The Shut-In Cultivator (Isekai Xianxia)

I wonder how many people from his old sect will be shocked at his sudden growth in power? And I wonder if he will be vocal and spread the word of a great master hidden in the forest?

Could see some sects trying to take the house by force as well.

And how will the sect be organised? Cause I can see the sect members doing their best to find their master to thank them directly. Maybe they will all be equal under the master or have a council of submasters that help the newer recruits? Or maybe it will become more like fairy tail in that it has a master and a hidden master in mavis with everyone helping each other and organising each other based on strength and utility?

[The System has detected that you are taking care of a Cultivator. The System will assimilate every cultivators you guide and took care for to the System!]

[You have unlocked the Idle Sect Simulation. You will have a separate Qi income for the management of your sect, and the sect will progressively become better as the time passes!]

[You have unlocked the Sect Management function. You can now assign anyone you deemed worthy to be a disciple, elder, or any position available within your sect. Your whole territory will be considered a part of your sect, and will steadily improve overtime!]
Now this is something I think can be really fun exploring. There could be a 'power behind the throne' that they think she is with her hidden sect. A secret order that will (accidentally) usurp other sects. That might cause other powers and sects wage war on her.

Thanks~

They would need to find her first and I doubt they'll have much luck considering even her own disciple doesn't even know who she is or what she looks like.

Edit: Also, with each time someone manages to stumble into her territory, she'll crank up her security to a ludicrous degree.

Maybe they will come to believe that she is some friendly ascended being that has fallen from the heavens injured in a power struggle and is trying to recover from some kind of perminant injury/curse? Which would explain why it hides (the sight alone will kill a lesser being) and has so many rare items.

The guy's sect will think that he came across one of their sect elders who had retired to seclusion to try to recreate the original sword technique of their sect and sent him back with the manual.

Or add a section with greater security? So beginners will only be able to see the house by the river while the more experienced will see the house in the lake and the strongest in the world will be able to see the house at the bottom of the deep lake!

Would also be very difficult to get to them, the house by the lake can be walked to and is a peaceful place you can train in cause the dangerous areas can be easily avoided, the house on the lake needs you to travel through a lake infested with lots of powerful beasts so you need to be silent or powerful enough to reach the house, the house below the lake needs you to hold your breath while fighting off extremely powerful beasts for hours to get there.

Or at least that's what I'm thinking will happen, different areas with increasing difficulty in traveling to and perceiving altogether. But each area has a library with increasingly rarer books and manuels for cultivation alongside rarer and stronger ingredients.

This is just all kinds of fun. I wonder if she's going to "accidentally" start spawning world bosses or the like.

Chapter 11
Fan Ling was active early in the morning. He double checked his stuff within his dimensional pouch. He laid them on his bed for a moment, before he arranged them in an orderly manner. After that he put them back to his pouch.

He paused for a moment as he looked at the completed version of Viridian Sword Art. He gazed at it for a moment as a small smile formed on his lips. It only took a few minutes before he put the book to his dimensional pouch too and finally stood up and stretched his arms.

"Okay... it is time!"

He left the hut he had stayed for a few days and looked at it with a bit of longing. He really wanted to stay at this place, though he still had some unresolved grudges on the outside world. It would form heart demons within him if he didn't try to resolve it.

He cupped his hand and bowed his head on the direction where his master's house was located. He still couldn't enter the house because his master said so, and he felt regretful not being able to see his master at least once, but he didn't want to offend his master. His master was the greatest contributor on his life. His master was equal to his parents in his eyes.

So he paid respect to his master for one last time.

"I will be leaving now, Master!"

And then turned around to finally leave.

When I wake up, I noticed that Fan Ling's presence is gone. I casts invisibility on myself and walk towards the hut I provided to him to look. I don't see him there. Going to the training ground, I only see my essence clones still continuing their tireless research and training of my different skills.

I look at my event tab within the sect management section.

You disciple, Fan Ling, has left the (nameless) sect grounds.
Your disciple, Fan Ling, has fought a Foundation Establishment Demon Beast. He defeated them with Viridian Sword Art. (x3)

Uh... I see. So he has left awhile ago.

Well, the event tab says that he will leave to go back to his sect, so I think it's not that surprising. I hope that's the last guest I have to host.

Anyway, now that he is gone I can finally play with my pets!

This is great. I've been wanting to know more about my pets!

Though I said that, I actually don't know how I can play with an orb of light, or a literal rhinoceros!

I called out to Pochi, and the others followed suit. Even Sai and Kuro emerges from the monster ranch when I called to them. My taming ability made me know that my pets will always know I am calling to them regardless of where I am located.

