Thor: Ragnarok

It's a pretty well-received comic, both critically and sales wise. I like how they handled her.

So you saw no issue with Absorbing Man being knocked out by his own wife while he was fighting Jane and then allow Jane to punch her out as well as a freebie in the name of sisterhood? Or Mjolnir revealed as a mother storm of justice imprisoned by Odin into a hammer that was never truly meant for Thor and is so deeply bonded with Jane after a short time that Mjolnir turned itself on own accord into a clone of her so to get Jane out of some minor legal trouble with SHIELD? Or very recently, Jane being declared the best god in the universe after a contest with the Shi'ar Gods despite failing the actual tests?

Jane should've been like Thunderstrike, a struggling but noble attempt to live up to the job of Thunder God, not handed out cheap victories after another to emphasize she is better at being Thor then Thor ever was.

What's so great about Jane/Thor anyway?

She has a really enjoyable attitude, I find. Knowing that she's got a limited lifespan, she's got a very refreshing live-for-the-moment take on heroism.

Cool look. Does cool stuff with the hammer (rather than being as head-on as Thor Odinson, she often makes it fly around and such in a visually interesting manner). Has some pretty badass moments in her mortal form (which is undergoing chemo for cancer), works quite well with the team books she's in (which admittedly is where I read most of her) as well as crossovers with a lot of characters, that sort of thing.

It's not how I'd play it but it really doesn't seem like a big deal? She knows he has a lot of pride and the 'beat up by girl Thor' thing wouldn't go well for him.

That's already been done with Thunderstrike ... and I don't like all the stories, but as above, there's a lot of good stuff in there. She sells being Thor quite well, which is not something I'd have expected going in.

Advice that was given to me regarding Lady Thor: skip the first volume.

It gets more tolerable after that.

I'm glad I got out of comics when I did.

It's really not all comics, there have always been cringy ones and always been good ones. You just have to know where to look. It's more noticeably cringy when one of the Big 2 does it because they have the highest market share, but plenty of little companies have done that over the years.

Marvel and DC both have great comics still coming out, that aren't cringy, and they do have targeted comics that are cringy to some people. It's not an "all comics are bad" situation though.

I wish I was able to find/afford the Flintstones comics DC recently made, from what I understand they're masterpieces.

Its basically...

After two movies featuring her on screen and at least one movie (Age of Ultron) that has Thor fondly use her in a penis measuring contest with Tony, where they were happily together, breaking up off screen is a terrible terrible thing to do to the plot. It barely worked with Iron Man, who seems to be using absolutely everything he can to not think about her (and cameo in everyone elses movie)

Exactly, they could have just had Jane name dropped in Thor Ragnarok by Thor to Bruce, letting him know they're still together, that way Thor/Jane shippers are happy, and maybe have Valkyrie have a crush on Bruce, that way the Natasha/Bruce romance that nobody who saw Age Of Ultron liked, as it was too sudden and random, can be ended.

God, I hope Jane doesn't return. The forced romance subplot was a tumor in the body of both of the Thor films, mostly because Jane was such a blandly written character that I started getting Padme Amidala flashbacks every time Portman was on-screen.

Well, if Feige and Marvel Studios can turn Civil War into a great movie, they can certainly do Jane becoming Thor well :)

I would say this is false comparison because the Civil War movie bears no resemblance to the comic in any form. It's not about execution, the entire premise, ending and every notable event is different. The "war" amounted to one fight where Captain America was objectively right.

In any event, I didn't come in here for that.

Is Thor: Dark World as shit as some say? I presume I need to se it for this movie.

I would say not quite objectively so. There definitely needs to be some oversight to help with things like Ultron not happening, and to help with training to things like Scarlet Witch's accident don't happen.

It was mediocre. I wouldn't call it shit, it had some fun parts. It wasn't as schizophrenic as something like BvS, but it wasn't as good as the Avengers.

I hope Jane does return. I liked the Thor/Jane romance and felt it wasn't forced at all.

I didn't see Dark World, does Jane do much memorable stuff in it? I don't really remember much about her from the first movie besides that she was a scientist who studied the gates between places like Asgard and Earth.

She gets the magic thing of the movie, which turns out to be one of the Infinity Gems, fused with her somehow, but otherwise no.

You don't miss much aside from some good Loki/Thor banter.

Never saw any of the Thor movies before but this looks pretty good. I think I might just go see it when it comes out.

Yeah uh you and your relatives aren't "everyone" Ant, please try to keep some perspective.

I'm sure you can back up these assertions?

Ok I quite like the idea of Jane-Thor and what little I saw of Hammerless!Thor trying to find his way in life now that he lacks both Mjolnir and the mantle of "The Mighty Thor! Superhero!" to give him direction and just being "the god of heroes" now was interesting but that stuff just sounds fucking stupid -_-.

The Natasha Hulk thing was random in that it wasn't foreshadowed at all. The most interaction they had was Natasha going to Banner to have him brought in by Shield and later fleeing from Hulk during his rampage on board the helicarrier, neither of which were really romantic bar possibly some flirting Banner wasn't interested in. Otherwise Natasha had a professional relationship with Hawkeye and possibly romantic interest in Cap in the Winter Soldier movie. I don't remember the last one too well, but I remember it sparking a lot of Cap x Widow discussion.

Thank you, though I was actually focusing more on the "Oh so absolutely no one liked it?" part since Ant just seemed to be asserting that his preferred pairing was totally awesome and the bestest with nothing to back it up like the "Natasha/hulk sucks and noone likes it" statement.
