Hmm, since it appears we found the NGO's main base, if we can avoid combat, I have a proposal for taking it.

Partially repair the Captured Light Cruiser, put all the commandos on it as well as a Zaku or two and pretend to be the battered survivors of the task force to gain entry.

also heres my take on two separate options:
1) we get the mine which is VERY tempting...
2) we save for the zaku factory...which is even more so
-2a) also would our current upgrades that we have be automatically added to the new Zaku's as they are produced?

edited: what's the head sphere do for our Mobile suits? can you add what they can do for us next time? (like put in a small brief mention of what bonus they give us or malleus they give the enemy, or what cancels what out)

"Orders sir?" a command staffer says, hand raised above their screen.

"Send Zaku (0092) and an accompany Dopp fighter for recon," You say, watching the long range scanners from your chair. "Make sure they stay hidden, they are only to gather information,"

The staffer relays the information, and two Zeon pilots rush to the hangers. They both slide down poles, then rush over their respective vehicles while zipping up their suits.

"Let's go let's go!" The hanger sergeant says, motioning them onward. Lights blink in the hanger as they two pilots get inside their craft. The Dopp is brought down by two large mechanical arms and placed on the sling. The fighter is launched, albeit at a slow speed, and takes off out of the cruiser.

The Zaku follows, launched at an equally slow speed and jetting slowly through the asteroid field.

The two recon units draw closer and cut their engines, relying on interia.

"This is Zaku recon unit 1," The pilot says, directing his mobile suit behind an asteroid. "I have visual on the base,"

"What do you see Recon 1,"

The pilot moves a targeting computer down out of its berth and across his eyes. Her zeroes in on the installation.

"Definitely Halan Heavy Industries," He says. "Several familiar Mobile suits, lots of activity,"

"Can you confirm whether it's the Halan main base?"

You listen to the command aid talking into the comm systems. You intertwine your fingers, watching the Zaku's feed piped to your command computer.

"I think that's a negative," The pilot's voice says, crackling over the comms. "I'm moving closer, I can give you a better view,"

"Be careful Recon 1,"

The Zaku and Dopp move slightly closer, jetting behind another asteroid. The Zaku peers out from behind the rock, zooming in on the installation with its targeting computer.

"Sending you my feed now," The pilot says, tapping away on his controls.

The command deck of the Wrath of the Awakened watch the feed as the picture grows clear.

"I see five mobile ships and a cruiser," Captain Lennstett says, crossing his arms as he stands beside your chair. His attention in on the screen.

"Perhaps the base has more defenses," Vice Admiral Kurbric says.

"Perhaps," You says, rubbing your chin. "But I also see what appear to be plenty of shipping freighters. Which means what we've really found is a Halan Heavy Industries mine,"

[] Send Recon 1 and 2 in closer, gather more intel
[] Pull them back, return to Europa
[] Have them stay put, attack the installation

we will have to have a way to insure we can pass this off, have the communication equipment damage severely to the point where the scars on the outer hull are visible?

also its possible they have detected us at this range, also have it packed with some explosives so we can have it detonate within the facility itself to damage it once the commandos are clear from the area? it would be a way to cause more chaos and confusion as they seize the command center and the engineering decks. Lock down almost everything to the point where only Zeon codes can get through and send the rest of our squadrons to pull it back to Europa? it would allow us a better station to defend with as well as a main base we wouldn't have to build, of course we should take care to examine every damn inch of it so no secrets would go unnoticed.

oh boy...hmmmm there could be reinforcements...

BUT THEY DONT KNOW WHERE WE ARE MUAHAHAHA!

can we do this?

Plan: ZAKU SUPRISE FOOLS!
[X] Have them stay put while we attack
-[x] have the Zaku and the fighter make ready to disable the enemy ship by attacking from the rear once the engagement starts

Here's the game plan:
Our Special MS will be the ace killer and Ace in the hole, the New-type pilot is to engage any Special MS forces and keep them off our forces backs while the remaining fighters and Zakus get into position, they are to assume recon stance for ambush...though be careful. once they are in position and HAVE NOT BEEN SPOTTED they are to engage the mobile suits while the escorts and the light cruiser engages the enemy cruiser. use the asteroids to make shots while using them as shields.

once reinforcements start coming in from the station itself or it engages its defense's the artillery MS and two Zaku's with Big Gun weaponry are to suppress them and the station, keep them from advancing or engaging our forces.

they are to also attack anything that looks like a communications array if they can find it.
commandos are to prepare into four teams, if the enemy cruiser is disabled during the fighting team 1 and 2 are to board and take control of the ship. (engineering and Command deck)
Teams 3 and 4 are to prepare for hard insertion into the enemy fortress, mostly to disable it and get out as quickly as possible but also prepare for heavy resistance. we cannot foresee if they have military assets INSIDE the damn thing after all. they have full permission to use both their gut and their instincts in the mission regarding the station itself. But try to not cause civilian casualties,we may need them in the future.

