[X] House V'neef

If we lose at least it's on our feet with the girlies.

[X] House Mnemon

If V'Neef has a thousand haters, I am one of them. If V'Neef has no haters I and Mnemon are both dead.

I'm mostly deciding based on what it says happens to Ambraea from a personality standpoint - I'm not interested in being more ruthless (we have Maia for that), and we definitely don't need to be more conservative

[X] House Mnemon

Just consider the delicious drama when Ambraea inevitably ends up fighting L'nessa in the battlefield.

This'll probably lead to disaster
We have been inside disaster's event horizon since Mama Red up and vanished.

[X] House V'neef

Mnemon sets my teeth on edge, and not in an interesting way. Either something will explode in ways that defeat the point of siding with her in the first place, or Ambraea will become someone I'm not interested in any more. Possibly both.

"Vahelo," Ambar says, giving you an almost conspiratorial little smile. "I believe her exact words were 'an intelligent and upstanding lady'. Whatever did you do to leave such a good impression from so brief an acquaintance?"

You cast him a sidelong glance, keeping most of your attention on guiding your mount down the shallow slope ahead of you. "Nothing that would interest you at all, from what I've been told."

Ambar laughs, seemingly genuinely delighted. "Now, that's certainly fair enough. But from what I've been told of you, my lady, I might think that attention to such matters isn't what you'd seek in a man anyway."

You don't let your mouth twitch in amusement. "I may also look for some measure of discretion," you say instead.

"Well, of course," Ambar says, with surprisingly little resentment, "it's all well and good to be so blatant while I'm still young and unmarried, but trust me when I say I fully intend to allow whatever lucky woman I end up with full credit for finally 'taking me in hand' — I will certainly continue seeing to my needs, of course, but I am confident that I can do so without being an embarrassment to my spouse or our household. Although I doubt I'll go so far as to outright declare a lover sworn kin. Such a show of devotion is a little beyond my cold little heart."

You turn your head to consider him fully for a moment. He's too much of a stranger to you to be able to tell how sincere he's being, but if you were to marry a man already notorious for his conquests while in his twenties, his reforming his ways only after marrying you is certainly one way to make up for it. The remark about Maia is a little pointed, but hardly unfair, following your own jab. "And who could ever ask for more in a groom?" you say, voice bone dry.

"Well, I do bring intelligence, wit, and social connections as well," Ambar says, "but it's true, my unwillingness to maliciously cast doubt on my eventual wife's ability to control her own household is the best feature I'd bring to the table. For my sake as much as anything."

[...snip for space...]

You lean down, extending a hand to Ambar. "Can you walk?" you ask him.

"Not well, or with any dignity," he admits.

"Do I have your permission to carry you?" you ask, with as much gallantry as you can muster under the circumstances.

He sighs, accepting your hand. "Well, it does seem like the most practical solution, for the time being." You lift him up easily enough, carrying him in your arms without complaint as you begin to walk toward the loudest of the voices. "This would be disgustingly romantic, if we were different people, wouldn't it?" he asks.

You laugh again. "Yes. It would be."

Honestly, the main reason I have for voting Sesus is for Ambar. Vote for Sesus to marry this practical weird little gay twink who's going to be a nice friend more than a romantic partner, who won't mind Maia one bit as long as he's allowed the equivalent, and vote for Sesus for more Amiti being relieved that Ambraea is around and friendly. We heard that Amiti being in or out of the Hearth is a later vote, but the flipside of it is that this is the answer that gives Amiti the best and simplest answer. If everyone she's close to are all on one side, things don't get as bad-complicated as it could be for Amiti, and that helps keep anyone from misusing Amiti's... flexible sense of morality.

I find it difficult to imagine Ambraea fitting in well with Mnemon. It just seems like a fundamental mismatch with her character. Anyway, I really don't like the description there; I don't want to see Ambraea become some grouchy hidebound conservative. (Y'know, more than she is.)

Sesus is viable, but it basically strikes me as just the "Hide in the corner and hope no one notices you while they kill each other" option. Bah! Pick a side and start kung-fu fighting! And I wouldn't say Ambraea's ruthless tendencies need any more encouragement.

This is simply the more interesting option. In character it would make sense to opt for Mnemon but while I don't hold any animosity for Mnemon as a character (at least compared to others in the thread) an option where Ambraea takes the safe route by settling into an established House just doesn't appeal. In IC terms, I'd see choosing V'neef as a combination of sentimentally keeping the gang together, and deliberately recognizing that Things Have Changed and Ambraea needs to be more flexible and adaptable than she has been up to now, by making choices that compensate for her weaknesses by pushing outside her comfort zone (for example, by getting over herself when it comes to her least older sister).

Yeah, this is compelling.

Sthera is too cool a character to let go to seed and spend the rest of her days as a miserable drunk, and Ambraea certainly won't be in a position to kick her ass and kabedon her in sesus or mnemon's houses.
As is this.

It must be nice, though, to have familial problems that seem to have such a simple solution.
Jesus Christ, Ambraea.