Now that I am looking at them, I realized that my collection of pets are very weird. There is that literal moving ball of light, and the rhinoceros.

Pochi, Kuro, and Kon are all normal compared to Sai and Hikari. Well, a crow and a fox is not a common pet to have, but they are not unusual compared to a rhino and a literal moving ball of light.

How can I play with them? Pochi is happy so long as I play fetch with it!

I can't also play something normal. Crow might be small, but it is bigger than the normal crows I know from my past life. It's more chubbier than an owl if I try to compare it on the birds back on my world. Kon is the only one who has a normal size for a wolf. If not for it having three tails, I will say it is rare enough with it's silver fur alone.

They have been waiting for my word, and I don't want to just stand here thinking what to do for a long time.

Let's see... ah right, maybe this might be interesting to them?

"Let's go hunt some fish!"

With my weird capability to understand my pets, I somehow discerned them being excited. Hikari is bouncing around on the air, Sai made that noise that's a bit similar to a cow, Kuro just let out a quack above Sai's horn as it spreads it's wings, Kon let out a yip yip noise as it moves around in a circle, and Pochi's tail is wagging greatly even as it sits up and looks at me with it's tongue out.

Well if they want to fish, then I think we can do that!

I underestimated them...

Even with the weirdness from my pets, I still see them as someone who can only do normal things. I don't even think that Hikari can do anything in our fishing other than watch.

Surprisingly, they can do a lot!

Sai just jumped on the large pond-turned-sea, and then used some sort of technique that causes a lot of water to bursts up to the air. Kon, Pochi, and Kuro are swift on their movements as they catch the fishes that were thrown out of the air along with the huge amount of water.

As for Hikari. It pushes the water somehow with the use of it's Qi. I don't know how it can do that, but it can!

Their way of fishing is too flashy. Even my essence clones, which are nonexistent to my pets, have to move to another part of the sea because they can't reel in any fishes on this side with the chaos they've been causing here.

As for me, with the use of Aura Barrier and my new spell, Elemental Barrier, I can repel any water that comes on my way. It is still a bit hard to fish right now because they are doing a lot of things.

Good thing I have an earth grade fishing skill. If I just use a bit of my Qi to my hook and force an aspect in it, I can still catch any fishes I want even with the tempestuous ripples being done by my pets.

It is a bit hectic, but at least we are having fun. I can see Pochi and the others are helping each other and putting all the fish they caught into Kon's dimensional storage.

I think I have fun!

After that, I let them do their own thing once more as I take a few steps away from my territory and begin making some formations.

I did the bare minimum before Fan Ling enters here. It's just an alert formation and warding formation. Though these two formations are not enough anymore!

So the next thing I did is to add more formations around my territory. I have a lot of formations that can imprison any intruders that enters my place, and even formations that can kill them, but I don't have any intention of doing that to random strangers.

So instead of that, I make something else. Force teleport formation is just as it says. It forcefully teleports any uninvited people to a random place in this forest. Along with that is an anti-flight formation, which simply prevents anyone to fly above my formations.

For a bit more of security, I also made a teleportation repelling formation. As it says, it repels teleportation within my territory.

Now no one can fly here, no one can teleport accidentally here, and no one can stumble upon here even by accident!

I think this much is enough. Now no one will just suddenly enter my territory without my permission. I won't have to worry about strangers anymore!

This is true peace! I can do anything I want again!

A week later, my peaceful life has been disturbed again as something crashes into my roof. Fortunately my roof is sturdy enough that they just bounced off, but the sound of explosion alone made me jump in fright.

I look outside and saw who it is. It's a beautiful girl with a green robe made of high quality silk who is lying on the ground, bruised up and clutching a jade slip.

Already, my pets has come here in alert and are surrounding the girl. There is also a noise coming out of the jade slip.

... Really, how did this happen?

Short chapter for now.

Thank you for reading, and see you later everyone!~

The goddess may get the bright idea to send potential candidates for protagonist positions to our little hermit for training and just say to her peers that training the protagonists of her world is our hermits heavenly tribulation.

They would need to find her first and I doubt they'll have much luck considering even her own disciple doesn't even know who she is or what she looks like.

Edit: Also, with each time someone manages to stumble into her territory, she'll crank up her security to a ludicrous degree.
Outside Powers doesn't need to find her to wage war against where they think her influence is. It might become a reverse The Eminence in Shadow where MC accidentally gets disciples and sends them away. Her disciples think that everything she does is for a reason. Then they and the World's powers will try to come up with a reason. They can only look at what she's doing (hiding) and what her disciples is doing (protagonist stuff) to come up with an explanation.

