The Valkyrior (MCU Thor/Worm)

Brunnhilda: Ahem [Death glare]

GU: (wilting) Ummmm, could I please use the name?

Brunnhilda smiles

GU goes by Valkyrie for her rebranding into a Hero. One would guess that Brunnhilda would take issue at that

Considering what GU does, I think Brunhilda might approve... so long as she signs up for the 6 week course and gets certified.

As my coworker is fond of saying "certified does not mean qualified." Usually in reference to fresh out of school mechanics, but works here too.

I kinda want to see the certification course now, proper horsemanship, proper weapon usage and of course operatic training,

Taylor: *casually wandering around Asgard when she spots someone vaguely familiar* ... ok, I'll bite. What are you doing here?
GU: Umm... IkindagotinductedintothenewProtectorateunderthenameValkyrieandnowBrunnhildawantsmetogothroug-
Taylor: WhOA, SLOW THE THE FUCK DOWN! Anyways, your advice sucked.
GU: *looks guilty*

Taylor: I've been through the training. It's not as bad as you think.
*later*
GU: You were right, it wasn't as bad as I thought. It was worse! :anger: *only looks adorable*

Something I'd love to see Omake wise is that when this is all done, is Taylor playing the Valkyrie for souls meeting Heroic ends in Earth Bet. Not as a duty post, persay, but it strikes me that there is only one person who has the right to shepherd the Soul of say Theo.

Maybe it'll be setting wise Taylor opted not to stay in Asguard and Brunnhilda calls her up asking her to be the one to ferry their souk. Or it'll be Taylor scouting for new talent for an expanded Valkyrie program.

Part of me enjoys the idea of Taylor play the role of recruiter for the Asguard given her own dubious issues with authority in her own life.

Of course there are certain souls that Taylor might ferry that should make for interesting conversations. Clockblocker for one would be stare incredulously at Taylor's new post. Legend, I think he survives post Golden Morning, would be another very interesting one. It's harder for me to see Fortuna dying a hero's death but wouldn't that make for a conversation?

Fortuna: How to die as a true hero.

To be frank, I've actually always been curious about the whole state of the world post Golden Morning, especially in the case of characters like Fortuna and Legend. Fortuna's story is one I'd love to see, especially since it seems that she's not relying on PtV at that point, so things are less certain in terms of outcomes.

I'm not entirely certain of the process the Asguard use when judging a Hero's death, but I think intentions and motivation play into it. Not to say those claimed are paragons of virtue, but it might be possible that someone choosing to fight and subsequently die in a set of cirumstances that approximates other fallen heros that were taken away by Valkyries in the hopes by chosen themself might invalidate themselves. Sort of a "you have to fight and die for a cause" rather than being in the fight because you enjoy killing or personal amusement.

it would also strike me as a appropriate that the Asguard's set of standards wouldn't be completely visible to the shards given that they are on their own plane.

Heimdall seems the sort to notice any spying or intrusion on his watch anyways, and as Gatekeeper one with the means to block it.

Clockblocker woke slowly. The first thing he became aware of was that his costume was dirty and ripped in the most attractive way possible without actually hindering function. Then, the rather solid and unyielding seat. "MMmrmrhrhhhh..." he groaned, finally noticing that almost his entire body was numb. "Whrhappnnn?" he asked, when he felt sure he could string a word or two together competently. Sadly he misjudged himself greatly.

"Oh, good, you're... kinda awake."

No.
Dear god please no.

Clockblocker finally managed to turn his head to look at the girl- no, woman- sitting next to him. He didn't know whether he should whimper in fear or sigh in relief. "Tayllerrr?" he mumbled, slowly regaining his motor skills.

She nodded. "Nice to see you again, Dennis." she grinned clapping him on the shoulder enthusiastically. "I thought you'd been lost forever when that 'Fairy Queen' nabbed you." she told him, before turning serious and muttering something about being forced to wait for the bitch to die first. "Anyways, welcome to Valhalla."

Dennis stared. "You're a Viking playgirl?" Taylor punched him in the face.

Nice to see this.

No idea on the MCU or standard Marvel continuity, but the original myth was Odin wanted as many competent headkickers and out and out killers as he could get to try and swing things his way at Ragnarok.
He didn't really care whether they were good or bad, just so long as they could fight and were willing to be bribed with unlimited feasting at night and a consequence free brawl every day.

Something else to keep in mind. Thor is a thousand years old'ish. Since there isn't a canon birthday for him I'm going with "he was an adult when they were a thing on Earth, but not by much" since the adoption of Loki was 960-something years ago. And this is where the legends were started.

So, Thor is seriously old by our standards and he's always been the one in Odin's eyes to take over when he retires or dies. What are the odds that Thor has never been to the negotiation table even once? I'm not saying he's any good at it or even well trained, but I doubt he doesn't know at least the basics.

Well... If you go with Comics, Asgard is reset with every Ragnarok. With that in mind, "how old this dude is" gets really weird... :D

Calling @Finbar for dodgy-GM plot analysis! Beware, Heather, those are not Buterflies, but Atlases! They do not cause hurricanes on the other side of the globe, they cause multiverse-wide sharknado epidemics! With a healthy side-dish of Robot T-Rex Tsunamis!

You called?

Sorry, havent been on much today, amazingly delicious family lunch at a high end restaurant.

Anyway....
