Villainous Ideals Ep 2

So golems basically. If we made them with the purpose of serving Revan, would that mean they would do whatever we ordered them too? Or is that far too vague of a purpose?

Golems would obey orders exactly with no deviation. You could do AIs that do that, but it sorta defeats the purpose. Also actually a bit harder to do it mechanically believe it or not than what you have right now. To properly interpret orders requires a pretty sophisticated intelligence. Magic is a bit of a cheat in that manner.

So what's the difference between golems and Magical AI? A golem already has human level intelligence and sentience. It just can't speak or disobey the orders of its creator. They aren't particularly bright but they are about as intelligent as the lower end of the average human.

[X] Vow to remove the cause of the haunting where the ghosts can hear you. we can likely just throw bots at the problem. Also ham it up. should get us some mania.
-[X] research the cause of the haunting while the bots strip the base of anything useful.

I think we are getting terms confused. I interpret 'golem' to mean magically animated creation. Traditionally this is a stone creature that obeys orders exactly as given. It's basically a stone robot with a 'magical AI'. Lets call this an animating spirit, or AS :D . AS are magical versions of AIs. The strength of them is you can make them and discard them without issue, they aren't quite living, and are basically just an task given form. They are pretty limited, but a good mage can make a good hundred in an hour and be confident that they will do exactly as said.

AIs like you make are actually intelligences. They can record and learn even on the low end. They can also interpret orders such that your intentions are also done. They can react to the environment in a way beyond orders. However, they are very hard to build. Hence why you have the skill for it. It could be considered Revan's specialty. It's actually a pretty rare one too.

Ok, what you consider golems I consider magical automata. Would it be possible to use souls as the AS? Or would that fall under immortality research?

That would fall under magical skills yes. Though that runs into some... Fun ethical concerns depending on what you do.

My general rule involving soul fuckery is only do it with willing participants. Avoids most of the moral issues of enslaving the eternal soul.

Plus willing servants are always better than the unwilling.

With the magic AI i was thinking thinking more in the way of further improving Brilliance and Anti, possibly giving them emotions, Increasing ability to learn/creativity and also allowing them to calculate BS magic into their Scenario's so we dont get Blindsided by the inevitable Harry Potter Good guy
They already actually have emotional capability. It's a developmental milestone for AIs. And they are intelligent. The magic part might be a good idea, but you can work around it if and when I introduce a magic hero. They don't have an autowin there.

It takes a few moments to think on this. Your best bet to get this done quickly is to likely agree to whatever the ghosts need. Not the best option of course, but your biggest priority is time.

"So how would I go about making this vow?" You ask as you look at the base.

Minsuh taps a perfectly manicured finger on the dashboard of the truck. "It depends on the ghost, and the circumstances. In this case, I would get close enough that they can hear you, and make it."

You nod and get out, re-aligning your costume and placing your helment on again. Then you walk towards the looming metal walls of the base.

As you get closer you see figures on the walls. Indistinct, wavery things. It's a lot like looking at a reflection in the water. You get closer, and make out leather clothing. A few feathers here and there. And bows. Which doesn't register as a problem to you until the arrows are already in flight.

All but one of them misses. But the one that hits impacts into your heart. It sears like a freezing metal bar, and you can't help but gasp as the pain hits. Reflexively your hand reaches to pull it out, but it goes straight through the arrow.

You drop to a knee and hiss as another flight of arrows fly through the air. Again all but one miss. This one going through your shoulder.

Behind you, you can hear your bots starting to move on their own. This isn't in your plans. You aren't going to allow this to stop you.

"ENOUGH!" You yell, and feel something flare internally. The arrows stop for an instant, and you get to your feet. "I will NOT be stopped by some echoes of the past. I am REVAN. I will RULE the world."

This isn't quite what you were going to do. You know perepherially. But you glare up at the ghostly archers, and you know that it's what will work for you.

"You will go to sleep now." It's more a command. "I will remove what has desturbed you. I will do this not because of some obligation. Not because you scare me, or could stop me." Your heart flares a bit with warmth, and it counteracts the cold for a brief moment.

