Semper Ad Meliora (Code Geass/Britannian Royalty Quest)

The time has come,' the Walrus said,

It's a famous poem by Lewis Carroll, with a Disney adaption in Alice in Wonderland.

I'm curious as to it's inclusion, which I would guess is a reference to the princes' tendencies for scheming.

you know that's pretty interesting... I'd actually read that to the beat of Rains of Castamere and it made a decent amount of and apparently fits the also theme of the poem rather well

"I'll advise you to exercise as much caution as possible around New Caledonia, or expanding your claim if you feel the need." Schneizel replies, his eyes locked on the board still. "I've heard that a number of the pirate groups, specifically the Children of Ching Shih, possess a number of startlingly advanced pieces of technology. ."

I-I was joking about the Ancient Super Battle--

I've even heard tell of them possessing a knightmare frame or two."

ship. Oh that's what you meant.

Well almost certainly want to take the advisor option I think. Well, that or Knight of Honor, but that seems like something that we should do ourselves, and we have options. Gyn would be fun one (yes I know that people will assume things, I don't care)

So! Which one?

Martial: Taken.
Diplomacy: Euphie is an option, so this can wait.
Stewardship: One of our best stats. Could be, but can wait.
Intrigue: Possible but really unnecessary.
Learning: One of our best stats. Considering how much Code Geass, in canon at least, depended on super prototypes to decide battles... Not sure though. We are currently Martial/Intrigue build, not sure how well Science combos with that. Also, supertech costs tons of money.
Piety: Unnecessary.

Overall, what we need the most is a Diplomacy advisor. Would combo well with our Martial/Intrigue build and we are not good at it. However, Euphemia. We could get an advisor here without spending the favor. Stewardship would combo well with our Martial/Intrigue and we do not have an advisor lined up there.

Yeah, I am decided.

Leaving the vote aside for a second...

Provided that the Learning advisor options wins, we could then justify the possibility of taking Thesis and still being able to take any important action that might pop out in the Learning section (the question is if we consider Thesis to be an useful\important enough action for us to take).

A second learning action would be useful for the thesis. I would personally put it into the domain mapping. I want to know what we have in our domain...unless the remember option did something interesting there.

The what's "in" the domain is more survey under stewardship rather than mapping the extend of the domain. Though both are important for making money. Wonder if Rus Republic is going to start a "light" naval war before they intensify the land war, our island can serve as ancillary route for pacific shipping if former happened. $_$

I hope this quest doesn't ends up like canon, super "prototype" piloted by super ace wrecks every other mechs like papers in grinder. Prototype doesn't works that way.
It does in mecha anime. As far back as the original Gundam at least, prototypes are always these super mechs that apparently were designed by people with no concept of budget or actually making it so that the average pilot can use it.
Actually I remember reading about something that explains why the 'super prototype' thing is an actual thing and why. Basically certain prototypes are created using the best tech and resources available with personal attention from the head researchers leading to a product that is superior to the mass produced version. This is because while the super prototype is good that's due to it receiving a ton of investment in time and resources which usually makes it highly impractical to mass produce other models the same way with the mass produced models while being less effective is much more affordable on a grander scale. The main reason to create such a prototype is to see how far the creators could push the tech.

It also gives a good reason to why only ace pilots could be seen piloting them. It's a ridiculously expensive tech and usually one of a kind. Of course you are only going to let the people that are the best at using them use them since they have the best odds of keeping it intact the longest with their skills.

This is a Trope, you can find this kind of explanation in TV Tropes

A Super Prototype is a testbed version of some piece of technology — like a Humongous Mecha, Space Fighter, or Killer Robot — that is, for some reason, superior to the mass-produced version. A super prototype will have better weapons, stronger armor, and higher-quality speakers than the units rolling off the assembly line. Even when there aren't very many of whatever device was designed in the first place, the prototype model is almost always the most powerful or has at least some advantage over the other models.

A question that often comes up is why the super prototype is so, well, super compared to the production model. The typical reason given is that the production model is far cheaper or easier to make in large numbers. Except that this defeats the whole purpose of a prototype - something built to test the capabilities of the final product and correct any flaws before mass production begins, meaning you want your test unit to be as similar to your production unit as possible. As such, real-life prototypes are frequently indistinguishable from standard models.

Mostly, this is just a case of letting The Hero be that much more awesome than everyone else.

Yes, not only Aces were chosen to preserve the prototype but also because the Aces are there to help the reseachers find flaws on the new models.

In real life prototypes tend to fail, blow up, or just didn't pan out (too expansive, heavy, or excellent on paper and defeated by physics). Which is very much not exciting. :V

Looks like learning advisor will win, we can now bet on their background. :p
Maybe they will be someone who's an expert organizer that decided cataloging failed material science experiments are a complete waste of their life. I doubt we will get anyone outside of pan-Britannia, Schneizel cares enough about Lulu to filter out the politically difficult candidates.

Also has anyone seen Schizel's stats...we need to get good and fast because holy shit his stats. Like he is in the 20s for everything. Except piety.

And keep in mind that his piety is extremely low only becuase of his "Heart of Ice" trait, which gives -20 to Piety. The title that was put on the spoiler of his image, "The Role Model", is well-earned.

Also, we really need to get something akin to his "Eye of the Snake" trait, as it would boost our Martial and Diplomacy significantly. (Not saying that "Steward of the Empire" or "Well Read" aren't traits we should try and get, but "Eye of the Snake" would be a massive boon to have).

Are we sure~~ Schneizel isn't someone's PC or an isekai PC? :p His stat line are very much result of an optimized built for full power emperor, the piety dump is even covered with royalty/head of faith background. :V

Im at work, probably call the vote in four/five hours. Consider this your courtesy warning, as I think we'll be pretty close to the 24 hour mark by that time and Learning a has kept up a pretty steady lead.

Okay, we've only had one vote in the last six hours and Learning has maintained a decent lead throughout the voting period, so I don't have a problem with calling things here...

VOTE CALLED!

Winning Vote:

[X] Help find you an advisor for...
-[X] Learning

What we're going to do is have a special vote for your learning advisor after I make rolls and check my charts. I'll have to do a write up of the characters you qualify for and let you guys have a bit of discussion.

After that, I'll be putting up the Turn 3 Rumor Mill and then... likely take a break for a few days to work on something else and piece together the rest of the Piety Tree. It was a low-priority thing since Lelouch was Low-Piety, but it looks like I'll be needing to stat the special piety units sooner rather than later.

To the Dice!

Roll: 90+25=115 // Crit: 83+15=98

...oh thank god, you're two short of getting Lloyd, but still high enough for some really interesting characters. Some really interesting characters.
