Somebody could try confessing to the one they love and, through a cruel twist of fate,get hit by a car on the way.

AN:Hello sufficient velocity and welcome to my very first quest.

First things first I wanna thank anyone who decided to take a look at this, as inexperienced as I am at this sort of thing I hope I can make something enjoyable for y'all.

With that outta the way(and boy did this slip my mind a few minutes ago) here's what this quest is all about.

Basically you will receive clients with work offerings for you, this can range from simple messanger jobs(like delivering a letter to a loved one) to assasinations.

In other worlds you tie up the loose ends of the people who quite simply couldn't do so themselves whilethey were alive.


The duration of these jobs can vary from Short term to Long term, the first will take a few days at most while the second can take several months.

Aditionally you will travel to several different earths to take care of these jobs, the specifif location will be posted along with the job.

Cold by nature- Thank to you heritage the cold doesn't bother you one bit.
Ice resistance +50%

Soul manipulator-You can sense souls from the people around you and, if they're outside the body, manipulate them to an extent(such as moving them where you want, place them in objects etc.)

Death Schyte- It's part of you.
It can be summoned anytime but doesn't give bonuses like a normal weapon would.
It's impossibly sharp, and can sever souls from bodies If the receiver of the slash is dead or dies during the hit.
(The Schyte is based on INT and ignores enemy RES)

Class-related combat ability.

Mind killer- Standart death evility, 50% chance of dealing the atack roll damage to SP as well as HP.

This section is meant to give a brief overview of each verse visited.

Disgaea is a tactical JRPG set in a massive multiverse composed of worlds with roughly similar characteristics.

First is the Netherworld, it's inhabited by demons and is where the MC is based at.
(Note that there are several of these.)

Second is the Human world, populated by humans. Obviously.(There's several of these too.)

Last is Celestia wich is where the angels(and presumably the souls of good humans) live.(So far there only seems to be one.)(Big enough to span all Human worlds of course.)

Humans work more or less like we do, with the exception of some worlds having learned about magic.

The demons are ruled by an overlord( in each netherworld)whose position can be passed on either by blood or by taking out the current one.

They tend to use violence as their first means of solving a problem(Valvatorez decided to prove he wasn't defying warden Axel by beating him up for instance.).

They come in all shapes and sizes.(just seach up the in-game classes.)

Their job is to scare humans so they don't get too confident on themselves.

They need "Fear energy" to live, which is generated anytime a human is scared of the dark.

Angels Are lead by the High Seraph of Celestia Lamington, it's thanks to him and Overlord Krichesvskoy that there's peace between the angels and demons

They regard demons as being Absolute evil, themselves as Absolute good and think Humanity are in need of their protection.

Angels look like winged humanoids.

Their blood is so pure it can cure diseases.

Completely Pure Hearted humans can become angels upon death.

They make miracles come true to give humanity hope.

They sustain themselves and Celestia with "Awe energy" that is created everytime a human prays.

All Disgaea games are stand-alone but set in the same universe with characters from other Nippon-Ichi(The developer) games showing up either in-story or (more commonly) in the post-game as recrutable characters.

The story of all the games is, a said before, separate but usually the main character wants to defeat the Overlord of their netherworld for personal reasons(Taking over themselves, Reforming the netherworld(With the power of Sardines!), because he corrupted my planet and turned everyone into demons, ETC.)

Something most of everyone should be familiar with but I'll place it here nonetheless.

PMMM is a deconstruction of the Magical Girl genre, in the series young girls with potential to become Magical Girls are approached by a catrabbit thing called Kyubey, he offers them a wish and in exchange they'll dedicate their lifes to figthing Witches, monsters born of despair and curses. Sounds good rigth?

Well it would be, if Kyubey didn't fail to mention several important aspects such as the fact that MG's souls are now the soul gems they carry and that they turn into Witches themselves if they fail to collect Witch Seeds(dropped by Witches after death) needless to say that most girls snap after hearing this(and turn into Witches, because of course trauma does that)the competition for grief seeds also makes MG's highly territorial and very likely to kill one another.

So basically, Kyubey's a bastard, Magical Girls are not pleasent to hang around with for the most part and to me meguca is to suffer.

This section is where the all the notes the MC takes will be kept.
  • Tamiko disappeared from her house in Kazamino without warning during the nigth, her disappearence caused her father to look for her, which proved fatal when a rebar beam fell on him.

