As such, the Committee suggests to first begin with the removal from draft animals from the divisional structure before expanding the process of mechanising the army.

[x] plan:no to the zealots

I greatly dislike the plan name in particular because I would be very much in favor of doing some overtures to YPG later, especially considering their rapid growth, but I'll go with the nationalist sentiment for this one and it's counterproductive to make another plan just because of a pet peeve.

Army reforms fly completely over my head; I'll just trust that choice to people who look like they know what they are doing. I hope I don't need armor penetration spreadsheets to make sense of what is going on in the quest and how our forces compare to that of our closest neighbours.

What the penetration table basically came down to is that the 90mm gun carried by the tank can demolish anything less armoured than the Edinburgh AT-7 and the United States of Vinland "Clarke" tanks, with the basic shell able to punch through the armour of the at the moment still standard-issue Minute tanks of the Atlantic Federation, but that the 122mm cannon carried that is carried by the Model E Schakals and the ill-fated Ultimate Tank still has an advantage at close range.

Also, army reform was not chosen, so...

The second part of the results is rolling along nicely! Thanks for your patience everyone!

Europa's Narben - Turn one results, part two
The industries, agriculture and infrastructure

[X] Development of better infrastructure
DC: 30. Roll: 73

The roads and railways leading to the east had always been, as an unofficial rule, been less developed than those going to the west, the north, and the south. To the south laid Dacia, important for resource imports to the factories in the west, where both train and truck could reach easily. To the north, if one traveled at a shallow north-east bend, laid the now-devastated former Imperial capital, Schwartzgrad. To the west once laid the important industrial and agricultureal heartlands of the nation - even if they were now occupied by the Valois Republic. In contrast to them, what laid in the east? A collection of villages and towns, of provinces where undevelopment had resulted in consistently lower productivity and tax income, and where uneducated peasants toiled in the fields.

It changed, ever so slowly, starting from March. The worst of the thaw had ended on the 19th, and construction crews together with locally sourced labour began a project that would propel the once considered worthless territories of the east into the greater Germanian whole, and connect most - if not all - of the towns and villages with the cities: Where once green grass had stood and cows grazed, now laid many kilometers of both railway track and road surfaces, with sleepy towns and villages now woken up early in the morning by the sound of a passing Ragnite-powered train sounding the horn as it passed over a crossing.

For many, it was a delight. Connected to the rail network and now able to use a car to easily travel from place to place on modern roads without needing to use the uncomfortable horse-car trails, many work and business opportunities were opened up for the young peasants whom worked day in day out on the farms. But for some, it was a hated change, the tranquility and peace of the village destroyed by modernist toys. With the road system gradually modernized all over Germania, good and people can now travel with ease.

"Dear Natashya,

It, as you predicted, did not take me long to find a good job in the city after the government laid down the railway to Aach. It appears that there is a chronic shortage of 'service personnel' in the cities, and it appears I fit the job perfectly: They have me bring food and drinks to the people who ordered them, sometimes do the dishes in the kitchen, and I even get tips! Tips, Natasyha, they are amazing, and the people here are too! Attached to this letter is some of the money I got from the job here, please spend it well if you want to. Traveling to and from the city is somewhat expensive though, so maybe I can in the future rent a house for us?

I hope that mum and dad in Aach are not having a hard time, now that I am working in the city. Farming can be such a hard job, speaking from experience: Can you ask them if they can write me back? Also, please tell Sister Kliara that I like the woolen shawl she knitted for me!

Ever yours,

Jürgen."

With infrastructure much improved, the nation grows more unified as people from all over the country come together in various ways: On the train, in the bus, or in the car, and in locations where they wouldn't have dreamed of less than a year ago. The YPG grows slightly more loyal to the coalition, while several GNVP members approve. The KVP grows slightly more loyal to the coalition as well.

The ZP grows more hostile, and begins to fracture.

[X] The naval legacy
DC: 35. Roll: 84

At the end of the War, when the order came from the Imperial Naval Command to participate in one last grand battle against the fleets of the Atlantic Federation, the fire of revolution ignited amongst the men and officers of the Falzstadt Naval Task Force. It was a bloody affair: None of the officers and men on the Task Force wanted to sail out into certain death, which as one of the most underequipped and undersupplies posts of the Navy it would have been, and they fought fiercely against the fate Imperial High Command assigned to them: It was during the fighting between the responding Army units and the mutineers that the city, already damaged and partially destroyed by a naval bombardment from the perfidious Valois navy, began to languish, the once vibrant city gradually emptying of life.

