The Power and the Throne: The quest of an evil queen

[X] a necromancy lab (1000 gold to rebuild 4 weeks to rebuild to rebuild 100 gold a month maintenance)
[X] There seem to be some tunnels to an old catacomb that I'd like to check out (500 gold to clear)
[X] The bodies of the dead (2 weeks)

I'm developing a theme here.

[X] We could also move the ritual chamber down, it'd be easier to conceal if someone searches the house. (200 gold)

[X] Munira is probably going out, join her in disguise

This seems the most Shakespearean option.

I'm torn. On one hand, we could be the evil poisoner, on the other hand, we can raise hordes of undead, that we can then heroically vanquish.

[X] Increasing security in the keep by rebuilding the internal doors and the like would be fairly easy (500 gold)

The library is very tempting, though.

Caroline: We could also rebuild the keep itself

Second one only if we can do two things.

[X] The Fallen Lord (4 weeks)

We just put this thing in a bottle. We might want to know what we've got in there.

[X] Munira is probably going out, join her in disguise

Sneaking about in disguise feels in character...

We might want to spend more on upgrading the keep then. Most options don't have recurring expenses. And you can't be an evil overlord without a secret, well defended, underground, base.

Evil Queen, may as well embrace it. Reanimate our dead enemies to swell our ranks.

Please consider voting for this option. We can take as many as we can afford, and this is quite cheap.

We don't want anyone to discover our dark ritual chamber.

New Research: [X] The Fallen Lord (4 weeks)

The Evening: (Tie Break) [X] Go out with Munira

Act 1: Scene 9: The City By Night

Munira
waits at one of the smaller doors out of the compound. She wears a short dress and long boots, both in blue and is playing with a pair of cloth collars. Viona appears, similarly dressed, but in Red.

Munira: I thought you might come.

Viona: And I thought you might wait.

Munira: It's been awhile since we went out together. I thought you might be restless.

Munira hands over a collar, and fastens the other one. Her skin bleaches and her hair lightens, leaving her looking much like any other resident of the city. Viona takes hers and becomes a black haired woman with somewhat more tanned skin.

Viona: Indeed, and what is your plan for tonight?

Munira: There's a certain place I wish to see inside, a haven for adventurers and rapscallions, but it serves good food, cheap ale, and apparently, fine entertainment.

Viona follows her out of the gate and into the streets, which are lit by small magical lanterns. There's still a fair amount of traffic, even though the sun is setting. Music can be heard playing, and various groups of revelers wander the streets. Despite this, the merriment seems a little forced, as if everyone is making themselves smile.

Viona (To the audience): This city cannot stop partying, even in the most extremis.

Munira leads Viona down towards the harbor. Munira leads Viona through a maze of back alleys, over a wall with a box placed as a step, down a garden path and into what seems to be quite a respectable house. Music can be heard faintly from inside. Munira avoids the back door and goes instead to a cellar door, which she knocks on, twice, then three times. It opens and a hulking half ogre ushers them down into a basement tavern.

They quickly come to a large, white walled tavern, loud music coming from inside. The room is large, high ceilinged, perhaps once a wine cellar. It's crowded, but not uncomfortably so. The patrons appear to be a mix of people from all walks of life, minor nobles, petty merchants, artisans and sailors. However more than a few of them are obviously adventurers: brightly clad in a number of outlandish styles, and mostly with a huge amount of gold and jewelry on display.

Some are teenagers, new to the game, gawking at everything, others are well dressed, relaxed and hardened.

On the stage a Elfric, the youth from earlier.

Elfric: Good evening Gentlemen and Ladies, I am Elfric the Bold, and tonight I shall tell the tale of how I stole jewels from the palace itself, only to be undone by a Princess's hand maiden.

Elfric Winks.

Elfric: And how I got out of it alive and with both hands. (He holds them up)

Munira: I told you, good entertainment. I'll get us some drinks, find us a table.

Viona (To the audience): Damn she knows me well. How would she know I'd miss this of all things?

Viona finds a table at the edge of the room while Munira gets a bottle of wine from the bar, laughing with the barman as she does, and comes back to pour two glasses.

Viona (To the audience): So, how shall I approach this evening?

[ ] Flirt

Act 1, Scene 10: The Tavern
Act 1, Scene 10: The Tavern

The pair drink for a while, watching the throng, then head to the bar for more drinks, and to mingle with the crowd. The barman, a handsome woman with one eye serves them another half bottle of wine as they finish the first. There's several groups of adventurers around the bar.

Elfric stands off to one side, his tale finished. He's being congratulated by a blond woman with the long ears of the forest folk who wears a short white outfit and caries a lyre over her back. With them is a huge dark skinned woman from beyond the Southern frosts, and a handsome man in a full length robe.

Across the bar is a red clad sorceress who looks like she's from the Eastern Empire. A second sorceress with pale skin sits next to her, with a glass of very red wine in hand.. The two are chatting to a albino woman in dark leather armour with an elaborate rapier on her hip, and a big man with the look of a sailor.

Viona looks over at the latter group and blinks.

Munra: (speaking a secret language between the pair) [Something?]
Viona: [Oh, nothing, just that the paler of those two over there is a demon. Not that it's really any of my business]

Viona: So how did you find a place like this?

Munira: Oh, I keep my ear to the ground you could say. I try to keep a good contact with the scene.

Viona: The scene now, is it?

Munira: It's only in the war that anyone really sees this job as more than romantic.

Viona: I suppose so. You save the world, and you go back to being another grave robber.

Munira: You're so despairing.

Viona: ['m the villain.]

Munira sighs.

Viona: So, did you see meet Selena's latest?

Munira: No. I didn't, wait, is this a new someone? Wasn't she with that sea captain? They didn't spend long together.

Viona: Yes. She's taken up with an actress now. Quite famous, so I hear.

Munira: Why exactly does she go through love so fast?

Viona: She says that if you don't, they'll become too attached. She says it is a singular danger.

Munira: (sounding slightly jealous) She's impossible.

Viona: She is what she is. Besides, I don't see you living a life of virtue.

Munira is gazing over at Elfric, and winks at him.

Munira: What were you saying?

Viona: Nothing too important it seems.

Munira looks sheepish.

Munira: You have to admit, he is rather handsome.

Viona: Younger men bore me a little, but don't let me stop you.

[ ] Go with Munira
[ ] Approach the other adventuring party
[ ] Wait for someone to approach you.
