Can you stop being such a Debbie downer?

I literally already told you that you'll be able to try to find proof of legitimacy and propriety before you reveal the Starbolts.

I'm sorry if it came off that way, I was just describing the mechanics, which is to say that if shame never fades, then no subsequent discovery can mend this as far as Bokri is concerned. It might make it fit for public consumption, but in his own mind it will always eat at him.

But you can avoid future shame, or increase capacity

Never said we could not, but that is still not justifying, the best that I can understand the situation is that the only way you can make shame go away is inter-generational. So for instance Bokri eats the shame in his own mind, but then when the time to tell his kids about this he puts on a brave face and they don't get any shame since their father said it is not shameful.

i recommend a new action category for the ranger guild or if not that then atleast more intrigue actions thanks to opening of the ranger guild atleast as a alternative thanks to us having alot more rangers for tasks.

Unlocks Ranger Guild Mission: Assistance for Karak Eksfilaz.

Unlocks Ranger Guild Mission: Assistance for Karak Grom.

Unlocks Ranger Guild Mission: Train the Rangers of Karak Kaferkammaz.

Unlocks Ranger Guild Mission: The Fate of Karak Vlag.

Unlocks event chain: The Southern Vaults War

Intrigue Action: Find the Lost Laboratory.

Dont worry about the number of Ranger Guild missions for now. They're a lot simpler than clan missions. its a case of each mission needing a certain amount of Rangers, and you needing to spread them around.

*Slightly less internal screaming*

Visit to Kraka Drak becomes a guaranteed success if taken within two turns.

Ah, excellent. Something that will force us to take that action in the next turn or the one after. And it means we don't have to spend the 4k on it. Actually, will we get any benefit from spending the 4k on Formal embassy to Kraka Drak anyway Mayto? I could see it giving us additional bonuses on whatever we'd get but it might pointless considering it just lowered the chance of failure which the letter turned to 0 anyway.

Now, idea for a letter to boost our chances at the Estalia option:

[jk] Other - The Necrarch of Estalia: Greetings Sir/Madam. I am an Arabyan Prince reaching out to you as I have a fantastic trade deal for you. I just need you to send your current address to the Dwarf Hold of Karak Ornsk and I will be able to transfer vast sums of gold and exotic mystical knowledge! I look forward to your reply.

Ansgar, you beautiful bastard, you kept your dice from the last quest!
All it took was scaring our child to do it!

That's a lot of stuff to unpack.

Hmm, I would think magical cooperation with Elves prior to the War of Vengeance being a thing would have been an open secret?

This a CKII Dynasty / Succession game, not a single-player RPG inextricably tied to Bokri's life and fate.

If readers get particularly attached to Bokri, that's testimony to Mayto's writing skills, but from a dispassionate perspective Bokri himself is not the be-all and end-all of the quest.

We should treat the Shame meter as a resource to be judiciously used, not a taboo to be avoided at all costs.

That is to say, the optimal course of action would be to:

(a) Raise Galmur (or another, potentially more suitable, heir down the line) into maturity with an array of useful traits;

(b) Load up Bokri with all the Shameful actions that improve the Clan's power (e.g. Starbolt research, heretical Rune research, deepening the Clan's friendship with Teclis, assassinating Guildmasters that oppose our Ranger Guild, marrying one of our Clan members into the Everqueen's family);

(c) Have Bokri go Slayer once he reaches maximum Shame and pass the Thaneship with a clean slate to Galmur / Other Heir.

