The Old World: Dark Age of the Empire

The fundamental issue is nearly everyone involved is an inexperienced idiot compared to Vlad and the only reason we aren't getting played as hard is meta knowledge. Fucker nearly won in canon and failed cause he rushed Altdorf instead of going after easier targets.

And because someone stole his ring. in a way he was way overpower.

Issue is vlad is even being more cautious this time around which throw us out of the loop, he should be using zombies and skeletons by now and instead he seen to have using regular old human tropes and canon, which means he seen to fight as human until being force out of it.

I have to said our ambassador and diplomat expert dying right after getting into a diplomatic quackmire is one of those historical oddities in general, our chararter very much regreting that happen, isnt?

Vlad clearly was playing good here: he probably left slaaneshi cult fester in order to kill them later and use as good causa beli in order to pretend his war and anexation will be see as just. If we abandon stirdland i will hit us and if we are soft we will look like chaotic cultist, which given how our father die is a sour point.
That's just slander.

He isn't "letting the cult fester", he couldn't cut out a major cult in a neighboring province, even if he wanted to.
Just like we couldn't do much about it, despite knowing that cultists were coming over from Stirland into our area.

You need full access and major internal security-forces to act against a strong cult, neither we nor Vlad nor any of the current Emperors could do it remotely.

I mean he could have warned the count if he's aware of this as we seem to think he is. But instead he used it as a cassus Belium which tbh is entirely fitting for this time period but is still from our perspective him playing extremely cautiously and reserved. Vlad's letting the empire hang itself far more here which is probably going to be more effective. Our boys life really is intrigue hell. Waaaaghs are easy having to deal with vampires taking advantage of humans stupidity is Hell.

what dose "Joint Ultimatum" mean? Do we invade the country along with valid in a 2 prong assault, do we just forfully abdicate the current grands count and have his heir or another person become the new ruler as a puppet/ally of us? It's too vague.

The Heir Apparent
At the age of two years old, the heir to Wissenland is presented to the nobility and receives oaths promising to ensure the succession. And the three ceremonial regents are named and swear their own oaths to ensure the safety of Eldred's person and the stability of the realm while he is underage. The whole thing is simply a precaution, certainly you have no intention for Eldred to become Grand Count any time soon. Host the ceremony, and select your Eldred's three ceremonial regents.
(Write-In each ceremonial regent, they do not have to be a noteable character from Wissenland but that is the expectation. Each regent gets an Engage action for free)
Cost: 300 Marks, 500 Food per Die
Must Beat: 50
This looks pretty important.

We could die, in war, to assassins, whatever.

Having settled Regents for the time between our death and our son's adulthood is vital.

First we join the Ultimatum for the Grand Count to abdicate, and if he does we test his heir for corruption, before allowing him to take charge.

If the Count doesn't agree to that, we invade together with Vlad.

We could have warned them too, but we assumed they can manage their internal issues, until it became clear that's not an option anymore.

So far Vlad has acted like any ambitious Elector Count, with no strong hint of anything being wrong.

First he allied with an Emperor-Candidate to gain some goodwill, then he tries to expand his local influence with his neighbor Stirland, with said Emperor's blessing.
We could have basically done the same, if we were more interested in expansionism, but Wissenland plays better by going for economic success, usually at least.

If Haupt-Anderssen surrenders then he abdicates to his heir, you check that the heir is chaos-free and then both you and Vlad stand down. If Haupt-Anderssen refuses then both you and Vlad attack Stirland. Once a war starts, the peace treaty is suddenly up in the air until someone wins.

This is what I'm thinking of voting for.

Our good name is on the line, in the plan I even wrote "By blood, faith and steel".
I'm honestly still massively suspicious of the Stirland heir+wife+commanders that left before they could be checked.
We should probably get the witch hunters and inquisition marching with our troops and use them to check them for chaos corruption when we are there.

This seems obvious to me, but idk maybe there is a legitimate reason to not do this?

Far too antagonistic against Sylvania for my taste.

I'd drop the Elector Count, go for the shared Ultimatum.

Vlad ist really good at the espionage game, solving the Cannon theft Problem cost us a ton of dice and multiple attempts. I would bet that Vlad ist secretly behind the Stirlandian cult problem. At the moment Vlad still pretends to be a normal Elector Count so he has to manufacture a casus belli.

I disagree.

Vlad obviously put a lot of his Diplo and Intrigue work in Middenland, to make friends with the Wolf Emperor (and it works out so far).

I doubt he would play the extremely risky game of fostering Chaos Cults in his neighborhood, hoping they grow big enough to justify an invasion but small enough not to bring serious Chaos forces to his doorstep.
Playing with Chaos is always a fool's game and he's no fool.

Think we should do "Develop the Gimbal Compass", it is gonna have a massive impact on the sea trade of the world

Would also like to talk to "The Principality of Tordorno" so that we can make a trade deal with them, and sell them weapons and guns

Way i see it, Vlad has the tacit support of most of the Empire right now with both the Wolf and Ottilian Emperors supporting Sylvania topping the Elector of Stirland with force. Riekland ain't exactly doing shit right now. Getting into a fight with Vlad for the sake of a very much stained Stirland isn't worth it. We won't have any support if we get into a fight with Sylvania when both of our Electoral Allies, Ostland and Ostermark are Ottilan supporters. We should be seeking to undercut Vlad by stealing the spotlight from him as a champion against Chaos or preventing him from being able to steal land from Stirland or putting his own puppet on the throne of Stirland.

To facilitate such, i think we should engage with the Elector of Averland and the Ottilian Emperor. The only uncommitted neighbor of Stirland and the faction leader of our allies in Ostland and Ostermark. Get them on ourside rather than staying passive or supporting Vlad and start window shopping for a prospective new Elector of Stirland if the heir is corrupt too. Talking with the Arch-Lector get him to give his thumbs up even if the Grand Theogenist disapproves.
