Investigating the Seven Knives doesn't seem that urgent. They almost all dead anyway, and I doubt that we will find the leader. Finding out the secrets behind their antimagic is tempting, but there are more important things right now.

The symbols are interesting. It's hard to say how useful pursuing this avenue will be, as we just don't know anything.

Whether he wants to kill her or not, Brice certainly looks like a domineering douchebag who wants to control Elita. This is not acceptable. If we could find some evidence that allows us to stop the wedding, it would be great. It's a pretty long shot, though.

If they split up, then investigating the guests is the safest option for Illona. I think an assassination attempt is unlikely in the middle of a throng of people.

Going after Elita is not likely to tells us anything new. I don't think Brice wants her dead before the wedding, so she should be reasonably safe for now.

On the whole, I would like to investigate the symbols and Brice. Maybe there is even a connection? On the other hand I don't want Illona and Asya to split up. Damn.
 
The husband-to-be is certainly an asshole to Illona, but I don't take that to mean that he's strongly tied with the assassins. His family is seeming like a twisty lot, enough to make any reasonable person paranoid... and I don't think it's all that paranoid to want to keep the person that you desperately want alive (that is, Elita) in close, unsupervised company with someone who stands to gain massive material benefits if she dies.

I do think it's interesting that he just dismissed this all as a ruse. It could be that his own spyring was set to make sure that absolutely nothing would screw up his big day in terms of assassinations and didn't anticipate anything to happen now. After all, they didn't intend to do anything before Asya started taking names and choking fools. With us being awfully vague on the matter, he has to determine what he thinks would make the most sense.

A few of you have been saying that it's not worth it because they're all but destroyed. No, this is exactly why we should pursue the leads while this is still warm and ensure the leader's destruction. He's more dangerous than the rest all put together, and that sword in the chest is going to leave him with a grudge. This is as weak as he's going to get, his support is temporarily suffering from all being dismembered. We can't allow him to escape, rebuild, and try again later.

Investigation does not mean we are stalking him, though it might end that way.

It means looking into his origins, connections, finances etc. searching for something out of place.

Even if we are caught red-handed, we have rank over him, so it's not like he can do much about it. Not to mention that our magic might make our job easier than Asya's.

You may have forgotten it but asya can´t read our language, so her looking into the symbols makes in very very hard for her.
Also i think it is better if Illona looks into the symbols as she has the best chance of finding something there as she is the one of the two that grew up with a royal education and the int sister looking out for her.

The symbols Illona wants to look into are the heraldry and crests Asya saw the Seven Knives carrying. The ones she mentioned that causes Elita to go very pale.

He also can´t command asya as she only answers to us. Lets not forget that she is our general with means that yes she to outranks him.

The symbols seem like a waste of time. Elita already knows what they mean and is taking action on it. We're playing catch up and will just step on her toes.

Pretty much. Symbols is redundant, Elita knows what houses they represent, and they're Big Shit houses, which I'm pretty sure includes Brice's house whether or not he's informed.

Us knowing what houses are involved is unlikely to be more effective than the one who had been LIVING here.

Literally anything else would be more useful, up to and including stalking Elita.

OK, you have convinced me that sending Asya to investiagte the symbols is unlikely to be helpful. I'm still not convinced that sending Asya after Elita is necessary. Elita is heavily guarded, while Illona isn't.

The thing that troubles me most is that the guy has a disdainn for mages coupled with apparently not knowing that Elita is one. At this point I am not sure if this marriage would work even as an alliance of convenience.

I really don't see how having Illona look into Brice is a good idea. She's not really specced for Intrigue and Brice is personally hostile to her so trying to wheedle information out of him is going to be a failure. What she can determine through public information is already known to Elita, so I don't see any opportunity here to uncover information which is really decisive. On top of the chance that Brice is just a red herring.
