[KURT] Teleport Piledriver on top of Wrecker

Edit: Kurt could teleport Piledriver on top of Wrecker thus knocking them out or in human pile while we relying on luck to escape in time.

Kurt has some pretty severe matter limitations when it comes to teleporting with stuff. Especially a younger, less-trained Kurt. Wrecker and Piledriver are both pretty big guys. I'm not saying he can't do it, I'm just saying it won't be easy.

I deeply appreciate the ingenuity though!

Looks like we aren't really getting free so easily. Focus on his target first.

You extend your influence and concentrate on keeping Kurt safe from harm, keeping him from suffering any more of Piledriver's attacks. You hope it holds, because you see the labor with which he gets back to his feet and suffers a few breaths. You want to call out to him; to tell him to continue to try and get you free so you can take a more direct approach to helping him, or to escape, or... ... something! But you don't want Wrecker to retaliate, or be prepared for his assault. Your hopes are fulfilled as, despite his severe wounds from even that glancing blow, he's still moving under his own power and with defness and agility. He launches himself once again at Wrecker, this time landing both feet square to the back of his head! Wrecker lurches forward and loosens his grip on you, allowing you to squirm out of his grasp and fall to your knees on the floor.

Suddenly, Kitty enters the building by phasing through the back wall, just in time to see Piledriver swinging once again for Kurt. He misses cleanly as Kurt backflips away, and OBLITERATES an entire shelf of merchandise without a sound. The eerie sudden clash and clatter of items crumbling to the floor without a prompting bang of shelving falling apart still unnerves you, but at this point you're far more worried for the incredible destructive power of the gauntlets. Her mouth is open as though she had planned on speaking, but the sheer destruction catches the words in her throat. There's steel in her eyes as she determines a course of action and readies herself to take it. You know she's relatively safe for the moment as she had to have been close enough when you used your power to protect Kurt that she also was shielded by its influence, but once she jumps into the ruckus its unlikely she'll continue to be ignored.

OOC: You will notice a SLEW of new options in this post; I feel like I've been neglectful in laying out 'default'/obvious options in the past, so I'm going to try and give everything available to you. I also hope you've been enjoying the modicum of further control granted over your allies; not every ally will work like this in the future, but for the time being members of your squad make sense to function this way. You are unlikely to ever have the depth of knowledge of their skill sets, because that would take me a long time to write up and I frankly don't want to do it.

What I
did want to do, however, and did actually do is re-write the meta-introduction to this very thread; included with a more detailed breakdown of what a player can expect from this quest both content and mechanics-wise is an in-universe timeline of events, as well as a rubric for what MCU properties are canon and non-canon, and to what degree. I hope these tools are useful to you in the future. I've also made a little document for myself to keep track of the various quests and sidequests; this should help me present more interesting and actionable options for downtime activities that feel more relevant than previous ones, and remind the player base they have options to follow through on certain plots that have been brought up in the past.

Uh, guys...what skill checks are we expecting them to be making this turn? Based on the division of Precise effects I'm pretty sure attacks don't count.

Their attacks are already clumsy against you guys because of the last Tilt the Scales, so yes. Accurate. Making Wrecker's clumsy so he has a harder time escaping Kitty is smart, but there's no need to do so for Piledriver. Just a waste of Energy.

Um... how about
[X] [FORTUNE] Use Tilt the Scales to make Wrecker next skill check on this turn Clumsy.

[X] [FORTUNE] Attack Wrecker. Use a Stun dart

Because Stun Darts do this
Target takes reduced damage, but must pass a Stamina check of 13 or be Stunned for Vilina's Accuracy in turns. (3)
It takes advantage of Tilt the Scales to help maybe take Wrecker out for three turns. That eternity in Combat at time.

The other two should focus on Piledriver in the hopes that we succeed with Wrecker.

[X] [NIGHTCRAWLER] Keep Piledriver's attention, but stay out of melee range.

Jesus, I was tired last night. I meant to offer specific plans for the different options for the Wheel of Fate AND completely forgot we had Lucky Shot, even though I was looking at the sheet. lol

It was, like, 7 AM where I am and I was still up from the previous night. Please forgive.

You turn quickly and fire one of the stun darts from the Wheel of Fate into wrecker's abdomen. It sinks deep enough to stick, and hopefully deliver the payload. If he isn't somehow super-powered, one of the regular darts should take him down, but all the same you focus on the sedative coursing through his veins and him becoming drowsy... his body being too weak with all the exertion of combat to fight off the drug, or perhaps even adrenaline carrying it more quickly through his system. He looks down and pulls the dart from his stomach, tossing it to the side and glaring at you with renewed intensity.

"Awright, Glockenspeil, or... whatever the hell yer name is! I tried playin' nice, but I ain't playin' no more!" Wrecker swings his odd weapon overhead with force, but he stumbles, drops the tool and falls into a heap on the floor.

Behind him, Nightcrawler is teleporting small distances to keep Piledriver's attention, and the wild blonde is falling for it, swinging fist after super-powered fist at Kurt's head just a second before it disappears and shows back up a short distance away.

