Thor: Ragnarok

Oh. Well yeah, these are just action movies and will abide by action movie rule.

My bad for misunderstanding you.
No problem. I honestly think that Civil War had some problems with it, mainly with the silly "evil gubnent" garbage being imported from the comics in order to justify much of the story. Zemo only had to do, like, 2 things to kick off the whole deal, bomb the UN and trigger Bucky in the Police HQ. Everything else was every single agency and character going "What is the worst possible move/stance I could make at this time?" and then doing it.

Ross was pretty much a walking, talking Strawman. It's almost impressive.

But it's like I said, the movie feels like it's just Tony and Steve's personal problems but blown up. Iron Man is only doing this because he learns he killed one person. Steve ends up violenlly defending his position because he's worried about Bucky.

It's not really ideological for either of them, especially given what Stark does at the end.

I'm still wondering where the hell Betty went. MCU Betty was no Jennifer Connelly Betty but the character is still important.
That's what happens when you can't really make Hulk movies. Of course, then we have to wonder why Ross showed up and not Betty, but meh.

Iron Man's motivation at the start are to arrest/deal with Bucky because he supposedly bombed the UN. He then has to go after Cap and crew in order to cement his place within the Accords so that he can have some measure of control in steering the thing afterwards. I completely agree with his later reasons for wanting to kill Bucky.
At the end of the day, both Cap and Tony are wrong. Tony for buckling down way too hard, due to his previous trauma and accumulated guilt over the whole Ultron thing, and Cap for torpedoing any chance for the Initiative becoming anything more than Ross's goon squad, due to his paranoia from the revelations of Hydra and Tony's earlier betrayal.

Let's get back on topic everyone. This thread's for Thor, not Civil War.

#TeamTonyRightOrWrong

But seriously, I wonder how much of World War Hulk's plot they'll be using in this. Anyone think Hulk'll be space Jesus again?

It's nice that the film makers have finally remembered that the Hulk can actually talk and reason, and is a character in his own right rather than just a roaring brute.

Well, if you remember the big fight where Spidey and Ant-Man and everyone threw down, it was because they were trying to bring in Bucky, while Cap was trying to stop Zemo. Bucky was innocent so Cap was right to get him the hell away from fuckin' Thunderbolt Ross. I suppose Cap's side were wrong about Zemo but really, the fight was less ideological and more that Tony wanted to bring in an innocent man who was framed so he could be detained in Abu Ghraib Sea Prison for Supers.

Thank you, I'll check it out.

@Hulk Romance

Not being Jennifer Connelly's Betty is a plus given that her entire emotional range seemed to be "dull surprise."

Liv Tyler put in actual emotion and expression and so was in my opinion, a much better fit for Betty. She actually got angry and frustrated, she had things she liked a lot and things that ticked her off. Connelly felt like a slack jawed robot and I'm pretty sure was just phoning it in for the paycheck because she most definitely can act and act well, it's just that for whatever reason she decided to not really bother. Given that outside of Talbot and David Banner most characters in Ang Lee's hulk movie had serious issues with emoting I'm inclined to blame Ang Lee's choice of direction. On the other hand, said direction choice gave us the most literal case of chewing the scenery in film history. The entire movie is worth it to see Nick Nolte throwing a bizarre rant shouted at the top of his lungs while talking to Bruce and flailing his arms like a child and then biting on an Electric cable out of nowhere to juice up on San Francisco's entire electric grid; that is cinematic gold and must be treasured always.

That being said I'd love to see Liv Tyler return as Betty, she's one of the most interesting of the MCU's love interest characters and her Betty was also just a really sweet person in general.
