that anyone who can recieve the broadcast, is already part of a society that has been using such concepts and technology for some time. The impression I got was that the aliens in the program are a cross between Mister Wizard and Mythbusters.

The HP fandom also has it's loud detractors who complain about not following the stations of canon...

Most fandoms do have similar problems of some sort.

The standard response in a few groups I frequent is "Don't Like, Don't Read and stop complaining"

That's a very strange way to spell 'Fuck off, assholes'.
