Why Did I Have To Be Isekai'd By A Novice Goddess?

[X] A gray egg

If this doesn't get picked I guess I'll have to run an egg hatching roleplay inspired quest or something, at some point lol

EDIT: can you imagine if we just took two, or all of them. if she doesn't know what she's doing, and didn't say we could only take one, clearly, can you blame us?

[X] A vision of a cave through what looks like a broken mirror, or maybe a kaleidoscope

Only one is going to win, so I will treat that second check mark as your runoff vote if gray egg is in last

Ultimately figured that'd be the case, really more shitposting than actually wanting to make the quest harder for you.
And yeah that'd be my runoff, though I may shift my runoff to just weight it to whatever I want to win the tiebreaker

Voting for the most mysterious option here. Plus, mirror stuff is just cool.

The Reincarnation
And, with the results at 7 votes for floating light, 5 votes chest, 5 votes egg, and 4 votes mirror, it seems the floating light has won!

[X] A floating ball of yellow light

Noticing the goddess' panic as you nearly fall to indecision and her rapid head shaking as you try and fail to stretch between multiple, you ultimately gravitate towards the light right before you sink into the platform, its yellow radiance oddly comforting and alluring in its own right, and you've read too much fiction to trust mysterious caves or suspiciously attractive treasure chests... as for the egg, maybe too much responsibility, especially if you get thrown into the thick of it like people always do in these, right?

As you make your decision, the goddess seems to relax a bit, giving you a smile and a wave as you sink into it, and the platform beneath it finally, your vision fading into that hazy yellow glow as you drift off. When you come back to awareness, you see something shimmering above you, everything in sight a wavering blue, as you realize you can't breathe-!

Quickly surfacing, you find yourself in a dimly lit pool in the middle of a forest glade with long shadows stretching around it, but not seeming to touch the faintly glowing water themselves, lit by the amber dawn sun, which seems to match the hue of the light you just sank into. The slightest ripple radiates across the pond from where you are, which is a bit odd, considering how fast you rose to the surface, and

Why are there two suns in the water and not the sky?

You hastily move away from the water, having played far too much Outer Wilds to trust that, only to find the second sun vanishes as you do so, as things finally start to register. You hesitantly move back over to the pool, looking down, and see that second sun directly beneath you, suddenly flaring red as alarm strikes you, and you try to look down at yourself, but fail to do so beyond seeing that glow at the edge of your vision. Where's your body?!

It takes you a few minutes to finally calm down, and take stock of what just happened to you. So she wasn't asking you to choose a gift, she made you into the floating light...? But what would that mean for the chest, or the mirror? You suppose the egg at least makes sense, but... well, now what? You seem to at least recall something at least kind of intelligible she said at the end before you were swept away. "Check menu when you get there."

*Menu?*

As soon as you think it, you're startled as a deep blue screen with white text fills your vision, hovering a few feet in front of you, filled with information, and mercifully, you can actually read it. Well, most of it. And better news, you don't need hands to navigate it, otherwise you'd be screwed!

Looking over the screen, you figure most of it is pretty self explanatory unlike anything else that has happened so far... okay, so you're a Fae now... so your old name is masked on your menu, maybe for your own safety? If the menu is any hint and this is a trashy isekai, people might be able to see others screens, or use skills to do it. You guess you'll need to figure out something else to go by, now... your strength seems to be abysmal, which isn't a huge surprise, as you float over to a leaf, you can't even figure out how to pick it up with no apparent arms, and given you don't feel wet from being submerged, and that Intangibility skill, you may not be fully physical anyway. You initially feel a pang of panic at seeing your Luck score being apparently negative, before noticing that you seem to have a skill that makes it function in reverse... so a low score in Luck is good for you? Seems a bit pointless to have both and not just positive Luck, but okay, at least you're not going to be stumbling into trouble everywhere.

The currencies are kind of weird. Obviously you don't have any money on you, you don't even have the clothes on your ba- nope, don't need to go down that train of thought now. But you do wonder what it means by Fae Currency, or why you somehow have so much, and well, yeah, you guess you have your own soul and not much else as far as Devil's, though like hell you're going to be stupid enough to use that as a bargaining chip.

More than anything you suppose, you need to figure out your first course of action.

You suppose the first choice is probably a name to go by, since something tells you that using your original name would get you killed, here.

[] Name Write-In

Much like the first time, vote will end at noon EST, this time on the 3rd.

[X]Ainsel. From an old fairy tale, it literally means 'My Own Self'. Good for those that want to use name magic to screw with me. Which would be... all of the Fae.

Better than anything I could come up with

And for the record, for the other votes...

Chest was reincarnated as a Mimic.

Egg was reincarnated as a Sacred Bird.

Fractured Mirror was reincarnated as a nascent Hydra spawn.

[x] Nimüe. The name of the Lady of the Lake. Not only is there heavy association with the concept of being a patron of heroes, but it also lends itself well to numerous pseudonyms for the purpose of concealing our true name, such as Vivian.

Heh, fey currency being 'immeasurable'. Fitting, since you can't measure nothing, or arbitrarily determine the value of anything for every fey, in folklore. You can sell a firstborn for skill, buy one with servitude, and barter away your sense of self for wealth and power. It all depends on the fey in question, and how carefully they crafted their agreement against how foolish the bargainer is.

eeee I do adore the fey

wondrous, I do think we should opt for an alias instead of a new true name by proxy

Devil Currency: 0 Blood, 0 Bones, 0 Organs, 1 Soul

Adore this.

Danger Sense: Rank 2
Avoidance: Rank 2

I do like what skills we have at rank 2

oooh, this is lovely. This means we should be able to fuck with others via Stat Bestowal >83c

Egg was reincarnated as a Sacred Bird.

Fractured Mirror was reincarnated as a nascent Hydra spawn.

ach, they were fun options, alas.

I like how the POV was set up for this update, it's a good way to introduce our new body!

Fae Currency: Immeasurable

love this take.
I'd like to think we have something to offer from extradimensional knowledge, buuut lets play our cards close to our chest for now.
Info is power, and power is... well it's own currency.

Really think we should use Ainsel amongst our aliases, but I dont know if as fae we'll be able to disguise our form now and again or not anyway. Sapient will o wisps may be uncommon.

You guys are bold in assuming a name with I believe germanic roots will redirect name magic in a world without german as a language. :p

But it's a fine name anyway.

if it would work in a world with German it should work in a world without German. In fact it should be even harder to find out as a result. This is the fae we're talking about that fits right up there alley

However, I do not expect it to work at all, I just like the name.

I don't think anyone genuinely expects it to work, but it is funny, and even without that it's a good name.