It doesn't matter that she actually have no more reason that hiding. Then will look at the result of her actions or inaction where the mysterious master and their disciples' influence has been and conclude what her goal is based on that.

The world's powers might fight against each other because of her insidious influence with different factions. Then in the aftermath they will look that it was only she and her disciples that were unharmed. "Oh shit. That was an evil mastermind all along." This is just one of the maybe futures depending on how this sect thing goes.

Chapter 12
Yi Tianzhu was a genius female cultivator of her generation. Despite her origins being that from a mortal background, within three years since her admittance to the Moonlight Peak Sect, she had achieved the 2nd Core Formation Stage of her cultivation.

Though despite that, she was still met with many hardships. Moonlight Peak Sect was an all-females sect, and their main thing was achieving immortality with grace and elegancy. It was natural that many of the disciples there were sought after by the other cultivators outside their sect.

Many times she was almost taken captive. If not for her talent and cultivation level, she would already be a cultivation cauldron by those lecherous male. She also had problems with evil cultivators, and even fellow disciples who were jealous of her talent, fame, and position.

Yi Tianzhu always succeeded at surpassing those trials. She got to where she was because of her grit and determination. She was someone who doesn't surrender even if the odds were stacked against her favor.

All of her achievements was only possible because of one thing. It was the jade slip that her mother had given her before she passed away. It was their ancestral treasure, and at first she doesn't think much about it.

This jade slip was the reason how she stepped forth on the world of cultivators. It contained the soul remnant of their great great grandmother. Their name was Yi Sushang. A fallen immortal from the heavens.

It was discovered that Yi Tianzhu's cultivation roots was incredibly rare, and her karma was so high that she had a greater chance at becoming an immortal if she started cultivation. She also held the bloodline of an immortal being, which just further increased her value on the whole cultivation world.

With all of that factor, the soul remnant within the jade slip had awaken when she wore it. Since her awakening, Yi Sushang had decided to teach the girl about anything she knew in her life. Cultivation techniques, medical skills, dao spells, musical skills, combat skills, and many more. All of which was useful for a female cultivator like her.

Yi Sushang stated that she was more than ten thousand years old, and many things on the mortal realm had changed. So she was clueless about the world around her. Though her old knowledge about the world was useful enough that she managed to get some opportunities. Like finding a flower that only bloomed once every one hundred years, or finding some inheritances from ruined sects and empires from a long time ago.

All of this contributed to her life as a cultivator.

Though, regardless of her achievements, the heavens was truly cruel. A cultivator's life was filled with strife and suffering.

She was met with another crisis on her life, and this time it was from a demonic cultivator. It was a former member of a demonic cult which she destroyed with the help of her senior sisters and the knowledge of her ancestor. She thought they had been hunted to extinction, though it seemed like someone managed to escaped.

That evil cultivator emerged once more in front of her, and surprisingly he held an item that completely suppressed her. It was a Divine Grade Artifact that could form a suppression array towards those weaker than Peak Mahayana Cultivators.

She didn't know where he got that, though it suppressed her greatly. She was helpless against that artifact. If not for her ancestor using a hidden life-saving technique, she would have already been captured by him. Her fate would be worse than death.

Even when she escaped, it wasn't a fortunate thing. Due to forcing herself, Yi Sushang's soul remnant had significantly weakened. Her time was limited to a year now. If she tried to force another immortal technique, she would cease to exist.

Yi Tianzhu couldn't afford that, so instead of coming back to her sect, she decided to hide on the Green Cloud Region, a desolate region near where their sect was located. It was a region that lacked Qi veins, and other cultivation resources. Only three sects existed here, and all of them were lesser sects that she wouldn't even put her eyes on.

Though it was a perfect hiding spot for her. Gu Tianggu, the evil cultivator, knew that she was an inner sect disciple of the Moonlight Peak Sect. He would hunt her within there, and she wouldn't be able to forgive herself if her master was forced to use an immortal technique again.

Even if the sect had Spiritual Ascension Elders and Nascent Soul Core Disciples, she wasn't sure they would help her. Most of them had enmity against her, as she had beaten up their junior sisters. She didn't want to believe that someone would protect her when she was in a crisis.

"I can only rely on myself in this path I take!" She once again took the quote that her ancestor told her.

The world of cultivation was cruel. Even if they found brothers and sisters, dao companions, or even teachers, it would always end with them relying on themselves. Because the path to heaven was lonely. Only they could rise on the top.

So she flew with her treasured Treasured Ruby Sword on the direction of the Desolate Woods. A place so barren with Qi that encountering demon beasts was a rare thing. She had heard that this forest was part of a small sect called Viridian Sword Sect. Though she doesn't care. She was an inner sect disciple of the Moonlight Peak Sect. They couldn't do anything even if she entered here without permission.

