The New Gods of A Broken World

Thinking on things. Not sure what to do though. @ShieldCrown is there any update on Regalius/the Ram situation?

Also, mechanically, has anything changed in regards to studying or modifying the Wheel of Pitarr after I spent time studying it?

The Ram Shaman is using the creation of the lifestream as a reason to continue with the idea of killing the birdmen. Regalius is closing in on them.

As for the Wheel, you have gained a basic understanding now, but not enough for modifications to be more viable.

Alright, I'm thinking of making an Avatar and continuing to study the Wheel.

@ShieldCrown About the Avatar: you said it didn't have to be the same domain as the god, right? How does granting it abilities work? Does the Avatar's abilities depend on the domain, or do we have to explicitly state what powers we want the Avatar to have?

Also, since everyone gains an extra five points this turn, that would mean I have 19 points after having 4 last round. Since the extra five points was a one time thing, do we lose any points that go over 15 next turn? For example, if I only spent 8 points this turn, having 11 points as a result, do I only gain 4 points next turn?

I said it doesn't need to match your Domains. You must state what powers it has.

Yeah, that is pretty much it.

Okay, testing the waters here: for my Avatar, I wanted to create something that might be expensive, but hopefully worth the points.

I wanted to create an Avatar that was capable of "testing" the mortal races regardless of their strengths, and make sure they never grow weak or complacent. I wasn't entirely sure what exactly the Avatar would need to accomplish such a task, but the following is a list of all the powers I thought of and would ideally want the Avatar to have.

When you have a minute, could you go through the list and break down how much all this would cost?

- Peerless Knowledge: The Avatar's intelligence and wisdom is unmatched by any mortal.
- Peerless Strength: The Avatar can pierce through any defense, be it physical or otherwise.
- Peerless Endurance: The Avatar can withstand any physical blow by a mortal or a mortal creation.
- Peerless Adapter: Whenever any mortal or mortal civilization grows to a point where it outclasses the Avatar's current level, the Avatar automatically grows in turn to counter the new improvements.
- Magic Immunity: Nothing Arcane in nature can harm this Avatar.
- Disease Immunity: No plague or poison can harm this Avatar.
- Samson's Hair: The Avatar can sense the greatest strength of anything mortal, be it an object, individual or an entire civilization.
- Achilles' Heel: The Avatar can sense the greatest weakness of anything mortal, be it an object, individual or an entire civilization.
- Master Conjurer: The Avatar can create any construct or illusion that can aid in accomplishing its goals.
- Manifest Fear: The Avatar is aware of and can conjure an illusion of any mortal being's greatest fear.
- The Lord Giveth: The Avatar has the ability to grant a boon that compensates for anything mortal's greatest weaknesses.
- The Lord Taketh: The Avatar has the ability to strip anything mortal of their greatest strengths.

Oooh boy.

  • First three don't cost much. +1 additional point.
  • That will bump up the Prince to 8 points.
  • No additional cost.
  • That's free.
  • +2 to the cost

Okay, so if my math's right, the ideal would be... 25 points, right?

That means if I want to create it right now, I need to give up 6 points worth of power. A question then:

Now, two of the powers allow the Avatar to sense strengths and weaknesses, and another two allow the Avatar to actually affect them. If I were to take away the former powers to sense strengths and weaknesses, how exactly would the Avatar's power to affect said strengths and weaknesses, if at all?

It would effect the most obvious ones.

Alright then: I've decided to forgo the strength, endurance, conjuration, and manifest fear, which I'll hopefully be able to add next turn if things go well. Since you said Magic and Disease immunity are free, that means the Avatar should have the following.

- Magic Immunity: Nothing Arcane in nature can harm this Avatar.
- Disease Immunity: No plague or poison can harm this Avatar.
- Peerless Knowledge: The Avatar's intelligence and wisdom is unmatched by any mortal.
- Samson's Hair: The Avatar can sense the greatest strength of anything mortal, be it an object, individual or an entire civilization.

- Peerless Adapter: Whenever any mortal or mortal civilization grows to a point where it outclasses the Avatar's current level, the Avatar automatically grows in turn to counter the new improvements.

Is this accurate? And since this will use up every single point I have, will the Avatar simply do nothing or will it act of its own volition?

Until you want to come in, yes.

Do you wish to start playing? Because I don't think the people in front of you are going to start being active.
I'll give them a couple days, but sure.

tfw you make an impossibly strong avatar and all it does is sit on its ass and eat Cheetos

It will take actions that follow its personality...

I did include the Avatar Sheet?

Oops, right, I forgot. Here:

Name: Ulyaoth
Creation: Assembled almost haphazardly from a myriad of flesh and bone lying deep within Xolotl's depths, and held together with a fraction of the Ooze itself, the Judge was summoned forth from the depths and granted great power and life. Far too hideous for mortal eyes, the Pool clothed it in grand bronze and azure fabric to appear more humanoid, while also possessing an authoritative aura.
Appearance: A gargantuan, imposing figure of flesh arms, bronze, and Ooze, clothed in azure fabric. The closest approximation to their physical appearance:

Powers: Physically, Ulyaoth was forged from the very Ooze and flesh that composed the Pool itself, so that all mortals would know who they served. To fulfill their task of testing the mortal races, they were granted the following:
- Magic Immunity: Nothing Arcane in nature can harm this Avatar.
- Disease Immunity: No plague or poison can harm this Avatar.
- Peerless Knowledge: The Avatar's intelligence and wisdom is unmatched by any mortal.
- Samson's Hair: The Avatar can sense the greatest strength of anything mortal, be it an object, individual or an entire civilization.
- Achilles' Heel: The Avatar can sense the greatest weakness of anything mortal, be it an object, individual or an entire civilization.

- Peerless Adapter: Whenever any mortal or mortal civilization grows to a point where it outclasses the Avatar's current level, the Avatar automatically grows in turn to counter the new improvements.
Behavior: Ulyaoth is purely interested in perfecting the mortal races by ensuring they remain strong and driven; in the absence of a direct order from Xolotl, the Judge observe the sentient mortal races, so as to be more intimately familiar with their strengths and weaknesses. If at any point Ulyaoth deems a race in danger of extinction or self-destruction by any means, the Judge is to Test them immediately, forcing challenges upon them that are difficult to overcome, but not impossible.
If the race passes their various Tests, that race is to be rewarded with a boon to one weakness of their choice. If the race fails, however, their greatest strength is to be taken away from them instead.

Does that work?
