[X] Plan: ALL IN, The Flop

Definitely. Militarily ready. Get a bonus action. Next turn we infiltrate the megafreighter, sing a song of revolution (and maybe a song of grounding??) and do 2x civ ship actions. Turn after we launch this darn revolution.

Actually, I'm thinking we just do 1x Civy ship action and spend one action on research for Novel and Experimental Weapons and Armor. Just go all in on upgrading our troops as much as possible. Then just phase in the rest of the Civy ship actions over the following turns.

We just lost a time for our discovery thing.....yay......hope one day we get a song that lets us yoink that shit Caine right out from Vashtor's Forge of Souls and then beat her to a friggin pulp.

Also decided to go with Struggle II for the Melody, to try to (pre) upgrade the song a bit more.

Or would Hope be better? If we have to upgrade one bit of this:

Let Our Souls Ignite The Flames Of Kindred Minds Against The Roaring World - Struggle, Fire, Humanity, Unity, Hope, Song

I'd say hope. The song only upgrades if all of the components are upgraded, and Hope is also part of our research song.

Oh, is that the case? We haven't even done it once yet, so I assumed that differing strength components might (narratively) matter?
HeroCooky's mentioned a few times that the song only upgrades if all of the constitutive melodies are level 2. We should pick one of our songs and focus on it. We're closest to the research song upgrade, only 3 away, while we're 5 away from the other 2.

True, though honestly I'd rather make new Songs than upgrade ones that exist. So I almost wanna get a new Melody, then?

Upgrades are useful though? Like our current Warp travel method is good as is our messaging but if we do like 2-3 actions(or wait 20-30 turns which is more likely) you can get upgrade both of the songs. Two songs that are the cornerstone of our civilization. Plus every enhanced melody on the field is useful for our people. They are still dealing with tier 1 melodies other than Song which is at Tier 3.

Also I am half expecting an extra action behind upgrading a song for the first time. Actually @HeroCooky would we get one?

Edit: Also we absolutely do not do enough with songs and melodies. This is like the our civilizational special trait. Like what are we doing here?

I think its that Songs have unclear outcomes and disappear into the background, while Navy and other options are easy to visualize, there's some concrete numbers to Make Go Up and get a lot more description in threadmarks and side info.

Melodies - I think Justice or Paths could help make good hunting/divination Songs to track down Caine.

Perception/Paths/Justice or along those lines.

Innovation or Machinery would probably be the way to go if we wanted a song to help boost our economy and/or research.

I'm all in for making an entire song to find the magos bitch cause seriously I knew she didn't fucking die back then. Bitch can worship the star father in 5 pieces

See this is why I went and collected all the songs we asked to the QM about and put it together along with the Melodies used to form it, so we could learn HOW the songs work and are formed as well as a post to just pluck a song, look at the title of it and get an idea of what it does.

I really do understand the fleets and such, because its visible gains and not a gamble but it is a big part of our faction and we have an idea of how they work. again as well cost-benefit. we auto-research melodies, ergo a action wasted on them is not a action min-maxing other areas. With Voxx Primus we have an excuse with the action crunch but even then you get see min-maxing the infiltration and such on there focusing on it and barely any on Melodies.

I do hope we can do some after we digest Voxx Primus but again prying out an action from 'but if we do this time it'll be better or pay off sooner'.

Also it does normally go like that. once we get a new melody from the auto-research on it with no rolling and no chance of getting a faith turn but also no ruinous power numbers, we ask a combo of songs with the new one included and just leave it there. I do hope we can spare on near the end of the war.

We have one boosting our research as we speak. It.s by .05 but that's at level one. With 2 actions (or 20 turns auto progress) it can be level 2
This is kind of the problem with Songs. We had confirmation it would help research but we can't know the effect size until after.

Extra research is nice but it takes 20 research actions to pay back the investment. If it takes 2 actions to upgrade the Melodies and the boost goes from 0.05 up to 0.1 additional actions, it will take 60 research actions to pay back total investment (wait is that right? I think so). Much better deal if we passively upgrade it, or if the boost is significantly better at Song II.

I'm not sure if I would have voted for Genius Song if we knew ahead of time it was .05 even if it can get better and I'm a little cautious of Songs after that and Dirge.

Research has this problem too where it gets picked then kind of disappears into the ether doing its job in the background (ex. Directional Ion Shields. God I want a random line about our boys being protected behind their ion shields.) unless it gets mentioned in the story, makes a number go up or unlocks another option. And making sure everything is mentioned is hard for the QM to track and write.

Yeah the Names are cool and helpful but it still leaves the matter of effect size or if it ever gets mentioned in the story again. Like the Dirge Song.

I do think Songs will be strong though, I'm not a Psykana doomer, I just think most of them will be quite limited, until we invest into Holy Sigils and Psytech or other support so their effect is boosted or incorporated into our other stuff, and has a narrative impact or at least mentioned. Which is hard to do until Voxx is over.
