The Valkyrior (MCU Thor/Worm)

I have more faith in Phil's negotiating skills than lack of faith in Thor's

And when Thor meets Fury?

Thor: Thine eye-piece reminds me of my father's. Didst thou also cut out thine own eye to gain wisdom?
Fury: No, son, I lost it to the last motherfucker to start a fight round here, right before I tore his throat out with my teeth. Then I abseiled out of his fortified base carrying his beautiful mistress over my shoulder, right before the charges went off.
Thor: o_O

(I don't know exactly how Fury lost his eye, but I feel confident that this rendition gets the spirit right.)

Brumhilda and Thor...

Thor...

I see, so thats how things are going to go pear shaped. (nodds approvingly)

want proof positive she
EDIT: "Positive proof" sounds nicer, but apparently "proof positive" is fine too.
"We need a place where we won't be seen. Las Vegas isn't exactly far enough away."
Phil nodded. "Right. Big beam of light. I'll see what I can do."
"That's the one. Note the hammer. Hide your women."
He threw up a perfunctory smile at the two new visitors and whispered. "You owe me an explanation for that last shot."
These two need line breaks.

The sad thing is that it probably WAS meant as a gesture of good faith. Thor is Odin's heir, the next in line to the throne. Having him sent means that Odin is at least taking it seriously enough to not just send a random flunky. Brunhilda being sent could both be a comfort to Taylor and a second sign, as she's the first among his chosen.

Problem is, we as readers know Thor is NOT a subtle person. Yeah...

Basically Odin made a deal with the Celestials a thousand years ago. The upshot of it all was, he wasn't to go mucking about with Earth. No taking souls to Valhalla to become Einherjar, no visitations. That sort of thing. I don't know how he managed to bypass that to get Taylor, but he basically did an endrun around the restrictions by using a local to bring a message, and saying 'won't you please ask us to visit?'

Depending on how the agreement was phrased it was probably only MCU earth that was blocked from them.

And where did they discuss the agreement with the celestials?

That hasn't been introduced yet in this story (it's a spoiler). It's Comic-lore. However the Celestials have already been introduced in Guardians of the Galaxy. Nowhere, where the Collector lives and does business, is actually the head of a dead Celestial.

Well, that's an interesting twist, and a believable one. I guess Odin needed someone to send to Earth, and Taylor is, beyond meeting the 'being a mortal' requirement a decent candidate for valkirdom. Keeping her in the dark seems ruthless, but understandable - perhaps even a test of sorts. Although she could've created a far less advantageous first impression of Asgard than she would if she'd been told the score explicitly.

Main Problem? Only the Asgard spiders were capable of rune crafting. Common bugs would need to find a special knife, properly and precisely hold it and carve the runes with absolute perfection. Something that is a little hard even for Taylor.
If only she still had that cool Nanothorn knife.
Correction, it was working. Then Thor showed up.

Yeah... I can see this going very bad very fast.

Oh I knew about Nowhere I though that the celestial thing had been brought up in some side story for the MCU.

Maybe it's just me, but I got the impression that Odin didn't know much more than what was given in regards to his vision. They probably didn't even know if she was going to get in contact with anyone or just solo it out.

They still haven't explained anything about why they regularly travel to the other seven realms but never to Midgard for a thousand years. So, again, I'm filling an MCU plot hole.

Either way would have worked to his advantage.

Thor:
FTFY

I'm going to voice the dissent and predict that this meeting won't go badly. Thor's lack of subtlety, building on how Taylor has already played ball with Coulson by clearly laying things out, will be more advantageous than not. He still has some things to learn about humility and such, but that's not relevant here.

Erik Selvig; Professor of Theoretical Astrophysics at Culver University. He was brought in by Jane Foster in Puente Antiguo to help explain what's going on down there.

Timeline question, wasn't Erick brought in at the end of the first Thor movie? You know after Loki tried to show Odin that Thor wasn't ready to be king because he has no humility? What has Loki done to show Odin that...... Ohhhhhhhh.

Erick is currently working with Jane, not SHIELD, as it was at the start of Thor 1.

As for Thor himself, I understand a lot of his historical adventures sound like a weekend in Vegas. Why not send him along?

Oh god... your right...

Fear and Thor in Las Vegas
---

Coulson - I'm not sure this is a good idea.
Taylor - Definitely a bad idea.
Thor - Nonesense good friends! Heimdal assures me this, Vegas, place is a most entertaining location!
Brunehilda - Just go with it. When hes like this hes just like his father.

*6 Hours Later*

Thor - This amuses me... ANOTHER! *SMASH*
Coulson - *into his phone* Were gonna need another magic act pronto...
Taylor - I kind of expected him to go to a strip club. Who knew he liked cheap vegas magicians so much?
Brunehilde - Why do you think his father married Frigga? *Knowing Smirk*
Taylor - I assumed she was good at... Slight of hand.

*Ba-Dum-Tish*

Yeah, I don't see why everyone is forgetting that Thor - despite his faults - has been raised to take over for Odin. That involves being trained for things like this. In fact, this is probably something he's done a few times in the past.
Thor reacted to what he considered an act of war with poor judgement; this is quite obviously diplomacy, which is an entirely different beast (and it's also expected, and not interrupting his coronation [which makes it something of a personal insult to him], meaning plans can be made for him to follow).

Eric was brought to the facility Taylor was scouting after Thor 1, yes.
Notice how it says he was brought in by Jane Foster, who he was working with during Thor 1, and not SHIELD.

Why do I imagine Thor looking at the Pyramid thing (don't know the name of that hotel in Vegas) and commenting about a bunch of animal headed pansies who don't know how to make good mead and an obsession with piling up rocks...
