To Struggle and Strive: The Combined Syndicates of America in 1932. A Kaiserreich Quest

I admit while I'm tempted by the "collective, democratic" stuff, I wonder whether or not that might not turn out the best.

Also, @notbirdofprey , will it be a direct gain to Butler, or will you mark it out as, like, sub-subordinates kinda thing? Since obviously the Procurement Commission isn't going to do non-procurement.
It will be a change to Butler's influence, with the bonuses represented as a trait.

[] [STAFF] Emphasize the staff as a collective, democratic, and revolutionary institution for a democratic and revolutionary military. This will impress the CAS, and the energy and diverse ideas of the staff will surely aid Butler greatly. However, official backing might lead to the clashes of personality and ambition among the staff into something uglier, and it's possible Waters could lose control of them in that case. (1 Influence committed, possible gain of CAS support from the more radical factions, Butler gains 2 Influence, diverse gain in bonuses, risk of increasing division in the staff, empowers the Staff as a collective organization).

[X] [PROCURE] They have the same authority as any other component of the CAS bureaucracy. (Commit 2 Influence, high chance of moderate loss of support in the CAS, Butler gains 4 Influence and significant logistics bonuses)

Edit:

[X] [STAFF] Emphasize Waters as the head of the staff and a man Butler trusts. His vague politics will lead some to question his loyalty, but his dedication on social issues will win him some plaudits, and he is undeniably a competent, intelligent man. Having the CAS invest additional authority in the man and the office will be a great boon to Butler's efforts, especially since it will mean he can corral the...occasionally spirited staff he shepherds. (2 Influence committed, possible loss of CAS support from the more radical factions, Butler gains 4 Influence and bonuses increase in bonuses, empowers the Chief of Staff as an office).

The police reforms look to have been impactful and I am glad to have taken them. Worrying about the navy action however...

Next month we should definitely take actions against reactionaries given the shot in the arm we just gave them.

[X] [PROCURE] They are an organic advisory group attached to the Red Guards organization as a whole. They can give suggestions to anyone but no commands of their own. (Commit 1 Influence, high chance of minor losses and small chance of moderate loss of support in the CAS, Butler gains 2 Influence and significant logistics bonuses)

I chose this procurement option mostly for flavor, since I think it honestly makes more sense to keep it attached to the Red Guards. Also no need to ruffle feathers more than we have to.

It should be noted that this combo doesn't fulfill our Mandate, which means we'll have to desperately do it next turn or fail it.

[X] [STAFF] Emphasize the internationalist nature of the venture. This will truly impress the CAS, even if it will annoy the most conservative elements of it and possibly embarrass the SyndIntern, but it won't set any dangerous precedents. It also won't risk dividing the staff, creating a Napoleon, or damaging your relationship with Butler. The only risk you can imagine is a leak. (2 Influence committed, possible gain of CAS support from the more radical factions, possible loss of support from the more conservative factions, risk of damage to popular appeal or SyndIntern relations, Butler gains 3 Influence and second-largest bonuses).

Really think we should go with Waters for the staff option, for it gives Butler 2 more influence than the collective staff. Losing support from the radicals isn't all that problematic, as we want to get rid of them as soon as we don't need them anyways, for they would corrupt our revolution into something that is dangerous for the workers. Also, we do not want division in our staff.

No we... don't? When did you think we did.

I just think that taking two different options that piss off parts of the CAS, including our actual base... like, because our base is partially the 'more radical' elements. They're not just Totalists or any of that garbage, and haven't been for a long time.

Maybe we can afford the hit, but it's going to make things very difficult for us.

I'm not actually that against the "Chief of Staff authority" stuff, honestly? But I don't think it makes sense to piss off the CAS even more than we'll be doing with our empowering of the Procurement Commission, and I have no intention of "purging radicals" because... no?
