It's approaching midday when the first Kumo nin make their appearance in the village. A messenger must have been sent out about the attack presumably. In any case their arrival means your imminent departure. Best say something to Kagome, wouldn't want him assuming you'd gone missing and worrying.
He's in the central plaza when you find him, waiting to speak to some of the villagers about the orphanage, if you had to guess. "Ah, Feruza-chan, did you need something?" Gods but he's a well-meaning person, you hope this doesn't hurt him too terribly. "I'm sorry Kagome, but I'm going to be leaving the village. There are some things I have to do."
Confusion crosses his face. "What do you mean, Feruza-chan, is this a part of a game?" He really doesn't deserve this, but you can't stay here. "I'm going to leave with the ninja, Kagome. To their village to learn." Kagome is normally one of the calmest people you've known, not reserved exactly, he just doesn't run to extremes. He looks panicked and stricken now though. "You can't Feruza-chan! Ninja aren't like the stories, they aren't heroes, they're killers! They'll make you" You cut him off. "I know very well what ninja are Kagome. I understand what they do. I'm going all the same, it's a choice I made." Turning to go and find one of the Kumo nin you stop for a moment. "Thank you, Kagome-san. You were a good caretaker. We were lucky to have you."
You find one of them looking at the remains of the orphanage, chuunin, assuming the jacket means that at least. "Ah, kid, you shouldn't be here you know? Why not play in the village, yeah?" He's in his mid twenties maybe, not all that much younger than you suppose you really are. "I'm coming with you when you leave, to become a ninja." He runs a hand through his hair, he's probably heard a lot of kids say similar things. "What would your parents think of that, hey, just leaving like that?" Reasonable deflection on his part. " I don't have any parents." His eyes flick to the still smouldering wood. "Ah, well. I might understand why you want to, kid, but not everyone can you know?"
"It isn't a matter of 'can' shinobi-san. I will. That's all."
It's a week later when the caravan you hitched a ride on pulls into the last village before the steep climb to Kumogakure. You could wait for a caravan or small group to be headed up that way, but it'd delay you for a few days. That and walking up the way on your own feet feels appropriate somehow. You have water, you have a small packet of dried food and you have chakra, and you've always had some ascetic tendencies anyway. It's a calming walk, and the view truly is stupendous. A few days sees you at the gates of Kumo where you hand over the paper you were given by the ninja you pestered in your village. They're somewhat surprised to see a lone five year old at the gates, but they let you in all the same and tell you where the academy is. It really is an amazing looking place, platforms built into and on top of a dozen peaks, huge bridges connecting them together.
Now. How do you want to play this?
Turn 6 13-12 BN Will consist of multiple smaller turns.
The Academy (Note, The Second Shinobi World War, Academy operates faster than peacetime operation. Academy starts at age five so serves as an ordinary school in addition)