  • Tamiko was not the first girl her age to disappear without rhyme or reason, there were several incidents like that all over the city for the past year.

  • Age and gender appear to be only somewhat related, while the most common disappearences are young girls people of all ages and genders simply vanish as well.

  • She was acting normal until the nigth she disappeared.

  • She went to Kazamino middle school and had several close friends, the father didn't know their adresses.

  • The disappearences are recent, but there have been incidents prior.

  • Girl who vanish seem to lose themselves in though a lot, Tamiko doesn't share this trait with the others.

  • Tamiko spent a lot of time on the phone.

  • Tamiko spoke a lot to someone named( or nicknamed probably the latter) Fox.

You strength is based on both you level and your stats

If a enemy is incredibly strong for their level(a boss enemy) they will have an next to their name

Like in Disgaea skills level up as they're used, I'll be keeping trasection(note leveling up makes the skill more powerfull and increases range if it's a spell.
You only learn new skills by leveling up and getting better at using weapons.)

Thanks to the new mechanics every skill has a different rank that can't be upgraded but gains a bonus based on skill level

Ranks and lvl 1 bonuses of each

F: - 30% of the atack roll

E: + 10% of the atack roll

C: + 50% of the atack roll

B: + 90% of the atack roll

A: + 130% of the atack roll

S: + 170% of the atack roll

SS: + 210% of the atack roll

Each skill level up will add 20% to the rank bonus.

Additionally skills will partially pierce enemy defenses, dealing 30% of the damage through enemy defenses.
Then again if they null your atacks what's the gonna do?

As for weapons, you'll also level up your proficiency with them, your rank of proficiency affects how fast that happens.
Leveling up proficiency causes you to learn skills specific to a weapon type.
There isn't a limit to how many of these you can learn but you can only use these if you have the correct weapon equipped.

Leveling

As for what the advantages and disavantages of each weapon:

Swords skills aren't particualrly strong but they have a preety big range.
The simplest weapon and one of the most versatile ones.
The use ATK
Rankin them up increases atack and hit rolls.

Spears have a bigger range than swords and their skills deal more damage and help you move around the battlefield, they only hit 1 enemy at a time tough.
They use ATK
Improving at using these results in a decrease in damage

Fists make you faster and the skils knock the enemy around and have a balanced range in general (fists also have the skill with with the biggest AOE,Big Bang.)
They use ATK and SPD
Leveling these up increases dodge rolls

Axes hit like a truck but their weigth makes them unwieldy they also have extremely damaging single target skills along with some minor AOE ones.
They use ATK
Atack rolls get a bonus from ranks.

Staves strengthen magic but you can't learn skills from them, instead your magic power increases by 5% with each rank.
They use INT

Bows are long ranged and precise with several AOE skills.
They use ATK and HIT
Rank increases hit roll

Guns make you faster and have longer range than bows but their skills have a fairly small AOE and dealing damage with them requires precise aiming.
They use HIT and SPD
Getting better with them increases dodge chance.

Last but not least-Battles

I will be using a dice-based system from here on.
Basically two die will be rolled everytime someone atacks, the first is the atacker's roll and the second is the defender's roll.

If the atacker's roll is higher than the defender's the atack will connect and another d100+(The relevant stat)+(bonuses)-(Relevant enemy stat(DEF,RES))-(enemy bonuses) will be rolled to determine the damage dealt, otherwise the atack misses.

Several bonuses the character themselves have will affect all rolls but the most basic one is the LVL bonus.

For every level over the opponent's the character will get a bonus 1% of the final roll added to the final roll.
This bonus caps out at 50%.

You will be kept informed of the opponent's LVL, HP and SP at the start of every post during battle as well as yours.

Of course you hardly do that these days. You bougth a small office with the money you gained back then and spent a good chunk of the rest to make the place look presentable.

You then bullied a prinny into joining you and put the thing to work,you already spent enough time doing manual labor to be worth a lifetime you think.

You also used whatever litte remained of your money to spread buisness posters all over town in hopes of spreading the word of what you're doing.

And now you sit in a comfy chair in your newly-opened office waiting for a job while drinking from a cup of cofee courtesy of... what was the prinny's name again? You forgot to ask.

Just as your about to do that you hear the door open and a pinny walks in.

"I'm here to hum... tie up a loose end dood?" The human soul-turned-stuffed penguin asks.

