The King is Dead, An Heir Is Born: Crusader Kings 3

Tried it out as Ned Stark in Robert's Rebellion, and there seems to be no conventional way to win without a lot of luck.
I think there's an event chain, but I can't seem to get past the first step.

Of course, that's when Aerys decided to blow up Kings Landing...

I shouldn't be surprised that other people are playing the AGOT mod, it's a good mod, right up there with the film-inspired LOTR mod, but more comprehensive.

Decided to give Rob's Rebellion a try as Mace "the Ace" Tyrell, because why wouldn't i? :cool2: Mildly disappointed the characters are modeled after community illustrative appearances than that of the films (not that there wouldn't be a fifteen year age difference, but still), but I understand the reasoning. The scripted element of the Rebellion hit...very quickly, while I was attempting to encircle Storm's End (which I was able to do so, except I had to periodically withdraw with the bulk of the Baratheon forces doubling back multiple times to dislodge me).

You'd think that this would've bought time for the royalist forces (and I suppose it technically did, though this being CK3, no effort was actually made to coordinate between Tyrell and the other royalists), except than Jamie Lannister proceeded to murder basically everyone in the capital anyway, and Rob forced everyone to sue for peace anyway (then again, the actual event only lasted a year anyway, so I guess that's the point). Ned, in my game, was also dead, so I invited his widow (now with the "insane" trait, good grief) to my court and Mace was appointed to council position.

Not as much fun as I was picturing it, but I think I was doing it wrong. I launched a new game as House Tyrell, albeit in the postwar and have been having more fun with that. Tournaments are extremely tedious but good ways to gamble to make money (my fault for periodically save scumming, haha); had Mace befriend Robert and be made Master of Laws (hmmm...okay?), as well as inviting his bastard Mya to become a courtier/ward (as in normal CK3, it's useful to take in a bunch of gifted children and turn them inexploited the plus/minus points mechanic to convince the ruling House Martell to engage their heir to mine (I'm vaguely aware of the irony of that situation, but a lot of that is regularly consulting the wiki as I played), with the theoretical outcome of unifying the Reach and Dorne into a southern power bloc, while making various infrastructure improvements and drumming out the more useless Tyrell councilors (I do appreciate the irony of that with Mace as Lord Paramount of the West, though he's demonstrated himself as being good at gambling and making other lords like him).

I'm still waiting for the Warcraft mod to be updated to support the current version of the game, but otherwise, this seems very fun.

Eh, while the mod certainly can be good when it's finished, they picked the wrong bookmark to start with.
Westeros is too stable, so there won't be that many wars and because half of the named characters aren't born (and will never be born) the peace time isn't very interesting.

also very few independant counties to play around with if you dont want to fight the blob that is the iron throne.

I'm liking the new update. Improved UI is always nice.

Also, Ironman and unmodded are no longer necessary for achievements, so that's always a plus.

EDIT: Stress gain seems to be borked. A friend dying only gives me 2 stress, I remember it being higher.

Haven't touched the landless stuff yet, but I'm enjoying being a vassal in the Byzantines quite a bit.

Also seems like what they did in this expansion provides most of what they need to implement Republics. I don't think they're too far away.

Landless stuff has been fun. Why yes, we are a roving band of scholars. We write books, do transcription, have three thousand professional longbowmen guarding the camp, and we sometimes settle disputes.

Bet you they introduce merchant caravans as a thing using the landless system, probably at the same time they add East and Southeast Asia to the map.

Estates just me think they are one step closer to making republics playable again which would be nice given I greatly enjoyed republics in spite of their flaws.

I think Nomads or Republics are likely to come next year.

Also, the new bookmark has a shitton of Republics on the map, so there's another indication of that.

Okay I do think they need to adjust the Conqueror Trait a bit.

So far in my current game an AI one spawned in Scotland and he and his son took over all of the British Isles, France, Germany, Norther Spain, Southern Scandinavia, the Balkans and are pushing in to Russia and the remaining Byzantine Empire. They also reformed Britannia into an Administrative Empire so I don't think it will be going anywhere for a while.

I think if they made Conqueror a trait that isn't inheritable trait it would make the wild rapid expansion a bit easier to deal with.

Alright crime is the best in the DLC, I made a new adventurer specc'ed in intrigue and just only did the crime missions and was rolling in cash before I even moved to my next character