"Stay still, you furry freak!" With Piledriver sufficiently distracted, Kitty has the opening she needs to phase through the floor, reach up and grab Piledriver by the ankles and pull him down into the ground with her! "H-hey!" he shouts in surprise, "what da hell!?"

She releases him, stuck up to his elbows in concrete, then pads over to your side. "Don't wanna stick him too far down; he would suffocate if he couldn't force his lungs to move."

"You think that's far enough he can't use those gauntlets to get out?" you ask.

"We can hope," Nightcrawler comments, teleporting to the opposite side of Kitty and wrapping his arm around both of you. "Nice work, team!" he grins and gives you a thumbs up, prominent canines and yellow eyes giving him an oddly feline appearance.

"I take it you're OK, then?" you ask with a smile.

"Eh," Kurt grimaces, gingerly touching the place where the powered gauntlet made contact, "I've been hurt worse, but... I think I'll be taking it easy the rest of this weekend. That's for sure."

The three of you set about tying up Wrecker, keeping the tool in-sight and far out of his grasp. Eventually the Hero of Harlem, Alaris, and Quentin arrive, with the latter fairly out of breath. You explain the situation, and Mr. Cage nods, folding his arms over his chest.

"Good work. I'm sure this cast into sharp relief how useful Kid Omega's powers are for a team, and how difficult it can be without them."

"I mean, yeah," he's not wrong, "but 3i got help here as fast as it could."

"I'd have had a lot more peace of mind if I knew Fortune was safe," Quentin grumbles, "but it was... ... useful information to see how the rest of the school is forced to function. Makes me feel like we need to start recruiting more telepaths..."

The six of you commiserate and wait for the police together once they're called, but you can't help notice Jubilee's absence from the group. You delay a bit, assuming she walked nonchalantly to the pawn shop instead of rushing like everyone else, but by the time the police arrive and begin negotiating with Piledriver to tell Shadowcat how to unlock the gauntlets so she can disarm him and they can take him to the station safely your mind is spinning with worst-case-scenario concerns. You open up a private chat with her through 3i and shoot her a message.

Fortune
Hey. Are you OK out there? You didn't come running like everyone else. That's cool, everything turned out fine. I just wanna make sure you're OK. Do you need any help?

You wait a few moments, checking and re-checking your phone anxiously as Piledriver screams about knowing his rights as they cuff him and haul him out of the building, but there's no response. The 'delivered' tag hasn't even changed to 'seen'. You're probably making a mountain out of a molehill; Jubilee has never been talkative in the short time you've known her to the point that you didn't know she'd given you her code name and that her real name was 'Jubilation Lee' until you looked it up on 3i. Beside that, her face is so frequently buried in her personal phone you'd be surprised if she bothered checking her work phone. She may not even know you were in trouble in the first place. That's irresponsible and probably something that needs to be addressed, but your mind is more focused on her safety for now. Because all of these things could be true, or she could've run into something she couldn't handle and didn't have the time or foresight to message anyone about. You poise your thumbs to text her again, but Mr. Cage turns to the five of you and gestures for you to gather 'round with a wide grin.

"So, I've got something you guys might be into. Since the night's almost over for us anyhow, Detective Knight here offered to show y'all what happens when they take in a super-powered criminal we stop; how they're processed, what happens with the evidence, and so on. Don't feel like you have to, but I thought it'd be a cool learning experience for anyone who was down to check it out!"

"Oooh! I'm in!" agrees Kitty, excitedly.

"Me, too!" Kurt raises his hand.

"I think I'm gonna go back to the 'ol Philip J. Coulson Memorial Academy," grunts Quentin, "I'm exhausted from all that running. Thanks for the invite, though," he waves politely over Mr. Cage's shoulder at the detective in the red jacket, and she smiles back.

"Do you need an escort, Kid Omega?" asks Alaris.

"Eh... I wouldn't turn down someone to watch my back, sure."

What Do You Want To Do?
[ ] Go with Kitty, Luke Cage, and Kurt to the police station
[ ] Go with Quentin and Alaris back to the Academy
[ ] Go look around for Jubilee

All right! it worked.
Now we have a different problem. Negasonic Teenage Jubilee might be fine, or she might not, but I wouldn't feel like I was making an in character decision if I didn't vote to make sure. That said we are on like 3 energy after that fight, so better safe than sorry.
[X] Go look around for Jubilee
-[X] At the first sign of trouble Fortune should spend her last 3 energy to Tilt the Scales and add Jubilee into her Just lucky effect, or activate Lucky Shot, whichever seems more appropriate at the time.
--[X] Once she's done that, Fortune should immediately spend a Willpower to restore her Energy.

I think the willpower thing is standard operating procedure, but writing it out couldn't hurt.

I'm thinking we're not muchof a rescue party alone. Go with the group, then we all go search after

Vilina would know the booking would take a while. She could ask if others wanna go with her? But Jubilee might not react well if the whole group comes after her in Mom mode. Then again Jubilee might just have to get over that and learn to pick up her damn phone.