All in all other than the shame this has been a good. Rough outline of what I would like to take (not a plan because we do not know the costs) is as follows:

Diplo:
Norse dwarf diplo, because its a guarantee and it is free, we do not have many free diplo options
Vault hold trade, preferably a cheap one, because it is low hanging fruit and helps with the founding of our kingdom
Merge the Holds, that as a important milestone last turn and now that we have the tunnel we can do it

Martial
Deal with those orcs, because we did pledge to it and the sooner we clear them out the better
Get that clan adoption action done so we can replenish our numbers from the almost inevitable losses of the above

Stewardship:
Grab that Armorer clan, it is one of the few actions that does three things, gives us more pop and military, gets us more money and helps with the Soland situation by arming the people there. In that way they are better than the farmer clan and only 2K gold more expensive
Take one of the Soland Improvement actions that have been promised if we still have the cash, if not mine for wealth

Intrigue:
Sanctum of the Sneaks, I forget what that is called in Khazalid, it makes money and information
Get that Alchemy lore unhurried if the success chance does not look too low

Learning;
Research how to recycle Umgi coins, this is a rare learning action that makes money, we should take it
More bolt research, we are still net positive on shame after the last turn, I think is worth the risk

Runes
Pass this turn, he needs to make himself more limbs

Personal Actions
Finish off that one martial trait on our sheet that is at 2/3
Spend time with the kids, just in case the orcs get lucky again

Raising Glaumur
Teach the kid some engineering and some brewing, see if he has any interest or skill in either

Letters:
One to Magnus explaining our plans for Soland
The other to to friendly elector counts asking for support

Hmm, would the dwarfs have edited their records of Runecraft being combined with Wizardry, or just hid them ignored them?

I think it would have been the former, because they would probably not want to damage the works of their ancestors. They just wouldn't have publicised their existence, or read them.

So in theory, any old hold that had access to elves should have records of it... but good luck getting access to those records.
The obstacle might be less the longbeards that keep the archive (who are generations removed from those who know what the records contain), and more the fact that those scrolls are intentionally "forgotten".
And getting past that barrier while not giving a reason that gives away our shame will be tricky.

Wish we had Ermet Stonefoot to talk sense into those longbeards...

Alternatively, our original hold, which fell 150 years after the war of the beard ended might still have records of the collaboration. But of course, we have to hope the records had not already been destroyed over the course of the 600 year war, the fall of the hold, and 4000 years of Night goblin occupation, and that we still know how to open the archives.

I'm honestly not sure which one is the least accessible.

They are pretty similar.
That's intentional.

Well, a definitively good turn, but I would like to ask a couple of questions @Mayto

As thanks for your assistance. Guild Master Coppertwist, formerly opposed to your Clan and Guild, sent fifty Engineers and their attendants to dig the tunnel between Karak Ornsk and Karak Skarrenruf. The work was hard, but fuelled by a desire to repay their debt to you, they unleashed blasting charges and Black Water fuelled powered drilling machines that were technically still prototypes, to craft the tunnel between the two holds.

Holding: The Skarrenruf-Ornsk tunnel: A long tunnel wide enough for two carts to pass through the middle, with five Dawi marching on each side of the road. This tunnel was dug by Zhufbar's Engineers Guild using experimental digging tools in order to thank your Clan for saving their lower levels from the Skaven.
+1000 Trade Value

Zhufbar: 6/10

Slow to trust. The Dawi of Zhufbar are nevertheless deeply appreciative of you arriving unannounced to aid their Hold against destruction at the hands of the Skaven. They have stopped agitating against the Ranger Guild, and might even grow to support you.
Guild Master Coppertwist
First of all, since we are now on good terms with Zhufbar, it is possible to purchase again the Secret of Gunpowder next turn?

And finally, since we are digging a pretty big tunnel, are we going to roll to see if we find some useful ores?

Good to know...

@DragonParadox wouldn't be better to take Nitrate Extraction operation and/or Fruit trees and Apiaries ? Both actions are necessary if we want to get gunpowder weapons ASAP and just by themselves they give us valuable trade goods....

The only thing gunpowder unlocks by itself is marginal ranger improvement, I would rather have more dawi on the line from a new clan. We can do gunpowder next turn

Good idea. With the trees and nitrate we will have more trade goods. That, ontop of the fact we have more trade partners, should make us fuck loads of money.
