What Fresh Hell (Naruto SI)

This is quite convincing to me. More freedom is good.

[X] No
[X] Become a monk

Besides, there's tons of Naruto-based ninja quests and fanfics. I've yet to see one were the main character does not answer to some ninja village. Should be interesting.

I figured we'd have no trouble obtaining ninja instruction with the war going on. Heck there's bound to be a bunch of injured ninja that should want respite or healing from monks. I'm sure trades will occur because of that and have probably happened in the past as well.

No? They stay at the position they've been assigned or return to base for good quality healing ninja chakra users can offer. You forgot to sensors we will look like a spy with our obvious high levels of chakra we possess and how weird it is.
We're also trying to learn there ninja techniques in other words your trying to steal them and offer them to someone else.

If you want to be a monk just be a mink and stop trying to be a ninja monk.

Update 7: Kumo at last
It's approaching midday when the first Kumo nin make their appearance in the village. A messenger must have been sent out about the attack presumably. In any case their arrival means your imminent departure. Best say something to Kagome, wouldn't want him assuming you'd gone missing and worrying.

He's in the central plaza when you find him, waiting to speak to some of the villagers about the orphanage, if you had to guess. "Ah, Feruza-chan, did you need something?"

Gods but he's a well-meaning person, you hope this doesn't hurt him too terribly. "I'm sorry Kagome, but I'm going to be leaving the village. There are some things I have to do."

Confusion crosses his face. "What do you mean, Feruza-chan, is this a part of a game?"

He really doesn't deserve this, but you can't stay here. "I'm going to leave with the ninja, Kagome. To their village to learn."

Kagome is normally one of the calmest people you've known, not reserved exactly, he just doesn't run to extremes. He looks panicked and stricken now though. "You can't Feruza-chan! Ninja aren't like the stories, they aren't heroes, they're killers! They'll make you"

You cut him off. "I know very well what ninja are Kagome. I understand what they do. I'm going all the same, it's a choice I made." Turning to go and find one of the Kumo nin you stop for a moment. "Thank you, Kagome-san. You were a good caretaker. We were lucky to have you."

You find one of them looking at the remains of the orphanage, chuunin, assuming the jacket means that at least. "Ah, kid, you shouldn't be here you know? Why not play in the village, yeah?" He's in his mid twenties maybe, not all that much younger than you suppose you really are.

"I'm coming with you when you leave, to become a ninja."

He runs a hand through his hair, he's probably heard a lot of kids say similar things.

"What would your parents think of that, hey, just leaving like that?" Reasonable deflection on his part.

" I don't have any parents."

His eyes flick to the still smouldering wood. "Ah, well. I might understand why you want to, kid, but not everyone can you know?"

"It isn't a matter of 'can' shinobi-san. I will. That's all."

It's a week later when the caravan you hitched a ride on pulls into the last village before the steep climb to Kumogakure. You could wait for a caravan or small group to be headed up that way, but it'd delay you for a few days. That and walking up the way on your own feet feels appropriate somehow. You have water, you have a small packet of dried food and you have chakra, and you've always had some ascetic tendencies anyway. It's a calming walk, and the view truly is stupendous. A few days sees you at the gates of Kumo where you hand over the paper you were given by the ninja you pestered in your village. They're somewhat surprised to see a lone five year old at the gates, but they let you in all the same and tell you where the academy is. It really is an amazing looking place, platforms built into and on top of a dozen peaks, huge bridges connecting them together.

Now. How do you want to play this?

Of course all ninja wouldn't do this but I can bet a lot will see monks if they can't make the trip back to base to get medic nin's professional touch, especially ones that might be wandering. They might be used by kage's too as spare healers, who knows.

Also, as far as I know, Tsunade's healing program was supposed to be special for the time. I have no idea about the other nations but I'm betting on them just getting that kind of organized healing up or just starting. I'm not confidant about them having the process streamlined like this yet if Tsunade had to put down in writing that medic-nin shouldn't engage. Furthermore, we don't even know how developed the healing tech/process is at this point, which I assume is primitive compared to canon's.

Don't know what you mean by stealing from them, but ninja broadcast their techniques all the time in canon. Nothing wrong with it but keeping ninjutsu techniques under lock and key isn't what people worry about, it's . We'd be asking for them to sharw generic tech's, and that is not out of the realm of possibility either. And further more, developing the mindfulness meditation research option on our own( a monk technique) would be out of the question if getting two skill-sets wasn't allowed.

Wasn't happy with my goal and since this turn is suppose to short, I figure learning more chakra control exercises would be good.

Plays to our strength, IMO.

Meant to get that update up yesterday, but fatigue is fatigue.

Also, is B a Jinchuriki yet? And has he become A's partner?

Yes on both counts. I'm co-ordinating events using this timeline.

Will it also be possible to learn some monk skills too? Or will they not share their knowledge with ninja?

Ninja not terribly popular with monks, not particularly surprisingly. You'd certainly face difficulties.

[x] Seek early graduation. Show off your skill.

Better apparent talent will get you more resources and trust later on. People will be more willing to give you training and secrets if they think you are capable of using them for the good of the village. Unless you are planning to go running off at some point, there is no reason to hide your skill level, and you'd probably fail at it anyway.

Why are we focusing on monks when we can focus on being a ninja?