Her thoughts were like that as she flew at speeds impossible for the human eye to follow. Her figure was like a flash of light. A ray that goes straight to a single direction.

She was still contemplating where she would hide when she suddenly felt a sense of weightlessness on her body. Her body that wasn't affected by the gravity and inertia suddenly became beholden on the laws of physics.

She was moving so fast, much faster than she could physically acted.

(NOO!)

She heard the scream of her ancestor within her jade slip, while she was dumbstruck. Instinctively she clutched on the jade slip that she wore as a necklace. Then before she thought of anything, she slowly realized that the view of a beautiful tiled roof was getting closer to her sight fast.

She closed her eyes, before she lost her consciousness. Her ruby sword fell somewhere on the pond, while she bounced off the roof and fell directly to the ground with a resounding explosion.

Yi Sushang's distressed voice resounded as she tried to wake up her descendant. Though she was knocked cold. It was impossible to wake her up.

(This is not good!)

With the divine senses that the soul remnant had, she quickly sensed the demon beasts that quickly surrounded her descendant. She became defensive as she growled angrily at these creatures.

(Who dares harm my descendant? Are you courting death!?)

She pushed her divine senses to the limit to watch them all. She wouldn't let them lay a finger on her descendant, even if it meant she ceased to exist.

Yi Tianzhu was the only descendant she had that was decent. Almost everyone from her line were trashes compared to Yi Tianzhu. She was the only one who could possibly rise the Yi Clan to prominence even on the Heavens. She was putting all her hope to this girl. She couldn't die yet.

She felt the demon beast's curiosity, and weirdly enough they weren't directing any hostile intent to her descendant. Though she wasn't convinced. She could still feel someone hidden with her divine senses.

(Are you still trying to hide? Do you think just because I'm a soul remnant, I can't sense you? Show yourself, coward!)

She actually barely noticed the presence. If not for this being getting closer, they would have slipped from her divine senses.

"I'm sorry!"

That hidden presence suddenly vanished after she heard those words. The voice behind it sounded incredibly beautiful. As if a shy fairy that got startled.

'Wait, is it a fairy that I sensed awhile ago?' Now Yi Sushang felt a bit ashamed. She was used to acting bossy and arrogant due to her stature. It was because it was the most effective way of scaring other cultivators, mostly if they had weaker cultivation.

This was normal for female cultivators. They acted cold or domineering to repel those who had malicious intent on them.

She was formerly a Heavenly Star Cultivator. So she knew a lot of things in life. She heard that there were solitary and pacifistic demon beasts on the mortal realm. She thought that the secretive presence might be related to that rumor.

(Wait... what do you plan on doing to my descendant?)

"... I don't mean any harm. I just want to heal her!" She heard that timid voice exclaimed on the distance.

Yi Sushang quickly tracked the voice and found out the general direction of that hidden presence. She could sense her cultivation level, and she shuddered for a bit as it was a Peak Mahayana Cultivator. One step away to become an immortal.

'If this one is hostile, I might have to use everything I have to take her along with me!' She thought grimly.

Normally, Mahayana Stage Cultivators were nothing but ants to her. Though now she was just a soul remnant. Her strength had degraded into the 9th Mahayana Stage. Her divine senses was limited to twenty meters, and she couldn't comprehend heavenly rules anymore.

Though, she was still confident that she could kill a Mahayana Stage Cultivator if she didn't care dying at the same time. She had many cards under her sleeves.

(I see. Then please do so... but if you dare do something else to my descendant, I swear I will curse your whole family to death!)

"Yes, I'll do it now!"

With that, she felt that hidden presence once more and this time their figure became a bit clearer to her divine senses. She felt her breath being taken away as she found the most beautiful being on the mortal world. This mysterious girl rivalled even the goddesses that she knew.

That mysterious girl who wore a peculiar outfit that hid most of her appearance stretched her palm and she felt the activation of a dao spell. A gentle Qi enveloped her descendant and mended the wounds and bruises that marred her skin.

It only took a short moment before she was fully recovered. At the same time that happened, the large wolf demon carried her descendant with it's teeth and led them to a hut just near the pond.

Yi Sushang was a bit tense when that happened, but as she didn't sense any hostile intent she let them do it even while she was incredibly wary.

It took awhile before her descendant was put on a very comfortable bed.

"Please take some rest. You can leave whenever you want..." That secretive beauty told them softly before her presence had fully vanished.

Yi Sushang was a bit dumbstruck. Even when she was moved by the beauty of the girl, she was still expecting something to happen. They actually left them alone after her rude remarks.

(... How peculiar?) Yi Sushang muttered.