Construction has begun on a new mine on Europa. Zeon and local geologists are hard at work seeking out a new ore vein, and predict they will discover one between 1 and 3 turns.
Roll 1d100 for a chance to strike it next turn.

The Halan Heavy Industries station rears up before you on your monitor. You and the command staff study it, gauging the numbers visible on the screen.

"Orders sir?" A command staffer says.

"Tell the recon team to stay put," You say, toying with a button on your armrest. "Bring the fleet around, attack from behind,"

The thrusters on the fleet spark up, and the ships begin to turn. Silent lights flash as pilots rush to their mobile suits.

"Recon 1," A comms operator says, pressing against their headset. "Stay put and observe, we're coming around the back,"

"Roger that command, we'll be waiting,"

The 7th fleet slips around the asteroids, the dark shadows of the massive rocks shielding the fleet from both long range scanners and optrics. The going is slow, but finally the fleet enters open space, and the back-end of the asteroid.

"No mercy," You say.

"Attack!" Captain Lennstett yells.

Okay mandatory training excercises in asteroid belts are a must in the future guys and gals.

As such I suggest we get a training camp and send our forces for a mandatory retraining for a few turns, our skills must be rusty.

Also goes our ships doing?

I am hoping they also take part as well as the commando teams...were hoping to take this shit home to Europa while we get situated again. Not enough numbers to hold two locations effectively especially once retalliation strikes start comming into play.

Edited: holy shit the enemy sure we're surprised!

Next time we should work on stealth tactics a bit more. Being sneaky shits seems to work out surprisingly...

I'll pick a Zaku II as well...

<No pictures for a few updates as my internet's crapped out on me>

You watch as the Wrath of the Awakened rises up over the brim of the Halan asteroid base. The Zaku's and Dopp's flank you vessel, blasting ahead once you crest the rim.

The Halan security forces are completely caught off gaurd. Thier massive ship turns to face you, but your crew has already unleashed multiple volleys on their rear thrusters.

The Zakus swarm the enemy mobile suits, and Ingris takes the special MS and tears into the Geoframe. It is a massacre.

Numbers and suprise are on your side, and when you observe that no reinforcements have emerged from the hangar bays, you give the command for the commandos and infantry to take the base.

Their drop pods slam into the hangers, unleashing the soldiers who swarm through tunnels, small population centers and the mines.

There is little resistance. You soon stand with the command staff in the main hanger as soldiers raise the Zeon colors over the Halan corporate crest. The miners and their families are gathered in the hanger as well, watching in clustered groups as the flag spreads out along the wall. Soldiers move through the groups, processing them and checking for weapons.

"Beautiful," Vice Admiral Kubric says, surveying the scene.

A commotion breaks out near the miners. You turn away from the flag, searching out the source of the noise.

Several soldiers struggle to restrain a boy, who fights against them. He's shouting, his face nearly red.

"Go to hell!" He shouts. "Got to hell all of you!"

The soldiers continue to hold his arms, avoiding his lashing kicks as best they can.

"Hmph," Kubric says, sniffing. "Asteroid trash,"

You ignore the comment, drawing your cape to you as you cross over to where the boy and soldiers are. One of the soldiers raised up his rifle butt to hit the boy, but you raise up a hand. The soldiers freeze, as does the boy.

"What's your name," you say, peering down at the boy through your silver helmet.

"Go to hell!" The boy shouts, struggling against the soldiers.

"Are you really so opposed to our occupation of your home?" You say, gazing around the hanger. "Our colors look good on your wall,"

"My brother piloted one of the mobile suits you destroyed! He was going to teach me one day! You killed him! You killed HIM! MURDERERS!"

You kneel down so your eye level with the boy. You take of your helmet, staring him in the eyes.

