On the one hand, exercise is important, on the other, look at our END.
Sleep now, get swole later.

"Hnnngh," is what you manage to respond to Gwen with. Sure. That's a word.

"Forgive her, darling, she's been out all night," Quentin puts a companionable arm around your shoulders and for the first time you aren't frustrated with him for it. "Kicking off college the old-fashioned way. None of this healthy Gen Z self-actualization nonsense for her!"

"Nughh. Sorry Gwen, I'm very tired. I'll catch up with you... uhhhh... soon."

"No worries," she smiles broadly, "get some rest. I'll see you later!"

You and Quentin shuffle off to room 3-F, and collapse into your respective beds. You're grateful you have all weekend to fix your internal clock because Monday morning... it begins.

OOC: Congratulations! You have finished Issue #001 of The Young Avengers Initiative! Tomorrow morning's post will begin a new issue, and start off with more super-heroing than we've been able to experience so far. That's right! It's NOT just a Marvel-themed Dumbing of Age quest! But before we get to that, I feel you've all earned some sort of upgrade, and with it a little context. First of all, you'll notice there are Attribute bonus options. Once your total number of Attribute points is 40, it will be way harder to gain new Attribute points. I'd like to keep the option open to gain +1 to an Attribute from your electives, so they might slow down before then when/if we fill out to 36 before the year's end. Or 37 before the end of the second year... etc., etc. Your upgrade options are also based largely around your choices for this issue. Bear that in mind in the future if you want to steer Vilina in a certain direction. Most of all, thank you all for participating in this so far! <3

Character Upgrade!

I would rather take a bonus to our powers rather than an attribute bonus and this would be an excellent opportunity to allow us to impact more major events.

If we're going to be doing more super-heroing, we need survivability first.
I want that other stuff also, but we should start with the thing that makes it so we last long enough to help in an actual conflict

The essence of heroism is Martyrdom against the unfair universe

This way if we know a fight is coming, we can make it more likely we'll win. Much better than the in fight bonus, since it's applicable elsewhere too.

Protection first. As heroes we're usually reacting to enemies, so this is more valuable than the prep up to smite enemy for now.

I don't want to outright say Vilina could never have this utility, but you guys are overreaching/misunderstanding a bit with what you think her powers could do so early on. This is not the first example I've seen, but since we're actually voting I figured I'd clarify.

Vilina's powers work best when her desired outcome is the next thing she directly experiences. Applications for this augment that make sense are things like "I hope traffic is light today" before she gets into a taxi or "I hope Kitty does well on her test" when the next time she sees Shadowcat she will have taken the test. Even "I hope the Morlocks win their fight" if she is aware the Morlocks are fighting and the battle will be over the next time she sees them. However, if she were to channel her energy into something like "I hope we win this battle" that effect will get interrupted/overridden by her influence over smaller events on the battlefield as they happen, simply because she can see and passively effect the smaller moving parts of the situation. Things like "I hope Rage wasn't seriously hurt" or "I hope Speedball can save those people" are specific and more urgent than the broad "I hope we win the fight" hours beforehand.

Let me know if that makes sense. I'm very tired. I'll edit these details into her character sheet when I'm not so tired.

Basically we aren't reality warpers. Hours before we can tilt the little factors a bit like Kitty stumbling on an obscure reference which will be helpful in the test, but we can't just up and wish people to be healthy after a fight. And of course very specific time sensible outcomes aren't just aligning for us. So if the villain aims his doom laser at one of our teammates we can't just wish an earthquake to happen which throws him off his aim.
However in case of a long prepared raid on the villain and his doom laser there could have been a mouse which bit through one of the wires.

Am I on the right track?