A decade later, help for Falzstadt finally arrives in the form of scores of construction companies and engineers, backed by a small tide of Reichswehr men to assist in the rebuilding of the city. It is hard work, from draining the flooded drydocks and scrapping the old, rusting cranes which once hauled cargo, from tearing down wrecked houses to building new, modern buildings, but the workers and labourers are nothing if not enthusiastic: It takes only three months before the outer city, hit the hardest by the combined mutiny and Valois naval bombardment, is refurbished to modern standards, with rows of two story houses now contrasting beautifully with the inner city - at least, according to the architects - and for empty stores to be restored back to prominence, awaiting new owners.

It is the naval side of the reconstruction that would pose the biggest problems though, and not just because of the rust eating away at the various machines that made the harbour so efficient. In the harbour lay a dozen different vessels, ranging from destroyers to cruisers, which had been sunk during the mutiny at the end of the Second Europan War, the iron corpses of long dilapidated ships blocking any and all entry to large ships. Specialized barges are quickly called up, the ships cut up ever so slowly into pieces of iron and steel that can be recycled into more useful applications, and what can be repaired towed to shore: In the end however only a single destroyer, the former Z-38, can be recovered despite the best efforts of the salvage crews working on the project.

As April arrives and the discussions in the Imperial Diet about the expendenture diverted to Falzstadt roars up, the reconstruction of the city wraps up, and masses of refugees from western Germania begin to flock to the new city. While it is not much to improve the economy, the GNVP approves - and the KVP is giddy with the trade from other successor states of the Empire that can now enter Germania once more. It is decided on the 23rd of April by almost unanimous vote by the people in the city to rename it to Neustadt, to cleanse the stains of the past: The "New City" of Germania will shine forever more as a beacon, it's light reaching all across the seas and land!

The destroyer Z-38 is recovered by the salvage crews, and is slowly being repaired. It will take some time, but the ship will be back in service around late November! Armed with four 10.5cm cannons and six 533mm torpedo tubes, while weighing in at 1,800 tonnes, it outclasses everything currently in service by the Kaiserliche Reichsmarine - which is almost exclusively a green water navy at the very best, and a brown water navy at worst.

Falzstadt is rebuilt in a better shape than ever before, and renamed Neustadt by the inhabitants. The economy, with the opening of new shops and with ample opportunity to work at the reopened harbour, is predicted to slowly but steadily improve.

The GNVP becomes amicable to future Coalition proposals, and is predicted to be divided on the Vote of No Confidence issue due to government policy beginning to mirror that of the GNVP. The ZP becomes more fractured - and continues to grow hostile.

[X] Opening up the Maikal mines
DC: 35. Roll: 100 (natural crit!). 1d100 critical roll: 64!

While open season had been declared on the resource desposits said to be located within the Maikal Mountain Range, the first to arrive in the area were not, as one may have expected, hopeful miners ready to dig for proverbial gold: Instead, over a hundred prospectors and analyists descended on the majestic mounts, searching for the most quantitive and qualitive areas suitable for resource extraction. Samples were taken, test mine shafts constructed, the composition of the ores carefully analyzed for inconsistencies or deficiencies - but in March, as the snow melted and the flowers began to readily bloom, a great discovery would shake the very foundations of what had, until then, only been a small local enterprise.

Having expected to find copper, the prospectors had found Ragnite.

Buried within the mountains, sometimes several kilometres above sea level, are large concentrates of high quality iron ore, large veins of Argentite and Molybdenite (Silver and the steel-strenghtening Molybdenum), while closer to ground level, in several massive caves accessed by strategic usage of dynamite, lay a grand Ragnite vein, the mysterious azure crystal which has been the basis for Europan technological development for centuries now. And the bounty keeps growing: Molybdenum, Ragnite, iron, tungsten, even small bauxite reserves, all have been found in diverse amounts within the mountains and in untouched ore veins underground, presenting an untapped treasure to anyone with even the slightest knowledge of economics.

The silver and gold, initially thought to be the most profitable of the ores discovered, was rapidly overtaken by the other raw minerals. Within only a couple of weeks dozens of mining companies, from hopeful rookies to experienced veterans, would arrive to put their own claim on what was sure to be one of the richest and most diverse ore deposits in the former territories of the East Europan Imperial Alliance.

Why the various countries that made up the alliance never discovered the deposits however, is a mystery to be solved another time.

CRITICAL SUCCESS!
The Maikal mountains have been discovered to have a large cache of mineral resources, greatly helping the economy as the mining sector gets a shot in the arm! Due to the increasing mineral output, production in general increases, and exports to the neighbouring powers - with the exception of those alligned with the Atlantic Federation - are being increased due to the large tonnage being produced.

The YPG in particular is estatic with the find, with Sister Lulia calling the entire event a "Sign of divine providence by the Valkyur, whom have deigned to aid Germania in her fight against her enemies". In any case, it is expected that more votes in a future election will go to the YPG and the KVP.