Scary! That spiritual item is so scary!

What's with that aura? It's more than what I have!

I think that spirit might just kill me. My pets almost have the intent to pounce on the jade slip, but I managed to convey to them that they should be polite through hand signals. I just somehow knew it through my taming skill.

So it's true that I'm still useless despite having this much Qi. I think I should focus leveling myself up a bit more!

My Peak Grade Spirit Stone is more than half a million now. It gives me 100,000,000 Qi everytime I use it, so I can quickly achieve the next stage.

Without wasting any time, I open my Inventory and use a single peak grade spirit stone.

... It didn't raise my stage at all. What's wrong?

[Would you like to convert 100,000,000 Qi into 1 Immortal Qi?] (Accept/Reject)

... Oh. So I need 100,000,000 Qi to get an Immortal Qi. I see... I poke the accept option...

After I did that, my status screen suddenly shines brightly and then my stage turns into golden letters.

"... First Immortal Star...?"

Along with the realization that the naming of my level changes, I can also feel something. Rather, I think I felt this whole world is too small. It's like my eyes extends all over the world.

If I just close my eyes, I felt like I can quickly travel a thousand miles with just my thoughts alone. I can see many sceneries within my mind, and I can do it multiple times and simultaneously.

There is also something else I noticed. That terrifying spirit on that jade slip... I think I can handle it now?

... Uh, well I actually don't feel mad that it is rude. It might just be acting protectively. That spirit says she was it's descendant. I think I'll also go into a panic if my family member was in a dangerous situation.

I still don't want to meet with them. Preferably, I want them to leave as soon as possible. Maybe I should do what I did to Fan Ling so they will leave soon?

I'll just give them a book, and then they will leave sooner or later!

But for now, even if I have this strange confidence that I can deal with that spirit, I still have to level up a lot more. Let's see how much I need... to level... up...?

100,000 Immortal Qi!? Just for a single stage!?

What's with the sudden inflation!?

Am I actually going to use most of my peak grade spirit stones just to level up some?

I think with the amount of peak grade spirit stones I have, I can only rise my level up two or four times. I don't know how much it will increase if I level up, but if it follows the same as the one from the earlier stages, then it might just increase 100,000 Immortal Qi everytime I level up.

... It seems like I actually have to be patient for this...

There are many arrogant cultivators in Xianxia settings. Sometimes, the protagonist themselves, and their followers were the ones who are showing these annoying traits.

I decided to use that here. The fallen immortal spirit is obviously arrogant against anyone, except their descendant. I've read something like that in the past, but can't remember the title of the story really.

Well, many Xianxia stories has this kind of character. The arrogant to the others but good to their own kind of thing. I actually don't see the appeal of that kind of character, but I'll try writing that kind of character to see if it will show me just what's so interesting with it...

I hope you have fun reading this!~

Thank you for reading, and see you later everyone!~

P.S. This is such a minor spoiler that I might as well say it. Yes, the MC is at the immortal stage. And no, she defies the laws of this world that even when she reached the immortal stages, she wasn't forced up to the heaven. I hope this is not spoiler-y enough.

So the levelling is slowing down, though I wonder if the immortal spirit will have a heart attack when they meet up next and she realises how fast she's growing haha!

I hope she cooks again and get that misunderstanding cleared up. As for the arrogant granny, hope she changes her tone because she doesn't have much to be arrogant about with MC.

And I hope MC isn't a complete doormat.

For some reason, this scene came to my mind after reading Chapter 12.

Gu Tianggu (the evil cultivator): "I shall have my vengeance! And Yi Tianzhu's soul, too."
MC: "No way! She's my guest, I can't let you do that!" 'But I don't want to hurt anyone... Maybe something like a flashbang spell? I will overpower it just a little bit, so that it's more effective.'
[You used Holy Light: Searing Flames of Heavenly Retribution!]
Gu Tianggu: "My weakness! NOOOO!!" *Dies and then his ashes die too.*
MC: '...Oops.'
Yi Sushang: '...Note to myself: do not antagonize her.'

Chapter 13
4th Immortal Star Realm. That's how far I can achieve with my peak grade spirit stones. It's also impossible to upgrade this spirit stone, because this is the final grade. I look into it on my inventory and it says that there is no further upgrades on it.

Which means I am stuck waiting for my peak grade spirit stones to accumulate. I'm a bit nervous right now because I just encountered a stranger that has a higher cultivation stage than me.

If random strangers have cultivation levels like the Mahayana Stage, then that means there are many of them on this world. I don't feel confident at my strength anymore.

My decision to stay in this place is a good idea. If I go out there and travel around, I might just suddenly find myself in a precarious situation, and I might end up dead.

