Well, there goes the outer solar system. Pity, it could still have been some use.

Because she should have the broadest field of view, being an AI connected with all the fleet sensors, and at the same time she should have no way of knowing if Amanda is ok.
If you wanted broadest field of view you would be voting Vision.
Literally her job.
Iris is currently on Lina's flagship, which puts her close to the action but away from the sensors that Vision has available.

Hun, I hadn't expected a Babylon 5 comparison. Though the Ori one is a bit odd, since the ori were more about religious worship. where do you get the comparison tor that uju?
The Ori enforce a rigid order, test their victims for compliance, exact a tribute in worship, and are ever expansionist.
The Shiplords enforce laws, test their victims for compliance, exact a tribute in souls, and are ever expansionist.
Both even use plagues; the Ori use them as punishment, the Shiplords as bodyjacking tools.

And both are being defeated by a soulfuckery weapon; in the case of the SLs, Practice and Unisonbound, in the case of the Ori, the Sangraal.

Ah, I see your train of thought. I didn't remember all the Ori details, so that clears that up. Thanks!

Are we supposed to know whose perspective THIS is? And who or what is input overloading?

I'm half tempted to assume that this implies a simulationist world and we just overflowed a variable on the computer running the simulation

That is the pov of Kalilah EDIT: (and possibly Amanda) in the Nexus of the Shiplord attack on the 223. As Snowfire said earlier, this was what was Kalilah's power essentially going Nova. (not a true nova)

Seriously, a normal human perspective, but also the perspective of the commander in chief of the battle, who has the whole thing riding on her shoulders? Yes please.

Going to have to deny this one, sorry.
Not least because a Shiplord perspective on what's happening would just be about a hundred paragraphs of enraged gibberish. :V

But the nature of the Ori was that they were Ascended beings that essentially pulled a collective version of Annubis, descending halfway so that they could use the belief of physical beings to empower themselves. The Shiplords don't seem to have that intimate a relationship with whatever plane the Uninvolved (and, more than likely, the Dragons) are on. If there is an Ori in the Practice War, then the Shiplords are more likely something like the Priors: artificially evolved, wholly physical agents of whatever the PW version of the Ori would be called.

This perspective is denied, I'm afraid.

That was me trying to format the dice roll that theoretically happened when Kalilah let go of all the power she'd been gathering.

Like all dice roll lines, it is an abstraction of chance finding a place in reality. And it's one that's shown to give you, the questers, an idea of what's happening there. In this case, Kalilah effectively rolled a Yes due to massive overdraw.

Iris is currently on Lina's flagship, which puts her close to the action but away from the sensors that Vision has available.

Not really. She's got access to those sensors too. She's just more emotional about it than Vision is right now.

Who are the Shadows?

In months and years to come you'd wonder if you could have done anything else. But every time you did, it always came down to the same thing: who Amanda Hawk truly was. You'd been a leader, a mother, a teacher, and always a friend. But when it came right down to it, at the very core of your reality, Mending was only the term you'd felt closest to what defined you.
This retrospective perspective seems to indicate, that Amanda will survive to remember this. As in, survive the TBOS.
"Together." You never knew how you said them so fast, or how she understood. "Like we should be." You pulled the whirling nexus of power still racing around you closer, forming it into a solid shell that was alike to an Aegis born of ten billion souls. Your own strength raced down, deep into Kalilah's soul, where fire and destruction raged.

You didn't try to put those fires out, you didn't think you could have. Instead, you wrapped your own soul around those parts of hers that were now aflame, to protect them. She jerked suddenly in your grip, her eyes wide as she sensed what you were doing. And you found the link between you as clasped hands started to slip.

:No one left behind. Not today.: Concepts without words, but words were all that could describe them. Soothing, gentle, and spoken as only family could.
Speaking of what she did. My guess is Amanda applied her Mending directly to Kalilah's soul, to restore it as much as possible even as it was going up in flames. Whether that was in any way sufficient to counteract the pyre of Death Nuke, remains to be seen.

Her hands opened. And-

Can I just say that I'm really glad that this vote worked for people. Going into this I knew I just wanted to end the section on the event itself, anything more felt wrong. But at the same time, I wanted to give you something so that it wasn't just a case of my throwing a cliffhanger at you.

This tied back in my head to the SBOS, where I shifted perspective several times across updates. So I thought, hey, why not? That you've gotten engaged in that process - or at least it feels like you have - is intensely gratifying. I just hope I can deliver!

Spectacular update, Snowfire.

You've managed so far - take the time you need.

Who are the Shadows?

The Shadows were one of two older races still mucking things up in Babylon 5.

The Vorlons and Shadows stayed behind to guide the younger races, but differences between the two led them to turn the newcomers into combatants as they debated whether order or chaos were better.

Their ship design was distinctive, being shiny black spiked ships with the ability to ripple in and out of higher dimensions.

Alright, I think we've got enough to call this. And for me to have worked out how it's going to take shape as well.

Who are the Shadows?
The Neras.
Shifty little(figuratuvely; at fifteen kilometers long they're pretty big) mushroom people who take no direct action but are always available to provide avenues to facilitate plotting by the Tribute Races.

If the Shiplords represent the Vorlons as agents of Order, the Neras are pretty evidently agents of Chaos.
