The Mandalorian

It's clear the Final Order was always the end goal. The ships and such were already being constructed while the Empire still existed.

The Empire and First Order were a means to an end to get end goal.
My brain still tries to reject that because it feels so dumb, but such is the dead hand of TRoS.

Tbh I don't know how much of Mando I factor into my AU now

With addition of the postlogy, it seems that Palps' final objective was to discover a way to become immortal, and then openly transform the Empire into a Sith Empire, assuring the total and final victory of the Sith over the Jedi.

It is. More or less. Just takes Palpatine nearly three decades longer to get his pieces in place. And while the New Republic sort of rolled over quickly, they were not fresh off Thrawn's campaign when the Emperor struck. Plus the Heroes of Yavin were now to outgoing generation rather than the heros of the day.

Really powerful Sith individuals chasing after the Sith'ari concept shouldn't be too surprising, considering that's one of the major central prophecies of the Sith discipline.

It feels kind of telling that this seems to be the most talked-about aspect of the season
Well, the plot of the Mandalorian people was pretty straightforward and resolved in this season: the Mandalorian got their world back and can start rebuilding and inciting the scattered Mandalorians to come back, Bo Katana is once again their leader but now wiser and worthy of her title, Din officially adopted Grogu and can now dedicate all his time to his bounty hunter job and raising Grogu and even have his own little house to rest between two jobs.

The only plot still ongoing is the Shadow Council (with Thrawn about to come back) and the premises of the First Order, do it's normal that we mainly talk about it.

I was thinking more that, well, it seems to have been only the plot that's been talked about outside of speculation. I wish Din's pilgrimage in particular came with more of an internal journey.

Paz and Din mending their differences and bonding over their situation as single dads was completely unexpected but thoroughly enjoyable. Makes his death at the hands of the Praetorian Guards hit all the more harder.

"I've heard whispers of Thrawn's return. As Heir to the Empire."

You know, I want to like this show, but boy is it making it hard.
I actually kinda like that line, it is pretty omminous and maybe it sets up Thrawn being seen as a sort of Napoleon figure with soldiers hoping for his return, his legend having been aggrandized by propaganda, time and the incompetence of other officers.

That might work in a vacuum (though in that case I think "Heir to the Emperor" would have worked better), but I simply can't get passed how awkward of a title drop it is.

Only reason I might consider seeing it is for Titus Pullo as a Sith, otherwise have negative interest in this.

Heir to the Empire came out in 1991. A lot has happened to Star Wars since then. A lot of canon has changed and companies have changed hands and directions. It is somewhat comforting to be getting even some of that story back again when it seemed clear that that was never going to happen after Revenge of the Sith came out (and seeming more so when The Force Awakens came out). But first Thrawn was brought into Star Wars Rebels, which was awesome. Now he comes back at roughly the timeframe where the original novels had him return. Bring it.

It won't be Heir to the Empire as written in 1991, but it will be interesting to see what can be done with how Star Wars has ended up since then.

Gina Carano Sues Disney Over ‘Mandalorian’ Firing In Lawsuit Funded by Elon Musk

The actress claims the entertainment giant discriminated against her for voicing certain opinions on hot-button issues.
Carano, in a complaint filed on Tuesday in California federal court, alleges she was fired for voicing right-wing opinions on social media and seeks a court order that would force Lucasfilm to rehire her and pay at least $75,000 in punitive damages. Elon Musk, making good on a promise to foot the legal bill for users who claim they have been discriminated against due to their activity on his platform, is helping fund the suit through X.

In a statement, X's head of business operations Joe Benarroch said, "As a sign of X Corp's commitment to free speech, we're proud to provide financial support for Gina Carano's lawsuit, empowering her to seek vindication of her free speech rights on X and the ability to work without bullying, harassment, or discrimination."

...

According to the complaint, Disney and Lucasfilm harassed and defamed Carano for refusing to conform with their viewpoints on issues relating to Black Lives Matter, preferred pronouns and claims of election interference. While she was allegedly fired for her cultural and religious beliefs, Carano argues that the entertainment giant turned a blind eye to her male costars, who allegedly made offensive and denigrating posts directed towards Republicans. She points to Pedro Pascal's 2017 post comparing former president Donald Trump to Hitler.