The KPG fails to influence the workers working at the site due to proper pay, readily available healthcare and good working conditions, partially funded by the very resources being mined. Several communist agitators have been ratted out, and taken into custody for disturbing the peace.

The KPG will start with six less infantry regiments should a civil war break out.

Regional Diplomacy

[X] Tea in Theodorichstadt
Minimal DC for success: 50. Roll: 32.

While the situation domestically is slowly yet surely improving, with entire cities being connected to the roadwork and a grand national rebuilding commencing, diplomacy with the northern state neighbouring Germania has hit an unexpected wall. The groundwork for diplomatic relations have been laid, but internal matters within Baltland have unfortunately torpedoed any grand overtures that could have been made: It is certainly not the end of the world, in particular with recent windfalls, and after President Randal has handled the internal situation, diplomacy can be attempted again.

For now, the north remains amicable to future overtures, nothing more and nothing less.

No reward, roll failed due to internal troubles in Baltland of the revolutionary sort. The situation is expected to be sorted out shortly, and next turn this option can be tried again.

[X] Across the Maikal mountains
Minimal DC for success: 35. Roll: 49.

Kurt Haessler sat behind his desk in the chancellor's office, looking at the gigantic piles of work lined up before him. A few forms from the Maikal mining sites required a signature, a larger stack of paper was folded neatly to his right, and a small clock was gently ticking away to his left: Engrossed in his work, the normally amicable chancellor of Germania had a dour and frustrated expression on his face, the great piles of paperwork and legalese ultimately meaningless in the grand aspect of things without an unified Imperial Diet to push them through. Looking up as his secretary delivered yet another missive from the diplomatic service, Kurt grimaced: There was little chance that any news from the ministry of foreign relations, especially after the northern debacle, would be good.

Finishing the forms on his desk, he retrieved a small letter knive and cut the wax seal that held the missive shut away. Perusing the document first with the same grimace on his face, Kurt's expression rapidly shifted from frustrated to satisified, the news to his surprise a positive one! Dacia had agreed to supply Germania with extensive amounts of their wheat and bread stocks in exchange for raw materials they could now deliver, and the shipment were to begin almost immediately, and transports from Dacia would cross the border within the next week. Standing up and looking out of the window, Kurt's smug grin and gleaming eyes surveyed the capital: There would be no hunger riots this winter, not if he had anything to say about it.

Though the situation had only been partially fixed, the rising sun was slowly but surely driving the black clouds of disaster away - and as the sun shone upon the capital, the rays of light illuminated the face of a content Chancellor.

The chance of the Vote of No Confidence succeeding is reduced by 5 per-cent. The chance of a successful Vote of No Confidence is 50 per-cent.
As more food is put on the table for the average Germanian lower and middle class by a conservative-centrist coalition, the KPG will likely see reduced votes in the next election.
The Dacian diplomacy tree will open once the imminent political issues are dealt with.

Kept you waiting, huh? Please enjoy part two, while I begin work on the next turn.

Wow overall only one action failed this turn and even then we can do it again next turn if we want! So I'd say great progress that crit 100 was much needed both for us and our economy! But yeah overall I say we have strengthen our coalition and seriously lowered the chance of the No Confidence vote from happening! Yeah I'd say my plan worked by a mile but that was mostly because of good rolls!

Though the vote count is incomplete since that's not all the people who voted, perhaps it was cut off because there was an update in between the voting itself and then calling said vote.

Hah! Suck it, commies!

Overall, it's a good day for us.

I also like the fact that if a civil war does start the KPG will have 6 less infantry regiments to use which is two more from the expected four!

Also that Crit we had means it'll be easy for us to support and prepare for round three with the Federation!

This should be the proper vote result.

Also, wow. Jeez, that first turn might have just shot us from clawing our way out of revolts and a bubbling pit of hate and bile directed at he Federation to a somewhat stable country.

  • [X]plan:no to the zealots
-[X]The KVP, in contrast to the ZP, wants instead to focus on restoring national pride. 2-year long conscription, the return of west Germania to the Fatherland, economical reform, and the growth of Germania into a major Europan power are all parts of their programme. However, the KVP voting base is becoming increasingly radicalized due to the lack of KVP laws being passed, and is in fact slowly shrinking with many of their former voters having joined the YPG, the GNVP, or even the KPG.
-[X] There is a dire lack of infantry support weapons... Converting them to assault guns is the best option.
-[X] Keep a few mechanized divisions, and slowly mechanize the rest. It will take more time, but less strain will be put on the industry - which is also producing T46A1 Assault Tanks in mass quantities - and it will not rapidly increase Ragnite usage: There is only a minor surplus of the latter, and overstretching this resource can have unwelcome consequences.
    [X] Plan: Rolling Zealots

Well, this was a pretty good turn over all. Now I ideally want to reduce the vote of no confidence to as low as possible so we aren't deadlocked and unable to pass anything in the Imperial Diet.

