Wolf Spider (Worm) (Complete)

This was incredible, and high effort, and awesome, and I hope other writers discover this tool you've used.

Isn't it just HTML? Or have I missed something?

I didn't use javascript, but there is bootstrap in there because I found a twitter template because I'm not a good enough web dev to do that one from scratch.

Theoretically, I could have done it all in BBCode but that seems way harder, and I don't know how people have done things like make mock SV threads for omakes here. It seems like wizardry.

Maybe they're dating, or maybe… it's just having fun. I mean, remember that story? One of the members of that OTHER SITE apparently had sex with her?

...is the other site PHO? Also, Amanda, you seem weirdly interested in this. -_-

EDIT:

More new subforums and the like. First off, in the Tokyo Subforum, the corporate hero group Wow!Tokyo now his its own sub-forum Find it by going to Tokyo ► Heroes ► Wow!Tokyo.
Boston's Teeth now have their own sub-forum by popular demand, at Boston ► Villains ► Teeth
Finally, Arachne now has her own sub-sub-forum. You can find it by going to Brockton Bay ► Heroes ► Independent/Other ► Arachne.
Okay, I have to ask, with Arachne and everyone else getting subforums, how much of a nighmare is PHO to navigate? Arachne seems like... one thread worthy for personal focus at that point? I dunno.

BitchZone has gross people, but Collar Central is basically, like, a cess-pit.

PHO honestly functions like a bunch of different forums glued together.

And she specifically got a subforum on the... *looks up*.

...I'm just trying to figure out how large the regular population is on each of these forums to keep them all going without collapsing on these niche of topics. Man, Bet.

Canon doesn't explain like, anything about PHO, but I believe the Undersiders had their own forum there. So it must be a thing?

I kind of imagine it's halfway between a BBS or Usenet, and a modern forum. So they still do the thing where lots of niche discussions get split off really hard.

And it also must have a pretty huge audience from how it's treated.

But the whole "Boards > Places > America > Brockton Bay" structure is already over the top granular. Like, I don't think Usenet even went that hard about it's system, so PHO has some weird roots.

Okay, to clarify: Arachne got her own sub-forum in the farthest down-stream after she fought the E88 multiple times, and took down Lung and Oni Lee (the 21st). She's pretty much in possession of the only sub-forum under that category, and even that was as much better safe than sorry.

May 23rd:

Brockton Bay
> General
► Heroes
-> Protectorate/Wards
-> New Wave
-> Independent/Other
-->Arachne.
>Villains
-> E88
-> ABB
-> Merchants
-> Other.
--> Uber and Leet (thanks to the memes).
--> (Maybe also the Undersiders, I'm not sure???)

June 4th:

Brockton Bay
> General
► Heroes
-> Protectorate/Wards
-> New Wave
-> Team Arachne
-> Independent/Other
>Villains
-> E88
-> Merchants
-> Other.
--> (Maybe also the Undersiders, I'm not sure???)

Edit: But probably, like SV, you could set it so that you could go to the general page and see the results of whichever forums/sub-forums you had enabled.

So a guy who wanted to know everything just checks, 'enable all' and then looks at the giant frontpage of mashed together threads, and weeps a single, silent tear...

Agh, this is fantastic!!
Beetz: You okay? I heard about the ban. It wasn't really deserved. I read your latest story, and it's really good.
DarkValley: Oh! Hey! You've liked some of my stuff? I just thought it was an amazing idea: Brockton Bay as Lovecraft-Ville, and Leviathan as a sea-monster that people are sacrificed to. And then some of the capes were fish people, and… well, you read it.
Beetz: The cannibalism bit was sorta weird, but you do you, you know?
DarkValley: It's a product of modern society: we eat each other in all sorts of other ways, so why not literally? God, I sound like an English Major.
Beetz: Just, keep it up. That's fine, you know?
DarkValley: You know, I always wondered, do you like beets? Or is it something else.
Beetz: Beats was taken.
Is this a reference to BeaconHill's The Brockton Look? If so... hahahaha.
Oh, Beetz was Amanda Wallis. Huh, that's interesting.

But this was so great. A lot PHO interludes don't add anything to the story, but what this does is so ingenious and enjoyable! It doesn't advance the plot necessarily, but you really fleshed out the world and the characters, which is just as good. I loved all the little tidbits and flavor, from the names of the forums to the way you depicted fans, etc. I'm kind of hoping we see a 'Cassie' cameo at some point in the story. I loved this! Best online interlude I have ever read.

Beets is the PRT person, nice one, so glad she's managed to work around that arsehole Jeff!

Question though, she's called Amanda Wallen in 1-A but in 4-A her email suggests her name's Amanda Wallis, is that just a mix up with Collin Wallis?

I do hope she appeals though, who knows what sort of trouble Jeff could get upto when left to his own devices.

I literally cannot fix things in that doc. I've poked Nemo, she'll fix them asap.

Oh ok, so it was a mistake. You mention him having a sister in the obituary so I wasn't sure if that was them.

Should be fixed now.

For typos or other stuff, it'll help slightly to tag me in it in case I haven't seen all of the thread yet? Just for future reference and only for this one interlude obviously.

E: that includes aesthetics, if anyone wants to! Colors or the general layout or whatever. I'm not good at graphic design so I'll probably take any suggestions there.

Except for the BitchZone which is supposed to look like something I'd make.

This is great! Really a gold standard for these kinds of interludes. The formatting adds a fantastic touch, and the content is far more inventive than usual. :)

I feel like Piggot let Amanda off surprisingly light, considering. Amanda is not a PR person, and I'd bet the PRT is a very "do not talk to the media without going through PR" type organization.

I wonder, can her bugs… actually, nevermind. Don't want to skirt too close to that limit, but it gives me ideas.
This is my favorite quote from my namesake. Thank you – that was pretty darn fun. :D :rofl:

I don't think I'd do Uber/Leet. Of course, this is spring 2011, and 17/18-year-old me, maybe... :oops: I do think Armsmaster/Lung is a pairing I'd agree with my 18-year-old self on, though. :3 :lol

I've been told the whole character is! :D :rofl:

What thing? If you don't mind me asking?
Something I was wrong about, was apparently thinking of another fic.

I do feel for Yingling for missing out on grabbing his username though. I'm Czarcasm on FF/SB/SV/QQ, but because I was a few months lazy in using my invite, I'm Tzarcasm on AO3 when I signed up today. Probably irrelevant until I get the courage to start posting my fics, but annoying all the same.

And it's easily relatable bits like Yingling2 that help ground the story and keep it feeling real.

...they need to pick up a new cape who is a girl and whose cape name starts with a C.

Then they can call themselves the Friends of the ABC! Annette would totally approve.

EDIT REACTION TIME:
1. Greg's mom is dead? I'm glad this time he wasn't out there seeking attention for being in a worse situation than he actually was.
2. I wish Flechette's Twitter had the little blue VERIFIED tick.
3. Awwww Flechette wants twu wuv too HEY WHERE'S PARIAN
4. "You're in a merry mood tonight, Mr. Omen." "'Tis your delight, sir, catching fire from one man to the next!" "'Tis true, sir, love can still inspire the blood to pound, the heart beat higher..."
5. Jeff needs a spanking.