I'm not a protagonist material. I'm not creative with my cheat ability. So if I met with a little bit of hurdle, I'll immediately fall. There's no way I can survive out there.

So I should try and increase my cultivation a lot more. That's the only way I can comfortably live my shut-in life!

Talking about cultivation levels, I just realized why it is named Immortal Star Realm. I somehow can look within my metaphysical self, and I noticed that within this mysterious container of myself, I am forming bright stars around my spiritual core and cultivation roots. I don't know how I know that, I just knew when I look within myself.

It's like I am making my own universe within my body. What a weird way of leveling up...

Anyway, now that I am done using up my peak grade spirit stones, the next thing I have to do is to find a way how I can force them to leave. I think I kept repeating myself here, but I really felt uncomfortable having a stranger within my house.

I consider my whole territory as my house!

The first thing I thought of is making a book for them. Though I don't know if they will like any of the techniques I have from my repertoire. Fan Ling is fine because I managed to copy his technique by just asking my cheat ability, though I have to see the technique first before I can ask my cheat ability.

Like right now, I am asking my system about it, but it is asking me to elaborate what kind of technique. I don't know how I can elaborate when I don't even know what she can do. High tier abilities uses a large amount of Qi, so I have to be sure what I am learning before I commit to it. If I did it wrong, then I'll just embarrassed myself on that woman, and that spirit within that jade slip might threaten me again.

... I don't like being threatened...

So, loathed as I am to say this, I have to let them stay for a bit until that girl trains one of her technique. Then I can learn that technique by asking the System, and after that I can write it in a book and give that book to her.

I think that's a good plan. If that didn't work, I have to think of another way how I can force them to leave...

Yi Tianzhu gasped before she sat up in a start. She quickly checked her surroundings with a tense expression. Her eyes narrowed as she noticed that she was in an unfamiliar hut.

(Little Zhu, you are finally awake!)

The voice of her ancestor calmed her down. She touched her jade slip and took it close to her face as she spoke to it.

"Grand Ancestor Sushang. Where are we?" She asked as she glanced at her surroundings for a moment before returning her gaze at it.

(Be at ease. You are currently safe.) Her ancestor spoke reassuringly. (As for where we are, I have no idea. I don't recall having a half step immortal staying within this desolate region.)

"Half step immortal!?"

That meant it was a Peak Mahayana Stage Cultivator. The one that was close to stepping to the Immortal Realm. Immortal Realm was also known as the Heavens on the Mortal Realm. It was the goal of most mortal cultivators. To reach that part and to truly call themselves immortals.

She haven't heard of anyone who had reached the Mahayana Stage, much less the one who was close to being an immortal. Du Ming, the strongest cultivator on this whole continent, was only at the peak of Void Amalgamation Stage. As for Mahayana Stage Cultivators, one existed five hundred years ago. They had vanished after that.

Her ancestor said that this region was desolate since her time. An ancient cultivator of her time had used this whole region as nourishment to ascend to the heavens, but failed which cursed this whole region with barren energies from heaven and earth. Barely any decent cultivators would stay here.

"Are you saying...?"

(That's right Little Zhu. I managed to convince a Peak Mahayana Expert to shelter you for now.) She sounded confident that Yi Zhutian thought she was genuine about it. (You didn't have to worry about Gu Tianggu. This place is protected by many perfected Earth Grade Formations. He is just a 1st Core Formation Stage Cultivator. There is no way he can enter here!)

"Perfected Earth Grade Formations!?" She was surprised. This was the first time she heard of the perfected versions of Earth Grade Formations. At most, she only knew mastered versions.

(Don't be surprised. This is normal for Peak Mahayana Experts. Even I can do this. You will be able to achieve this level if you continue working hard on your cultivation studies!)

"This Little Zhu understands." She nodded.

(That's good.)

After that, they decided to leave the hut and looked around. Her ancestor's spirit had assured her that they could stay here, so she decided to look around and see if there was anything that could help her in her cultivation.

Her eyes quickly settled on the beautiful silver-furred wolf that laid comfortably besides the large sea. It had the same appearance as a Silver Forest Wolf, but the purity of it's bloodline was a lot that she felt tempted to hunt it.

"Can we take it?" She muttered.

(That's the pet of the expert. We can ask the expert when we found her.) Yi Sushang wasn't against the idea.

The wolf exuded high concentrations of Yin Qi. It was a suitable beast for her, whether as a beast mount or for assimilating it's blood and demon core to her cultivation.

She really wanted to take the wolf right now, and it seemed like the wolf demon noticed it as it quickly stood up and stared at her with it's tail and furs rising. She wasn't scared, and simply stared at it with obvious interest. The dog seemed to look up before it turned around and left them alone.

