Far away, cold, dead hands fling open a box torn free from the stars, golden light spilling out between their spectral fingers even as they snatch for it. A time of wonders and horrors Creation hasn't seen in over a thousand years is loosed upon it, and it will be many months before anyone truly understands the full ramifications.
I guess it's the release of the Sun Exalted. Whose hands opened the box?

the wings folded at his back lend him a profane, Anathemic cast
Translation: he looks edgy and cool.

Fifteen centuries — fifteen centuries, trapped in that shape, in that cage.
I can understand that he pissed off.

the Directory Bound in Crimson, Defining Soul of the Bottomless Library, who is the Ninth Soul of the All-Hunger Blossom
Nice boast, but that could mean anything, including a little librarian.

Well, I guess he's not a librarian :o

He speaks a word, stamps his foot, and there is a deafening crash behind you.
So why didn't he leave because they arrived?

[X] Someone is missing

Yoxien knows Ambraea's name, and can feel the weight of obligation and duty on it. he's not stupid. He knows how vindictive Terrestrials can be, and probably doesn't want to chance pissing someone off while he's trying to free himself. Doesn't mean he won't kill, but why if he doesn't need to?

[X] Something important is broken

Lets all get trapped on magical ghost island.

So why didn't he leave because they arrived?
He had two young students of sorcery present. This prevented him from doing the slow careful unraveling of the bindings containing him, but gave him an option of just convincing them to let him loose, and any quick escape would require him drawing attention to the fact that he is free and leaving him open to attacks from them if he just tried fleeing.
Lets all get trapped on magical ghost island.
While the boat would be a brilliant thing to destroy on Yoxien's part, as it would strand the majority of them, but Ambraea can call on Diamond Cut Perfection, so she'll be mostly fine, unless there is some problem he's having which prevents him from aiding her.

Well, I guess he's not a librarian :o
Well, technically... He probably counts as one? But, like, translating his title into a more generic phrasing, he's the librarian who organizes the living campus that records everything ever eaten by the Demon King of Gluttony. A demon lord who is one of the souls of a demon Prince who is one of the souls of the Yozi, who are the beings hell was built to contain.

Officially the Deathlords do it this edition.

Side question to everyone, instead of Ambraea fleeing the civil war, I think she has a shot at becoming Empress.
I think the key thing is to remember that their are years of chaos and infighting before the realm settles enough to rally behind an empress. In that respect, leaving to somewhat less destabilized Prasad with her Hearth and possibly members of their house who want out of the coming infighting and building her up her house through many deeds there is a valid option.

I don't think most of Ambraea's friends would be cool with abounding their families to ride things out in Prasad

[x] Someone is missing

Also why would we want Ambraea to be Empress, it'll be terrible for her.
The assumption that she'll probably have a thing about wanting to live up to her mothers legacy? Maybe just to make sure a Peleps doesn't become Empress and go after her and a number of her friends? Because she has ambitions of founding a house, which is very dangerous with who is to end up ruling the realm in flux, and if she is going to be acting towards ensuring rule of the realm is resolved in her favor, perhaps trying to take the position herself is worthwhile?

Extremely unlikely unless the civil war goes extremely badly for everybody.

Ambraea is the weakest posible heir by far, there is no way for her to end in the throne short of a wholesale masacre of the Dynasty.

My thought is that since she's already associated with House V'neef, a house that is about 9-10 years old at this point. If things go bad enough (and I am enough of a fiend to want that), say V'neef gets assasinated, the rest of the house has a spare Imperial Daughter to work with. Unlikely, I know, but like I said I am enough of a fiend to want that.

It'd be more like centrifugal political forces beyond Ambraea's immediate reach may force her into being a contender. My two cents of course.

So, anyone else think that "someone is missing" involves Yoxien abducting Maia?

He does know that she lied to him about her name, but I'm not sure that would lead to a kidnapping. Maybe if he figures she's hiding something good and wants the deets - which is very bad for a lot of people if he finds the truth.
