Vespa

Considering there is at least one video of a man tasering himself in the nuts, from a time well before deepfakes were a realistic concern… (and I just found one on Reddit of a woman doing it to herself… Ouch.)
I guess I'm giving people too much credit for trying to avoid pain. I just have a hard time picturing anyone being willing to allow experiments like that on their body.

And now, back to our story.

Physically altered Taylor's meeting Panacea/Amy for the first time is always interesting. Can't wait to see how freaked out Shaper is when encountering insect biology modified Taylor. Amy's shard will either recognize the changes as being something it somehow helped with unknowingly, or will bluescreen because 'that doesn't make sense', or just flat out fangirl over really interesting [DATA], and Amy.exe will temporarily freeze while processing. :)

I'm baffled why no-one (at last in E88 roster) don't think about Tay Vespa form from an angle of a power similar to Fenja/Menja one: original wasp/hornet grow when needed to fight and after action shrink again to hide...

The idea leaks to PHO and it is a very confusing few days for the PRT when they start getting a steady deluge of 'suspicious para-insect wasp activity' reports, of varying degrees of seriousness. They end up putting out a statement that they deal with parahuman incidents to make it stop.

Tay steeples her fingers. "So your saying I can do whatever I want..." Her father looks on from the background in moderate concern.

I have always loved the story of where the short form TASER comes from. Everyone knows that LASER is Light Amplification through Stimulated Emission of Radiation, and a MASER just switches the word Microwave for the word Light.

TASER? Stands for Tom A Swift's Electric Rifle. Really. The guy who invented it had read the book Tom Swift and his Electric Rifle and decided to work on the idea for realsies. *laugh* When he got it to work, he just gave Tom a middle initial! (Probably for Alva, thinking of Thomas Alva Edison.)

and how taylor made her way to the base

Unless I missed something she didn't end up doing that it was just a contingency plan, so the cops didn't find any food melted walls or broken doors, just one exploded server.

I don't think they're going to appreciate Coil suddenly dying.

It's a common misconception but Coil isn't involved in any Cauldron plans. He's just a customer who owes them some favours and/or use of his power for a certain amount of time.

With any sufficiently advanced stuff you could probably stun-lock any parahumans with a thinker aspect to their power. Alien biology for Amy, a tesseract for Missy, Alien bugs crawling through a tesseract for Taylor...

Danny: Taylor, where did the cat come from?

"It's a combination of 47 different bugs. It looks pretty convincing until it yawns or flies."

You know, doctors used to make 'house calls'... Do you think Taylor could/would make HOUS Calls?
(Yeah, I'm ignoring the whole Dr. House bit...)
((Also, *fake Scottish accent* "There's a Moose in the HOUS!"))

"Take two Wasp Stings, and you feel any worse call me in the morning. Your bill for this HOUS call has been... All of Your Assets... Thank you for your patronage, please call again."

During said HOUS Call she pulled a Clippy impersonation.
Clippy. This is 2011. Taylor has an ancient desktop computer (possibly once her Mother's). It could actually have Clippy running in its copy of MS Office... Yes, I'm assuming M$ exported this from Earth Alph - possibly as some sort of twisted revenge scheme...

(I'm assuming Earth Bet has non-M$ OS on their computers, but it emulates Windows and MacOS (and other OSs) well enough to run software for those on 10+yr old kit. Why? Because, poor supply lines, butterflies, and a crazed cape attack on big corp HQ would never happen.)

"Clippy needed killin'..."

Sorry, that was all I could think of. (By the way, did you get a notification about your message being too short? I only wrote this section because the site fussed at me...)

strange thing, but i never had issues with Clippy, and i've used MS Office since its inception
There was an easy way to turn it off, or even uninstall, and if you did a custom installation you had the option of excluding it right from the start.

Organization installs of MS Office may have done one of those.

Also some folks just naturally skipped the versions of MS Office that had it on by default, which was only Office 97 and Office 2000. Going from Office 95 (no Clippy) to Office XP (Clippy off by default) wasn't all that rare, and even larger jumps could occasionally be found.