Not in favor of speeding through the academy and rushing off into the battlefield. We should develop as many skills as we can at home within a reasonable amount of time. Not like the academy hasn't been accelerated already anyway. Why shorten that time even further, when we can abuse that time mercilessly?

I doubt that we'd be able to develop as large and as diverse of a skill set if we do, and it seems like it would undermine the potential benefits of the "Learn all the ninja skills you can" goal.

Why are we focusing on monks when we can focus on being a ninja?

Because there are literal hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of stories in Naruto starring ninjas, and perhaps a few hundred starring monks?

So far the character has no agency, no drive, she's passively accepted her lot in life and assumed that since she's in Naruto, he'll be a ninja. Going to sleep when some fucker shows up at your orphanage and puts a genjutsu on everyone - "Oh, it'll work out?" She's damaged from reincarnation, looks at everything with a distant sort of apathy.

And then that fucker tried to kill everyone she loves. This isn't a game anymore.

[x] You thought that you could have a simple life. Maybe be a monk, study chakra. Not change the plot. And then some fucker with a headband came and almost killed everyone you care about, because you didn't want to get involved. Create a world where orphanages are left in peace. Bring true civilian rule and democracy to the Elemental Nations.

[x] You need information, knowledge, and power, political or otherwise. Push yourself as far as you can in academic subjects. Focus on your chakra - meditate, work with all five elements, try for feeling your mental and physical energies. Chakra leads to the creation of all things, it is the wellspring of life itself. To demote it to a mere killing tool is the greatest insult. And if the comparative lack of focus on physical abilities means you take longer to graduate, then that's just more time to study.

Goals
[x] Survive the war.
[x] You've let your memories of your old world slip. No more. Try and remember as much sociology, politics, history, etc. from your old world as you can.

[x] You did nothing, once. It almost cost you everything. If you can act to help, do.

I don't even care if this particular goal wins, but c'mon - pick something. 'Of the River and the Sea' isn't a good fic because it's protagonist goes with the flow and goes to fight for the honor of Kiri - that would be boring as hell.

Sorry if I'm being rude, but this thread needs 30ccs of raging passion, stat, before the protagonist becomes a doormat.

This is basically impossible since to enforce this we would have to be the biggest badass possible and that means enforcing our rule constantly. You would have to do a modified version of the moon plan to have peace forever.

Also why do you want only civilians to rule when ninja can kill gods?

You need information, knowledge, and power, political or otherwise. Push yourself as far as you can in academic subjects. Focus on your chakra - meditate, work with all five elements, try for feeling your mental and physical energies.
We only have affinity for two elements.

If you want to go down this route them I'm okay with it.

I don't think you understand, democracy is not going to happen unless we become so overwhelmingly powerful and have 300 hundred years to indoctrinate an entire country into a way of thinking of civilian rule and still have Ninja armies who defer to them, not the kage referring to civilian government but all ninja having a sense of citizenship to the country and not the village.

To do that you would need to destroy the village system as none of them would allow that to happen, so yeah back to become overwhelmingly powerful and become a dictator long enough to force these changes through and a few hundred years for the cultural change of generations to come into affect.

So plan become super powerful is basically your idea yeah?

Yes, trying to instill democracy will require being a bullshit powerful ninja, and a master of chakra (and probably getting Sage mode somehow), and a skilled orator, and a masterful politician, and more than likely a criminal, and almost certainly require attaining immortality. But that's the point.

Voting for being powerful to achieve a goal and voting to be super powerful just because are not the same thing. I don't actually care what our ambition is, as long as we have one.

Reverse engineer the bullshit spiritual techniques that deal with death (Edo Tensai, Dead Demon Consuming Seal, etc.) and go back home! Become the Raikage and take over the Elemental Nations! Become a pirate and explore the world beyond the elemental nations! And if you want to go power for the sake of power, do it with style. Don't just be a genius, be the genius, feared the way the Yellow Flash will be! Invent the Railgun no Jutsu and teach ninja the meaning of sufficient velocity, then turn around, usurp Kaguyas power, and become God-King of the universe!

Don't. Be. Boring!

I can get on board if GM approves. As long as we don't limit ourselves , I'm good. Reason I brought up monks was because of them having the ability to bless things and our ability with weapons.

I wanted to see if we could create a sentient weapon like Sameheda.

Sorry for the double post but an idea just came to me.

The mindfulness meditation research can get us one of the most powerful techniques in canon.

That would be the opening and controlling the Eigth gates . We need to teach ourselves the eight gates technique and improve on it more than Rock Lee and Might Guy.

Once we train our body up with the mindfulness training, which will build a large amount of body awareness, we'll have unparalleled control (legendary?) over our tenketsu, hopefully enough that the damage of the technique can be mitigated drastically. I think that soft weights should speed things up on this end to further supplement our training.

I believe recall might be enhanced by the mindfulness meditation as well, so maybe we can train the technique to be our own special memory recall tool. If not, we have got to make that a pill or a jutsu. having access and control of our memories would be very handy.

How's that for "not boring"?

;)

I don't like the last goal man, that's just too broad and seems like 100% going to fuck us, tell me if a man is going to lose his house because the government needs to expand a waterway that will increase trade and make the entire province richer how would this factor in?

As it is now we have to help even if the greater good is not served, its not our cause to drain ourselves dry to fix every little thing in the world that is the way you get taken advantage off and become a depressed wreck. Not even saints have this ideal man seriously.
