Okay first.

I WAS frikkin RIGHT LYING (or really not telling her, but semantics) WAS THE RIGHT OPTION!

Excuse me while I laugh. teheheheheheheh.

Calmed down. Anywho, we should take him with us. Frankly, relying on Naruto to help handle Neji's problems is a cop out. This is something we have to deal with, not leave to a stranger. I say we convince him to go later to apologize, at the very least.

I don't know common quest formats enough to judge Crilltic

[X] Try to convince Neji to come with you to see Hinata.

Let's try and stick a needle into the jerk balloon.

Doing a system swap sounds like a lot of time, stress, and hassle for relatively little gain. Usually is, in my opinion, and a good way to end up frustrated with the behind-the-scenes work and burnt out.

And frankly, if people are bothered that something with explicit Exalted tags is being played like, (and here's the real shocker) an Exalted game...well, I don't know what to say. It's not like they didn't know that coming in, after all. Kinda like complaining that your swimming pool is wet, really.
I have no idea what either of those are, and I feel staying with a system closer to Exalted is preferable.
I should probably clarify more what I have in mind. In my mind, stat sheets in Quests basically serve as a tool for the players (and QM, but to a lesser extent) to get a conceptualization of what the PC can and cannot do. AKA something people can look at and go "okay, Tenten is great at this, okay at this, mediocre here and bad at this" and then ideally devise a plan fitting to her strengths and avoiding her weaknesses. The actual conflict resolution mechanics aren't nearly as important to the narrative.

Also, to give people an example of what I have in mind. Here is the stat ranking system from Number None (which is a Bleach quest). Basic idea is each skill has a number of ranks to represent the PCs skill. There are no dice rolls or exact stats, it's just more a measure of "how good is this person"
  • Incapable - Not technically a level as such, this will only show up on a character sheet in the rare event that some circumstance makes it utterly impossible for you to learn or use a particular skill.
  • Untrained - This represents the baseline, what you can accomplish without any focused training.
  • Student (100xp) - Having received some basic training in the skill in question, you have started down the long road to mastery. For humans and shinigamis, this level almost always requires that someone specifically educate you in the skill in question, though future improvements can be attained through solo practice. Many Hollows are born with such innate ability, however.
  • Adept (200xp) - You have supplemented your initial lessons with hard-won experience, and can now employ the skill with considerable confidence. This level is considered 'average' for an unranked shinigami, and is the baseline skill level of most "natural" Arrancars.
  • Skilled (400xp) - Your proficiency with the skill is worthy of note among the ranks of spirits. Seated officers of the Gotei 13 will virtually always have at least one skill at this rank, increasing as they climb in status. "Artificial" Arrancars typically have this as their baseline level, showing their inborn superiority.
  • Veteran (800xp) - Such levels of powers are noteworthy among the ranks of Aizen's armies, and Arrancars showcasing such power are often recruited as Fraccion by the powerful Espada.
  • Master (1600xp) - You are truly a force to be reckoned with, and others will seek you out for advice and guidance in improving their own skills to a similar level. This level of fundational skill is typical of shinigami Captain and Espada.
  • Champion (2400xp) - Your skill is awe-inspiring, capable of sweeping aside those of lesser worth with minimal effort. Most Espada and shinigami Captains hold this rank in their areas of individual focus.
  • Legendary (3200xp) - You have reached the absolute pinnacle of what is possible for this skill, and any future improvements will be of the tiniest increment at best. Perhaps one person in all of Las Noches has such proficiency.
It's a system I definitely see the draw of (and frankly kind of wish I had gone with from the beginning to avoid all this hassle). It'd be transitioning from a rules heavy setting to a more narrative-focused questing experience, though on your end it'd feel exactly the same given I only do rolls behind the scenes. I'd also like to make thisclear it isn't happening just because some people complained, it's something I've been thinking about for awhile. However, the reason I'm leery is because people have introduced considerable effort into boosting Tenten's abilities through omake and fanart, and not all of that would 1-to-1 translate between the two things I'm considering.

Which is why I decided to bring it to you guys, since your enjoyment of the game matters a lot obviously, and I wouldn't want people to get upset because I changed something unilaterally out of the blue. So I decided to bring what I'm planning to you guys, and get your feedback on how best to accomplish what I want to do.

To be honest, while I personally like both systems well, I agree with the idea that the current system is part of the Exalted flavor to this quest, and works better for it.
Now if you find working with it is stressful and/or outright untenable (and things like dropping rolls in favor of using her stats as a baseline for what she should be able to do, similar to the Feats of Strength / Nobilis narrative-ish method do not work for you either), then of course that's your prerogative as QM, and should feel free to do it - I think I can speak for all of us when I say a Quest with another system is better than no quest at all.

I mean, I'd obviously make an effort to keep the Exalted flavor and do my own thing, not just port over their system with ninja-terms replacing the random spanish words. So I'd hope no one thinks I'm going to do that. I do completely understand the appeal of having the Exalted system in an Exalted Quest. (Though Real Talk (even if I'm sure most of you have realized this by now): I don't actually use the entire breadth of the Exalted system. If I did I'd probably have burned out within an update), and either way that's something I'm going to do my utmost to preserve. Even if it does mean not moving to a new system.

The other angle is of course that a big portion of my issues come from trying to mesh Naruto stuff here with Exalted mechanics, and as you can tell from my numerous revisions to the Chakra system it's something I'm still iffy. And I would be lying if I said the fact that this would basically fix all of those issues immediately does not appeal to me.
Thats Maugen Ras. Number none used Stand in Awes stat system.
I am aware, but I had Number None open and I don't follow WSiA. Sue me.

I do prefer Exalted for this, mostly because we're going to have the problems anyway, and that translating vaguely defined narrative techniques into the fairly accomodating exalted system is easier than translating exalted mechanics AND Naruto mechanics into an abstract tracker.

Yeah, I gotta say I actually really like the exalted mechanics. Dunno why, but I don't know about switching over.

Go for it, honestly having looked at both systems, I know that system you're proposing is likely a hell of a lot more easy to track and integrate things into. The best thing about this quest is pretty much the writing anyways, and frankly the system you're proposing caters a lot more to freer narrative than the current system seems to.

And frankly, my biggest reason is that you honestly seem to want to change to the new system. If that's the case, do it. I'll take a QM that's actually happy with the system over a specific set of mechanics any day of the week.

*Insert Exalted Purity Commentary here* *Insert Commentary on how GM is horrible here* *Salt Salt Salt* *Storms out of quest with 10 infractions incoming*

:V

White wolf's system has it's issues, like 1-5 being drooling idiot to once in a thousand years genius, but it just kind of clicks for me. I like dice pools, a lot. I think they work a hell of a lot better than 1dX+Y type systems, but we're going to a full narrative system with the proposed switch so... eh.

The new proposed system is more or less just using a different form of dots anyway. To me it's less clear because you can't look at the split between how strong/fast/smart/whatever you are and your skill at applying them.