"I will do it because those that serve me will be rewarded."

The archers start to fade away.

And you stagger to the ground as the icey waves hit you. Your bots reach your side, and you are helped to your feet. You let yourself have a moment of weakness before you move forward once more.

You barely notice the glimmer in Minsuh's eyes, but think nothing of it.

The ghosts are still there you know. It's a feeling in your heart. An icy grip that's still there even if the arrows are gone. You can't leave until the base is removed in it's entierty. That's their condition, communicated as clear as day though they've spoken not a word of it to you.

Which makes things very inconvient. The radio reception out here is non-existant. You can barely get a signal to Director. This makes things very very difficult in general. Especially since things are starting to heat up back in the city.

---

Revan is out of the city. So this next part is going to be out of his control. However, I will give you the option to control another character for the end part of the arc. The reward will add to things you find in the base if you do it right, or add to things your bots captured if you control one of your bots. And some information.

Also, new ruling. Your final one (I'll give you the option to alter them later.) This one actually has a title

Imperious Rule
You may make an oath to your subordinate, and they to you. So long as your side of the oath is held, you know exactly how much they are holding to theirs.

[] Captain Red
[] Alien Captive
[] Brilliance
[] Anti

[x] Anti

Anti's thought processes were rather simple. Or rather one part of him was rather simple. He was a war machine. Out of all Revan's creations, he is the only one made specifically for that. Brilliance had her flight and scanning, Director was pure information. Even the lesser bots had other functions. Bruiserbots were spectacular at labor involving heavy lifting. His function however was to fight. The Anti-Hero so to speak. He likened himself to a sword. Made specifically to fight people.

Yet in another way he was probably the most complex of the creations as well. There was no ego involved in this assessment, Anti knew. He had to process an entire battlefield using just sight and sound in an instant. He was faster, stronger, and more dangerous. He had to make snap decisions and be certain that his siblings were doing the exactly right thing. War wasn't just hitting things. War was an ever changing an evolving progression.

He liked to keep things simple though. Kept the variables down to a manageable level. Thus when the aliens started swarming around the base and massing for what looked to be an assault, his response was rather simple right back.

"Mass up." Was the order, and the bots gathered together in one of the junkyard bases.

The steel frames were just tools to most of the bots there, so it was relatively simple to have them all contained inside far closer together than any human could stand. The only ones really attached to their bodies were Brilliance and himself, and even then it wasn't that big a deal to barely move.

There was a method to this madness in Anti's mind. Brilliance was to gather information. The most mobile of the group, and hardest to capture. The comm encryption had changed alien side, so Director was working on re-cracking the signal. It wasn't going to be quick, and time was of the essence.

So, while the flier started to move through the city, he powered down unnecessary processes, and began to wait.

The information she sent back wasn't good. The aliens were preparing for something. The teleporter was revving constantly, and there was a lot of activity. Brilliance lacked the context to properly evaluate the movement.

However, he did have it. This looked to be them massing for an attack of some sort. Which didn't make much sense. Director's reporting indicated that the rest of the world was actively rebelling. Despite the mass of the alien fleet, occupying an entire world was a massive undertaking. Pressed hard on nearly every front, the aliens shouldn't have been working towards actual offense.

Anti flicked through scenarios, trying to find out why.

First thought. This was a fighting retreat.

Didn't compute. They weren't being very pressed on this front. Aside from the Heroic attacks, there hadn't been serious assaults.

Second thought. An assault?

Possible, but there weren't obvious high value targets. Creator's bases weren't compromised at the moment, and based on behavior the Alien's targets were the Heroic and Villianous beings.

Third thought. A scorched earth policy?

Doesn't seem likely. Thus far the aliens had been very consistent about minimizing casualties.

There were lesser chances, but Anti discarded them and reviewed his data again. Without input from Revan he was the next more qualified to lead at this moment. Brilliance had more real world experience, but he was made for this. The best prediction was for the second possibility. A final raid and then a fighting retreat?