And now you're grinning this is your very first client."Then your in the rigth place!" You answer enthusiastically"Now what do you need?"

"Yep!"you say cheerfully"I just got a client too, I'm heading out for a job actually."You can't help but puff out your chest proudly. Meaver gives you a look.

"Really?"She asks.

"What'd I do?"

She sighs"Nothing. Forget about it."Meaver looks at you with an unreadable expression" Anyway where are you off to?" She looks disgruntled for some reason.

"The human world, Kazamino city."you say"And somewhere people won't see please!"

Meaver's face ligths up with a mischiveous smile for a second before the dimensional gate behind her flares to life, ligthing up in a multi-color ligthshow you could spend hours looking at.

Too bad there's work to do.

"All set, don't forget to bring me a souvenir." She says as she takes a step to the side to open up the path.

Okay you say as you step through"I'll buy you something. Oh and I'll also save yoj a Newt!"

You hear what you think is a "please no"... Nah can't be. before you arrive at the other side.

After pulling yourself out of the water and drying out your clothes,(Thank you fire magic, you will forever be apreciated for this.)which were miraculously spared of being smeared with... residues, you start planning your next steps.

From all Tamiko's father said she was acting normally until the night she vanished, still you think it migth be best to get a second opinion. From somebody close to her preferably

As far as you know Tamiko's mother is still alive and according to the father she was remarkably close to her daugther, you decide to pay her a visit later today.

But rigth now you think you should go to the school and ask around, classes should be going rigth now and you're bound to find a friend of your missing girl eventually.

You also feel something extremely agressive somewherw in the city, but you'll take a look after you're done investigating.

You climb out of the sewers through a drain pipe which was, thakfully, in an alley and as such you got to avoid questions as to why you were there in the first place.

You write down a note to remind Meaver to be careful with her drop sites and walk out of the alley to find a steer lined with bars, restaurants, arcades and dance clubs, the street is mostly empty rigth now with a few kids going to the arcades and a few older passerbys.

It looks like a nice place to pass the night,you think, but it's midday right now and you're working anyway.

You write down the location for later tough.

You ask a few people about the location of the school and after much wandering around you find a relatively big structure divided in three sections, walled off by a metal fence with a pleasant looking garden surrounding each of the three buildings.

There's a sign at the entrance that reads 'Kazamino middle school'.

You quickly jot down the location and walk inside.

As it turns out you walked in during lunch time. And while people were curious as to why you weren't wearing uniform they left you alone anyway.

After a few minutes of stalking through the corridors you find a girl that matches one of the descriptions Tamiko's father gave you completely focused on eating a sandwich next to a set of lockers.

You put on the the most friendly smile you can muster and approach her "Hello. You wouldn't happen to be Minami Satsuki would you?" You ask.

The girl tears her head away from her sandwich and starts looking you up and down.



After a few seconds she looks at you in the eye with her brow furroed"Yes that's me."she says "Have we met before?" She asks, furrowing her brow even further.

You suddently feel very uncofortable"N-No." you stutter, your smile long gone"I'm just here to ask about Mifune that's all." You say trying your hardest not to flinch under the smaller girl's gaze. You didn't try hard enough."My name's Rina by the way..."you add.

Minami is outrigth glaring at you now"What do you have to do with Her!"she snaps."You know she disappeared rigth? Do you have something to do with it? I don't think I ever saw you around!"she growls menacingly.

You shake your head"I-it's nothing like that."you stammer out"Her dad hired me to look for her t-that's all."

Her posture softens somewhat at that before she stops for a moment"Fine" She says after an unconfortably long pause"I'll bite. Ask away." She still looks at you suspiciously but at least she's cooperating.

Thank god for that.

You ask her if she noticed something odd about Tamiko before she dissapeared.

"Well she's been spending a awfull lot of time speaking to someone on the phone lately."Minami says"I dunno with who tough."


You ask her about the mysterious disappearences.

She just shrugs "They ain't nothing new."she looks out the window"There's been some weird crap going on the past few years, people vanishing in thin air is just what's happening now." She sighs"It ain't safe to be out at nigth anymore."

And finally you ask her if she has any idea about why most victims are young girls.

That actually gets her the shudder"I have a few." She says" But it's probably some creep out in the streets or something." She grimaces" Better not even think about it."

You thank her for the collaboration before excusing yourself and starting to walk away.

"Wait!"