Looks like the No zealots plan won which is fair enough I'm honestly not too upset(I was fine with either or) about it and it's not like we can't still provide support to YPG from time to time as well.
Now I ideally want to reduce the vote of no confidence to as low as possible so we aren't deadlocked and unable to pass anything in the Imperial Diet.
The Vote is already at only a 50 percent chance of winning now one more turn of us whittling away support for it and then we'll be in the clear.

Well, that series of events took a number of our crises out back behind the shed and shot it dead.

We not only have a growing army building up around a new paradigm of waging war, but now the raw resources to actually supply its needs.

Such fortuitous events seem to be giving the YPG even more momentum than it started with.

The GNVP being split is also a welcome sign.

The vote of no confidence seems much less dire than before.

Aha, yeah! Sorry for the lack of a new turn, my things keep getting wiped for some reason!

It is tiring! But when writing in Word or in Googledocs it just never flows, so I always type here, and then it vanishes for some reason...

The Victor and the Vanguished - Interlude One
The Royal Observer - International Edition
Prime Minister Leyauld confirms: Withdrawal of the Valois Republic from the Atlantic Federation Complete

The Gardens of the Palace of Angouléme - Where the Valois government is seated
For more than two centuries the Valois Republic have been a valuable member of the Atlantic Federation as one of the founding members of the coalition of democratic states. As the first to feel the wrath of the East Europan Imperial Alliance in times of war, and the first to propose the creation of a West-Europan powerblock to stand against Imperialist ambitions in Europa in the 18th century, many had assumed that the presence of the Valois Republic in the Federation would be a fixture for many decades to come - an assumption that has now been shattered by the announcement of Valois Prime Minister Gervais Leyauld that has declared the complete withdrawal of the Valois Republic from the Atlantic Federation to be complete.
While relations between the member states of the Atlantic Federation and the Valois Republic have always been notably frosty, it has never descended into hostility or discussions about withdrawal from the coalition of democratic states before the events after the end of the Second Europan War. Political pundits have argued that the main reason for the Valois withdrawal has been the response of the Atlantic Federation in regards to the Klügeberg incident and the occupation of the western portion of the Kingdom of Germania: The Republic was heavily censured and barred from the Grand Tour tournament for three consecutive events for the former, and faced with a massive investor pull-out and economic sanctions and trade embargos for the latter, in effect almost crashing the economy of the Republic and from which it has not yet sufficiently recovered in the aftermath of these events, and a recent nationalistic revival has led to hostility against any perceived slight, whether real or imagined.

With the Valois Republic now standing alone in Europa and joining the United States of Vinland in the isolationist block, and a major influencer of anti-east Europan diplomacy and policy gone from Federation politics, it is expected that the Atlantic Federation will soon try to make inroads with existing and upcoming major powers in the Eastern Region - both in an effort to fill the hole caused by the Valois withdrawal, and to seek a peaceful resolution for the current issues plaguing the East-Europan region which have the potential to descend into a new era of bloodshed.

Reactions from the rest of the world have so far been muted and hostile, with the Republic of Chosen and it's benefactor, the Imperial State of Nihon-Ja, in particular responding by stationing a large number of military units on the border with Valois-occupied Tonkin.

[This does spell opportunity on the western borders and against the damnable Valois Republic. The western provinces - Hessia, Anhalt, and Coburg - can perhaps be reclaimed...
-Note from the Foreign Office, signed by the Ministry of the Reichswehr]

Kept you all waiting, huh? Next turn will be up soon, at maximum two to three days - options are almost all done, just need more filler text.

Hey an update glad to see this back again.
Prime Minister Leyauld confirms: Withdrawal of the Valois Republic from the Atlantic Federation Complete
Oohh Valois what wonderful news! Next we'll need to discuss the fact you have some squatters on our land that need to be removed!

Anyway this does change things for us both for better and worse. Better because Valois now stands alone for us worse cause if the Federation is trying to reach out to other nations in the east it may become harder to form a new alliance and start off round three(not that'll stop me of course!)

Also I thought the United States of Vinland was already part of the Federation did they leave as well here or merely going isolationist within the Federation.

I had an entire segment written up about the fact that the U.S.V Congress voted to leave the Atlantic Federation after the Valois were not expelled for certain actions, but it came off as too heavy-handed/hamfisted for my tastes. As such, I left the situation in limbo for now!

Ah ok situation in limbo at the moment fair enough perhaps a different "news" post for it later on would be best?
