It's only a little digging not going nuts digging down, and this also unlocks saronite ore research, which Arcman has stated is how we develop counters to Old God Influence.
Basically acting to slow on talking with others while at the same time risking waking up the old gods.
We literally won't be able to make contact before the Scourge show up with that build.

It's going to take 5 fucking years for the Idea to even work. That's way too fucking long, we needed diplomatic relationships now. Now we have even less time to actually court the other races and get things set up so that they can help us and we can help them with the Scourge.
And also, it locks away one of our diplomatic action slots for 5 years. That's a huge lost that we couldn't afford. Meaning, we'll also have less capability to do internal diplomacy.

The Scourge aren't going to immediately attack us the moment they arrive people. The Lich King needed a few years to practice his powers and get them to grow powerful and even longer before he learned of the Nerubians, learned he can't dominate their minds and that his plague couldn't infect then and decided they were a threat and attacked. We have plenty of time.

Exact-fucking-didly. That is why doing it ourselves was the superior choice in the context that we were in, because we are running on a extremely sort deadlines, and I cannot say this enough, IDEA FUCKING LOCKS AWAY OVER HALF OF OUR DIPLOMATIC ACTIONS FOR FIVE FUCKING YEARS!!
That means 5 less diplomatic actions to use to either court foreign races or to put our internal affairs in order, that's a crippling blow to us for us in the short term extreme situation that we are in right now.
And if people had thought about the consequences before voting we would not be in this mess.

This is me being calm. But like I said.
Stupidity on this scale needs to get it's fucking ears shout off, because 5 fucking less diplomatic actions limits our ability to do things by an incredibly level. We've effectively sawed one of our fucking legs off and can't regrow it for fucking years, when the other option would have simply done damage that would have been easily recoverable, you know, because in doing that other option we would have had 2 FUCKING DIPLOMATIC ACTIONS PER TURN!!!
If you are willing to shoot yourself in the foot because I'm calling people out over making stupid decisions, which makes you want to do stupid decisions just to spite me, well that's your problem not mine.
And maybe you should put that DD in a place that fucking needs it. Like the fucking 30% action that takes 5 fucking years.