You're interrupted by Minami shouting"What is it?" You ask, turning toward the intense little girl.

"I got one last thing."she says"The girls who vanish seem like they kinda... space out every once in a while. It wasn't happening to Tamiko but y'know...could help."she shrugs"that's it."she says going back to her sandwich

With that you turn around and go ask the remainder of the student body about your target.

After asking around a bit more you find out that the remainder of the student body is nowhere near as usefull as Minami was. You hear plenty of stories about aliens kidnapping people(Yeah rigth.) and demons stalking the place and dragging people to hell(That's not how it works...).

You manage to stay roughly and hour before the bell rings again and a rude janitor forces you to leave so he can clean up the place was filled with discarded papers and cans.


Either way you managed to get something usefull out of this whole thing and thatms what matters.

(It's 1:00 PM by the time you leave.)

Next stop is Tamiko's house, thankfully the father gave you the adress so the place is preety easy to find.

You arrive at a medium size house painted white, just like all the houses next to it.

All the ligths are turned off and you can't hear anything moving inside, the whole place is quiet and depressing.

You take in a deep breath and knock on the door.

When nobody answers you knock again.

And again.

And again.

Eventually you realize nobody's going to answer and reach out to see if there's a soul inside.

The place is completely empty.

Okay that explains that.

You ponder what to do for a bit before coming to the conclusion that something inside migth give you a clue.

So you walk around the house, find a backdoor and freeze the hinges off before kicking the thing in.

The result is what you'd expect, the door flies off and lands with a crash inside the empty floor of what you guess is the kitchen gue to the presence of unwashed dishes and silverware.

You enter the house and notice how unclean the place is, it seems the mother was too torn over her losses to clean up.

You feel for her, you truly do.

You decide to not stick around too long and search for Tamiko's room, you'll sweep the place and leave.

You eventually find the girl's room, it's on the very end of the house and,surprisingly, seems to be the only place that's actually clean in the while house.

With your prioritised leads explored you decide to take a look at what the hell that agressive thing you felt was.

Whatever it is it's moving.

Thankfully it's getting closer to you.

You eventually manage to pin the thing down, surprisingly enough it stop in a small clinic in the western part of town.

You notice the thing seems to be blanketing the place with a weird aura and that the people around seem extremely down.

You also notice how they're starting to pick up a ridiculous amount of drugs from the shelves.

And that the're completely ignoring you no matter how many times you try to get their attention.

You feel you stomach sink once you realize what they're trying to do

You start searching for the 'center' of the thing and find it in a room filled with shelves of what you guess is medicine.

The second you approach the 'distortion' opens up and you find yourself in a the middle of a cartoonish looking traditional japanese village, with little papper lanterns, and even some restaurants and shops,looked over by a massive palace in the distance.

You're immediatly surrounded by people that look like paper-cutouts from some ancient japanese painting.

They're closing in on you and boy do they not look happy to see you.

Whatever's trying to make those people commit suicide is here, and you're damn well gonna have some words with it no matter how many paper-cutouts it tries to put in between itself and you.

You let out a fire spell at one of the paper people and the force of the fiery explosion sends it flying in a shower of pink petals.

Weird. But you're not really in a position to question it rigth now.

You fire another spell, this time an ice one and catch one of the moster shredding it completly and repeat the process with all of you spells until the group is completely gone.

You run through the the cartoonish village doing your best to avoid running into any other group of paper people, you would be deligthed to figth them any other time but you're kind of running on a time limit here.

As you run to the village you notice two things.

The first is that there isn't a single soul in here, nothing here's alive.

The second is that this place is completely covered in the 'stuff' from before, it's still trying to glue itself to your body, though it's having as much luck this time as the last one, and it's particularly thick in the big japanese looking palace.

Obviously you made it you destination, where else could the boss be hiding other than the ominous palace in the distance?

Surprisingly enough you manage to reach the palace without much trouble, you didn't even see more those paper-people after the first group.

Not that you're complaining, it made your job a lot easier.

You stand on the front of two oversized green gates, cartoonish like the rest of the strange world you seem to be on, they're lit up by two rows of lanterns reaching around two meters meters in heigthwich are glowing with green flames.

This place reminds you of the kind of castle an Overlord would have. And you're sure there's going to be some boss-like thing in there if the buildup is anything to go by.

Well if there's a boss hiding somewhere in there you're gonna have to present yourself.