She wasn't scared. Even if it was releasing an aura of a Spiritual Ascension Stage, she was fearless. Her ancestor was with her, and she had many life-saving treasures and techniques under her sleeves. She was also taught not to show weakness against someone else, regardless of who or what they were.

So she was confident, even if she knew she couldn't defeat that wolf. She had the support of those stronger than her.

(Ignore that and look at the formations. Decrypting those formations will help you greatly on your comprehension skills!)

With the urging from her ancestor, she decided to put the topic of the silver wolf on the back of her mind and walked to the edge of this territory where the formations were located. The first time she looked at the ground, she became confused.

"... Where is it?"

She couldn't see the formation. Her ancestor told her that it was here, though there was nothing she could see even with her heightened perception.

(You can't see it?) Her ancestor was befuddled. She could sense it within her divine senses just fine.

"... Grand Ancestor Sushang. This one couldn't perceive the formations!"

(How could that be?) Yi Sushang tried to flare her divine senses and peered through the outside world.

With a cursory glance, she could sense it with her divine senses. Though now that she tried force her eyesight physically through her remnant spirit, she finally realized what she was talking about.

(I see... so that's why it is so potent. That expert has used the environment itself as a formation!)

"Environment!?"

(Look at the arrangements of the trees, the grasses, the flowers, and the dirt. It utilizes the Qi veins and the perfect alignments of each places to create a formation that couldn't be distinguished by the naked eye!) Her remnant soul within the jade slip nodded. (Now I knew why only I can sense it. You are still unaware of erecting formations through proper arrangements of things within an environment.)

"That's possible? I thought formations are only made through talismans, alchemy ingredients, and the right environment?"

(Those are the common way of doing things, but this one is superior. Formation is always about altering an environment into something else. You use other ingredients and talismans to put an effect that you desire, but those are inferior compared to exploiting the environment itself to cause a mysterious effect. It is why some forest and caves have mysterious formations within it, because they naturally formed due to the right placements within the formation. All they needed is a stable source of rich Qi, and everything will work!)

"... This Little Zhu can't understand. Why didn't you teach me about this formation technique?"

When she asked that out of confusion, she heard her ancestor scoffed.

(Because it's not practical!)

She tilted her head in wonder, which made her ancestor elaborate upon it.

(Can you carry a tree? Can you carry an entire forest?) She shook her head. (If not, you should forget about it! Formations are only useful if you can do it anywhere!)

"Then... should I still learn about this formation?"

(... Of course you do! What kind of cultivator are you if your not going to learn more things!?)

"Of course, this Little Zhu understands!"

Yi Zhutian was a bit affronted at being talked to like that, but she held it in. Her ancestor was always like this.

Though, she couldn't help but think her ancestor sounded a bit flustered there. It was a small part within her mind, and she shook that thought away, assuming that it was just her imagination.

'By the way, is it my imagination or is this place brimming with Qi?' That was another thing that made her curious, though she didn't want to ask her ancestor for now and decided to focus on studying the formations.

The Viridian Sword Sect was located near the Desolate Woods. It was on the Green Wind Mountain, which was one of the largest mountains within the Green Cloud Region.

The Viridian Sword Sect had five mountain peaks. The height of the peak indicated the strength of those who owned it. Only Elders owned the four lower peaks, while the highest one was the home of the sect master.

The second highest peak was called the Emerald Sword Peak. In this peak, a tall old man who wore lustrous white robes that breezed with the wind stood on top of the rooftops. His eyes that still held a lot of vitality gazed at the distant ground below in contemplation.

'To think that a promising student will fall like that... such a shame...'

Fan Ling was one of the greatest student he had taught. If not for his slow cultivation speed, he would soar high in this world, and compete against proper sects outside this desolate regions. His comprehension speed was absurd, that this old man always tried to support him.

He still recalled the day when he discovered it. He wasn't a part of the sect activities at that time, so he just learned about it after Zhou Wang came back with the strong smell of blood. The Qi signature was faint, but was still familiar to him as he always meet up with Fan Ling every week.

He had decided to condemn Zhou Wang, and kicked him out of the sect. A disciple who would stab a friend on their back wasn't allowed on the Viridian Sword Sect. This was a righteous sect, and they must uphold proper discipline and good morals if they wanted to be part of this sect.

Deaths might be common on their world, but they must still upheld their values or they won't be different to evil cultivators.

"Truly, the heavens is cruel..." He shook his head with a sigh, when he perked up as he suddenly sensed a familiar presence.

Quickly he jumped from his position, and released his sword. The sword stopped midway in the air, before he landed on it with his two feet. Then it moved like a ray of light. Quickly arriving at the empty courtyard where he sensed that familiar presence.

