I think that Taylor is using the smiurgh as a relay into the shard network to talk to QA.
I think that Taylor is using the smiurgh as a relay into the shard network to talk to QA.
It's a moving source… About… Hmm, elliptical polar orbit, perigee at three hundred and fifty kilometers, apogee at two thousand fifty or so. Retrograde orbit too
Taylor/QA OTPEven Though I'm Estatic that we're back up, all i can think of is that Darpa will be racing to improve Amy's protection now she is apparently dating Taylor (or am I the only one who assumed that?)
The answer is yes, you can whistle-hum. It sounds weird as hell. I only know one person who can do it though. Hint: not me.totally-not-Dragon: "For the last time, Void, just because something is at the extreme cutting edge of technological development does not mean aliens are involved. Have a three-day ban to cool off."
Taylor: *innocent whistle-humming*
Can people even do that? Combine whistling and humming?
whistling under her breath and harmonizing with herself by humming as well.
Why would it? Other than being the best organizer, process manager, and having a lot of brute-force processing, QA really doesn't bring that much to the table. There is that trick of co-opting neural functions of organic species, but it's not really a trick Taylor would be immediately interested in, especially since she's offering Moar DATA on basic physics that makes everything QA does better first. Frankly, she's more likely to want to dive into QA's subspace network modules and see what can be done to beef them up as a first project.@mp3.1415player I expect the science that Taylor does from on to get a bit zany because of her inaction with Queen Administrator shard.
But it left her wondering if the source of powers was actually some sort of idiot savant,

Is telling QA how to better use the subspace bandwith a good thing?
(Insert cover of 'Kyle's Mom is a...', only with 'Kyle' replaced with 'Amy')The other girl shook her head, then propped it up on her fist as she picked at the remains of her lunch, having apparently lost her appetite. "Because she barely looks at me half the time," Amy mumbled under her breath, before sighing.
We just need 7 or 8 bottles of wine, 6 large pizzas, a jar of anchovy paste, and maybe a lizard."Somehow I doubt you can fix this but I appreciate the thought," Amy said after a moment or two, nodding a little.
"You did catch all that, right?"Taylor glanced at one of the janitors on the way out, the man meeting her eyes before going back to cleaning the kitchen waste bins.
Admin: Not yet. Soon™.
*Gets flashbacks of Mauling Snarks*...Look at all that [DATA]!*gets flashbacks of Mutant Deviation*... oh God the horror! Think of the poor space whale worms!
More like "QA jumped ship, gave Taylor root access and told her, 'My body is ready!'"Oh, looks like she jailbroke QA, gained root access and is now going to replace communication part of the default firmware.
No. Deprecated means it is outdated and in the process of being replaced but it is still present in the codebase. This describes Zion, not Eden.
I concur with your guess.{Statement: Compliance. Top level node deprecated. New top level node assigned. Global permissions set to full. Data transmission link unit reassigned to task. Ready}
Top level node deprecated= Thinker is dead.
New top level node assigned=Taylor is new Eden?
Global permissions set to full= unlimited access to shard network?
Recall's datcord's CC and needs scotch.More like "QA jumped ship, gave Taylor root access and told her, 'My body is ready!'"
Oh, looks like she jailbroke QA, gained root access and is now going to replace communication part of the default firmware. I wonder what's next, gonna port and install Doom on it? Maybe that's the origin of the Doom Taylor..![]()
Why am I getting the impression that in the end, Taylor is going to end up with a version of QA that sort of resembles one of these:

Right. I just keep expecting this story to go off the rails and end up in the realm of impossible artifacts of mad science. It just something that is niggle at the back of my mind. Why would it? Other than being the best organizer, process manager, and having a lot of brute-force processing, QA really doesn't bring that much to the table. That is entirely too possible. Speaking Taylor is DOOMed, I just finished up a reread of the story while I wait for SV come back on line. Great story.Oh, looks like she jailbroke QA, gained root access and is now going to replace communication part of the default firmware. I wonder what's next, gonna port and install Doom on it? That is just out there enough for it to happen in this story. QA becomes more efficient from the UI software maximizing its management capacities.Install Linux on QA. Everyone's installing Linux on odder and odder hardware these days.
Simmy shows up in geosynchronous orbit above Taylor's house and presents a mutually beneficial partnership. Simmy gives Taylor knowledge of future events and Taylor gives Simmy scientific data. Of course, there is a bit a communication hurdle.Well it's looking like QA and possibly Simmy are jumping ship to follow brainy Taylor. This should be amusing.
You present valid points to past Taylor/Simurgh contact. However, that does not rule out future contact between them. We will have to wait a see what @mp3.1415player has in store in chapter yet to come.I think we can safely assume that Taylor has not connected with the Simurgh because even though this stories character is Taylor in Name Only and people are far more rational in this story then in canon worm I would still expect a more significant reaction if Taylor was communicating with the Simurgh. Remember the Simurgh is the being so terrifying that people volunteer to have bombs attached to them that detonate if thy are exposed to her long enough to prevent her influencing them.
Except that Groom Lake is for "Super Secret Squirrel" development programs and Vandenburg AFB, CA is for flight testing...
Yeah, you would think that... Until the COTS/GOTS movement got going, government in-house development would not be unknown to run 10 years R&D, 10 years production/tweaking, then 10 years for final distribution... Source: One of the project management commands that was doing an install at one of my commands.
Why does this remind me of something?
-snip-
When you have a "Top Secret development program" that is that open, runs for a decade or more and is going to be fixed 'any day real soon', there are other and better words that describe it then a "Top Secret development program".

Also I hope we don't have yet another Taylor Amy romance since even ignoring the fact that Taylor is canonically straight the Amy Taylor pairing has been done enough in fanfiction that its honestly boring.
Eh, they prefer Earth carrots.hmm if you have a spare planet I'd use that to grow the carrots
I think at this point the only people who aren't are Taylor and maybe Amy.