"I'm sorry you lost your brother. There is nothing more I can say,"

The boy breaks free of the soldiers and lunges at you. You catch him, gently pushing him back into the soldiers, who restrain the boy again. You stand.

[] Take the boy with you to become a Zeon pilot
[] keep the boy here, offer him some manner of compensation for his brother
[] Leave, there are more important matters to deal with

And

[] Stay on Asteroid
[] Move on further from the asteroid <indicate if leaving garrison>

I'll go ahead and drop the Quest trailer while we wait on some more rolls. Again, appreciate the involvement, this one goes out to the readers and the players

No problem, I hope we get another new type pilot in the future and the kid changes his mind. We do not have enough ships or soildiers to hold the station unfortunately, which is why I keep saying we can tow it back to Jupiter.

We are in space and shit happens. If we can get it into stable orbit and make convoy runs to the asteroid belt escorted by Zeon forces then things will be looking up.

Also can our engineers back at Europa look into the captured ship we have there and try to see if there are any ways to upgrade them as well as our own ships based on the configurations and possible blue prints and scavenged parts from previous battles?

Where can I find the trailer?
Also the reason why I didn't take him into Zeon immediately was to not be a asshole...but if he has no other family and his situation is bleak...we can offer to take him in. We take no pleasure of taking his older brother from him, as we are trying to insure our own survival which is why we fought...

Let us give the boy a chance to grieve for his family as we give our own reason on why we fight. And possibly give him some small comfort that he can be a pilot one day. Whether it's on our side so he can one day limit the casualties of war or on the other side to expand even more upon it by the greed and selfishness of bureaucrats Anschluss politicians who will keep the fighting constantly because of their pride and fool hardy nature.

We only truly wish to end the fighting for Zeons dream to come true...to allow humanity to truly leave its cradle and allow it to heal as we find new worlds and wonders.

To truly be a space borne race. To be newtypes!!!

Edited: whoops never mind, I'm more tired then I thought on the trailer!!! Sorry!

Construction has begun on Training Camp.

Zeon and local geologists have struck an ore vein. Resources have increased to 15IR a cycle.

You stare down at the boy.

"You will have a few days to grieve," You say, affixing your silver helmet to your head. "Then you will learn what is it to be a true soldier,"

The boy can only stare at you, aware that you have just uttered his fate but not understanding.

"Sir," Captain Lennstett says, coming up to you. "Are we headed back to Europa?"

"Call the command staff back to the Wrath of the Awakened," You say, walking purposefully across the hanger. Soldiers and command staff part for you to pass, your cape billowing behind you.

Once on the Musai light cruiser, the command staff gathers around you at their stations. You stand by your chair, directing a technician to bring up the holographic display of the known system.

"Loyal men and women of the principality," You say, bringing their attention to the map.

"The 7th fleet of Zeon now controls an asteroid base and a small moon. And we have roughly seven hundred soldiers, and less than twenty mobile suits to hold it with,"

The room is silent, listening to you as the map rotates behind you.

"Beyond this asteroid we know nothing. We can begin to learn, using intelligence operations, but it will be slow,"

You turn to everyone, drawing their gaze to you.

"So the question my comrades in arms is this. How do we hold this territory, and expand?"

"We cannot possibly expand," Vice Admiral Kubric says. "There will surely be a counter-attack from the Halan fiends soon,"

"We need not worry about territory," Captain Lennstett says. "Let us simply take the fleet and smash our way into the Earth sphere. These new mobile suits are nothing,"

The command staff talks and discusses tactics, and you take a seat in your chair. Finally it is decided that Europa will hold with ground forces, but the majority of the 7th fleet should stay in the asteroids and hold Zeon's new foothold. Europa will soon be able to re-enforce your position.

Plan time!!

[X] Send some forces back to Europa
-[x] Send one escort ship back with 3 Zaku II's and 4 Fighters

[X] Orbital Station Upgrade

Next turn we should save for Asteroid Defense System and then move onto both Zeon culture and security center.

after that it will be Zeon fight and tank factory
(my goal is to get both Europa and the asteroid colony defended by 20 fighters, and 10 Zaku II's while we flush out the entire fleet, along with ground elements matching what we have on Europa with more on the training schedule.)

edited part: HOLY HEAVEN ABOVE!!! Good sir you are far to kind with that intro! you should put that on the first thread page! if anything advertise this on the site!!! jeez, sure theres some stuff in there but its all well done, even if you took multiple elements to do this.