As he got there, his confusion quickly turned into excitement as he saw the familiar face of his favorite disciple.

"Young Ling, you're alive!"

Fan Ling, the one he considered was dead, looked at him casually before he quickly cupped his hands and bowed to him.

"Greetings to the Emerald Sword Elder!" The Elder wanted to quickly speak, but was stopped as Fan Ling was faster. "I apologize, but this Fan Ling wanted to show the elder something!"

"... What's so important than returning alive?"

"Elder! I have a fortuitous encounter within the Desolate Woods and have met my true master! That hidden expert is truly mysterious!" Fan Ling immediately patted his side where his three swords were sheathed. "This three sword artifacts were gifted to me by my Master!"

The Emerald Sword Elder glanced at the swords for a moment before he stopped, and completely focused on them. His eyes were wide like pinpricks, as his body shook.

"E-earth grade sword artifacts!?"

"That's not all. I also learned the completed version of Viridian Sword Art. Watch my Willow Cutting Blade!" He immediately said as he seamlessly unsheathed his beautiful white sword and took a stance to the side.

A beautiful arc was made as he swung the sword, and a strong sword Qi slashed through the air and hit the wall. It created a sword mark on the brick wall, despite him being several meters away from it.

"Superior State of Viridian Sword Art!?" That almost gave him a heart attack. Even the sect master only reached the Mastered State. The Superior State was one grade higher than that.

And he noticed something else.

"You're at the 1st Qi Condensation Stage!?" He was surprised. That surprised turned into excitement. "Great! I can finally take you to the Emerald Sword Peak!"

To become an Inner Sect Disciple, they have to meet two requirements. First they had to reached the 1st Qi Condensation Stage, and the next was being chosen by an Elder of a peak to be a disciple within it. That was how they could become an Inner Sect Disciple.

Core Disciples were directly chosen by the Sect Master. Cultivators at the age of 18 to 25 had to reach the Core Formation Stage if they wanted to be chosen as Core Disciples.

He knew how Fan Ling wanted to be an inner sect disciple. He had worked hard for three years just to achieved that. So he wasn't expecting him to reject him.

That was why he gawked in shock when Fan Ling shook his head and he cupped his hands.

"I am honored by your words, but I have to decline. I have decided that my fate is to be a student of the great master! I only came here today to resolve a grudge that I have!"

He was speechless. Fan Ling was the one who always said that he wanted to be an inner sect disciple, though now he was rejecting it. He felt a bit heartbroken.

Though his eyes quickly turned serious when he heard his words, and he felt a bit ashamed at that. He knew how grudges went between cultivators. They always had to resolve it or heart demons would form on their mind, and that would potentially cripple them if they tried to cultivate.

So, even with a lot of questions in his mind like that mysterious expert, where he learned that technique, those sword artifacts, or the fact that he rejected his offer to turn him into an inner sect disciple, he decided to focus on the problem at hand first.

"I apologize Young Ling, but Zhou Wang was already kicked out of the sect. It's been a week since I personally kicked him out..."

"What!?" Fan Ling's eyes were wide.

The Emerald Sword Elder felt like he had to apologize to the young man. It seemed like he did something unnecessary, even if it was the natural thing to do.

I think I am feeling burned out writing everyday, because the words are not just coming to me even though I know what I want to see in a chapter. This might also affect the quality of this chapter.

It's a bit of a good thing that this story is just experimental on my part. I can just write whatever without any plans...

Anyway, I don't know if I am missing any details when I write here, but essentially Yi Zhutian was heavily influenced by her ancestor. The way she acted was just because her ancestor told her it is right.

So you will find that she acted like a typical Xianxia protag where they think they can get away with anything. Like wanting a demon beast that is definitely not hers, and thinking the other party will agree, or that snooping around without waiting for permission is a good thing just because someone said so, or they think it is a good idea.

Most xianxia stories I read have this kind of protagonist where they acted as if any dubious thing they did is justifiable and definitely right. I actually abhor those kind of stories where the MC just did something obviously wrong, and the author is somehow creating a narrative to make them look right.

Like humiliating a shopkeeper just because they weren't given preferential treatment like the others who are obviously known on that place, raping a girl with a reason that it will "save" her, ransacking a place of a good-natured immortal and somehow mouthing off of them as naive or something like it is the most natural thing to do, and many more.

I hope I managed to portray that even with my obvious disgust to that kind of trope. I still don't have any plans other than what was written here, but I am slowly forming it within my mind.

Sorry for the long delay on this chapter too and I hope you have fun!~

Thank you for reading this, and see you later everyone!~