The way only a proper demon can.

You rear back you leg and deliver a full force kick to the door, it flies open with a shower of of dust and splinters from the area immediatly around where your kick connected.

You hear the sound of feet rushing toward you and start seeing the shadows something vaguely person-shaped coming to the door at full speed.

You pull out your crooked staff and prepare to launch a volley of fire.

Five mosters bust their way through the cloud of dust and you take a second to check them up.

The Ottos are similar to the Russels you saw before,tough these guys are much better drawn, their lines look much clearer their colors are a bit brigther than the others and they look much more detailed, you also notice that they're also considerably stronger than the last guys.

The second they come in range you unleash three Fire spells, a blanket of ambers ligths itself up underneath the Ottos before exploding outwards, four of them are blown away immediatly, their bodies exploding into string, but one of them took notice of your atack and lept over the flames toward you with a battlecry...

Turn around loose and catching the fallen familiar in a gust of wind, wich tears it asunder as it lifts ot in the air with barely any effort.

Yet again you didn't even get scratched, this place really needs to up it's ante if it wants to stop you.

You hear something like a cry inside the castle and quickly take a look inside and find that the place is,indeed, enourmous but it's completely bare.

The whole place is marble-white on the inside and it's only walls are the ones you see outside.

Where's the boss?

You get your answer as you feel the whole place shaking and a bursts out from underneath the floor, you feel the whole place shaking as the rest of the creature pulls itself to the ground floor.

It looked somewhat feminine, with long hair covering all it's head and most of it's backside and a pink kimono with weird triangular patterns drawn into it, it's arms are long an thin and end in grey hands tipped with wicked looking black nails.

It also doesn't look like a paper-cutout like the rest of this weird place. It looks more like a doll, it's body looked like it was made of smoky grey porcelain.

The entire world also seemed to ripple somehow and the little village bellow uncoiled itself, with the string making up the paper flying freely in the air in random patters and directions.

Natalie lets out a bone-chilling cry and rushes you,limbs swinging wildly and claws bare and ready to rip at you.

The ante has been upped it seems.

Not a moment after you cast your spell a fiery explosion detonates near the creature's head as it hoes past and engulfs half it's body, the Witch let's out a strangled cry and you see several cracks spreading through it's porcelain body,with some sort black ooze pouring out of the cracks in spades,before the smoke completely covers it.

You hear another scream rigth before Natalie barrels out of the smoke, one hand on the floor and another wide and ready to slash at you.

The icy pillar destroys half of the witch's torso,along with an arm, on impact and sends her careening toward the ceiling at full speed, despite her injuries she manages to hook a claw into the ceiling and uses her momentum to swing herself in your direction, full intent on smashing you under her as a last ditch effort.

You jump back on your feet, your demonic blood boiling hot on your veins from the battle and jump out of the way of the witch's divebomb and cast ice one more time, this time tough you mold the spell into a massive ice spike.

Natalie lets out a cry as she tries to manuever herself out of the way of the spike, but it's too late and she falls into the icy pinnacle with a loud Crack! And one last scream as her body completely falls apart.

You feel a surge of energy and your blood's temperature reaches a new heigth for a second.

A level up? Nice.

As you calm down from the battle one tough becomes quite prominent in your head.

You got so swept up in the figth you don't remember where the exit is.

How do you get out?

Actually why did you come in in the first place.

As if to answer your question the world around ripples and comes apart, soon you're standing in the back room of the pharmacy again.

You bring your fist to your hand as you remember the reason for your weird little adventure.

The people at the pharmacy! That's why you were figthing these things!

Holy shit you forgot about the people.

You rush outside and find a pile of medicine on the center of the pharmacy and people passed out everywhere, no one seems hurt safe for a women who seemed to have fallen out of a bench for some reason. And a quick check up on their souls reveals that yes, they are all alive and well, Natalie was dead and it's control over them ended it seems.

You walk outside and get ready to look for more clues about Tamiko. That was a fun little workout but now's time to go back to work.

"So you're just gonna leave?" You turn around and see a girl standing near the entrance of the pharmacy


She looks at you with hostility and... disapointment you think?

"You know once I saw you enter the building I figured that maybe you were trying to help those people."the girl sighs"But I guess it was too good to be true. You were just after the grief seed weren't you?"Her expression shifted into a glare."So tell me Yellow, why are you on our territory?"
