While we're at it, let's turn ourselves into bipeds too, and skin is much better than chitin, and a humanoid face, obviously, for better diplomacy. In fact, let's go full on Conversion Bureau and turn every nerubian into a human, the obviously superior race, because HANDS.

Stop strawmaning. It's against the rules and dishonest debating.

ComCom 15- Harassment of other users ain't okay. Frustration is understandable, but don't take it a step above and beyond.
I'm not debating with you, I'm mocking you with exaggerating sarcasm.

Hey...
@Arcman
Are there any underwater lakes around?
Because I'm thinking, it might be useful to catch some fish and then release them down here, so they can, you know, breed and such.

That way we have a guaranteed supply of fish no matter if the worst comes to pass and someone hostile to us takes over the coast.

Actually, clawguards would probably stay fastened better than a normal sword would in a humanoid hand.

So by your logic, we should abandon humanoid hands because wielding weapons in those is just asking to be disarmed no?
Really? A claw guard could be destroyed depending on what it is made of. And that's not even getting into the fact that limited range of motion their current limbs offer would allow a skilled enough weapon user slip past any sword you put on them that way. So by not coming up with a way to give them limbs that can actually hold a sword we are just asking for them to be not become better like the rest of the troops. Heck a simply solution to that problem would be to invent a magic spell that can turn their current limbs into something that can hold weaponry if they want. We know shape shifting is a thing.

So your being a flamingbaiting to be a troll while strawmanning. Got it.

By Clawguard I am envisioning a solid Titansteel extension of the blade moulded around the forearm of the Spider Lord in ways similar to a gauntlet.

You know the best thing about our current arms? They are harder to slice off.

Limited range of motion? doesn't matter, every single part of our body is basically tank armour, they crawl below us? we sit on them, they die.

You know what also impedes the range of motion in similar ways to our current Carapace? Armour.

We basically have Medium-Heavy armour for negligible weight. We're the ultimate expression of a bear form.

So stop moving your goalposts. Stop appealing to your personal incredulity Stop begging the question. Stop assuming that just because there are rare weapons of legendary quality that may surpass our natural abilities that our abilities are by default obsolete and stop it with the Ad hominem attacks: the only one debating dishonestly here is you.

So, to change the subject, is necromancy a good research topic now? I figure that since the Lich King is no longer on the same continent as us, he can't insta-takeover any undead we make. Plus, I figure that if we make undead ourselves, then we can find out better way to destroy them when we next meet them Scourge.

Perhaps, but now that the Lich King has disappeared the urgency has disappeared and it'll get kicked down the priority list while we think of things we can bring to bear against Loken. Maybe it'll be a good option, but probably not as much as improving our mastery of black powder, enchantments, alchemy, golems, the Light, etc.

If you honestly think I am doing all those things then report me. I am not making Ad hominem attacks, goalpost shifting or debating dishonestly. The fact that a mod that was just in here 30 minutes ago didn't infract me actually supports this. Don't make accusations just because you disagree with me and I didn't cave in when Xicree decided to go on a rant about things that had nothing to do with my argument.

Agreed on necromancy, although if there is sufficient new shinies others may not go for it.
I'll admit I'm more likely to go with focusing on the Light, in the hopes we can unlock Piety options.
...Well and also because I've got this idea of making something like Light temples we can set up everywhere to fuck over necromancy.

It would be good for using against the old gods.

Elemental enchantments also seem interesting to me. I seem to recall reading something about a WoW substance called elementium, is that a thing, or is it just fanon? If it is a thing, I gather from the name that it is good for elemental enchantments, but is there anything else it is good for?

Or maybe we'll have better options under Golems. Shrug, who knows what we'll need in five turns?

I'd like to fold Light stuff under research and remain Atheist Spiders, since, every other dynasty has a pious society and options that reflect it.

I don't think that's realistically an option we can take in our situation... opening up Piety could let us more directly protect ourselves against the Old Gods and that's really, really, REALLY important.

Or we could not and take a non-religious view of the Light and get the exact same benefits. The Light doesn't care if you think it's holy or not, it just does it's job.

The Light isn't actually a religion, despite other races considering it as such - and atheism for nerubians is not the same as it is in real life; we know spirits and gods exist, we just choose not to worship them, because it's considered foolish. And the Light does not require worship.

So, I just thought of something. WHY are Nerubians immune to the Undead Scourge's mental influence and undeath plague? Is it because they are descended from Old God worshippers? Because if we can replicate those immunities in other species, then the Lich King's job just gets a hell of a lot harder, doesn't it?

If it's because we were created by / worshiped the Dread Elders, the world would be better off with us not spreading the immunity.

Probably because the Old Gods didn't like anyone else fucking with their toys.

So, there are a couple of things that are problematic about this post. One, it's entirely off topic and disruptive in that way. And two, it's interfering with moderators doing their job, and therefore disruptive in a second way as well.
I should also note that you're wrong about a mod's presence in the thread being indicative of anything at all other than the fact that they had at least one other reason to be in the thread. Not every report is equally clear cut, and there are times when it may take days to close out a report. Please leave us to do our jobs, and don't use the staff as a debating weapon.
Thanks.

Bad idea. There is such a thing as evil magic. Necromancy fits. Remember what happened to Kel'thazad. He started studying necromancy to find a way to protect people against it. Guess where that took him?
