The Hearts of Iron Megathread

Both of You, Calm down. And please stopped this conversation. I am not judging anyone until I got proof. Now, if anybody wants to continue the conversation, pls create a new thread.
Technically, this wouldn't be fit for a new thread given its personal nature in having two of the main figures involved. SV doesn't have any rules against discussing off-site controversies, but I doubt the mods would be happy with seeing such a thread in this case since both figures being here means it likely wouldn't go anywhere productive if they both were involved.

IIRC when they announced they did the interview the lead dev said something along the lines of introducing the bomber as "Comrade <name>" and supposedly saying some other stuff that people claim was an endorsement of the guy. This is just what I heard from other people thoughts so take it with a grain of salt. That part of the server has since been scrubbed clean so we can't go and look at the original post for ourselves.
Uh,hi, I was around in the team at the time. The "comrade" thing was really the only part in which we glorified him, to be fair, but it's still quite iffy. The Dev who did that is obviously long gone (although thankfully she is alright, since I was rather worried that she was dead considering that she'd mentioned some rather depressing things), but uh I don't think there was much beyond that

cope harder
Also unironically no idea why MDusk is problematic lel
And enjoy your irrelevant coop, can't wait for most of the mods to leave because they're sick of being associated with a joker like you.

Anyway, in news that isn't inane drama, here's a teaser from my good friend's new mod, set in an alternate 1920 Germany, following a successful Kapp-Lüttwitz Putsch - introducing Bürgerkrieg!

I'm slightly curious why Japan has a say in what's happening in Warmia-Masuria / Ermland-Masuren...

[WARNING=The spam cleaner hungers.]
Kindly remember that if you join SV just to start fights, we will show you the door.

A few obvious troll accounts have been escorted off the property. Please continue with your discussion.
[/WARNING]
Errm i had a look at the last few pages and no one is banned. Did you also remove their posts?

yes.

someone who signs up just to start a fight is treated in exactly the same way as someone who signs up just to advertise penis pills or cryptocurrency: account deleted, all posts deleted.

when it comes to discord servers i just assume irony isnt real and it makes the choice to stay or not real obvious

naturally pretty much no hoi server is good when you just treat every post at face value lol

I wonder why a game about the worst war in the history of mankind always brings the worst of a lot of people?

In other news, my game crashed while I got my neat new Sultana. And the autosave does not work.

It was such a nice cool game too. Damn it.

PD: Some of the new national focus, specially in Bulgaria are FRIGGING DARK.

Everyone's quoting deleted posts smh, I dont know what their responding too, eh, form the context it was probably something dumb, so no great loss from missing it

Short story: Pink Panzer was giving us examples of some of the HoI4 discords members' toxicity, and two of said members created an account just to "answer" to him and illustrated perfectly how toxic they were.
So yeah, no big loss here.

Uh, how do I upload images without linking them? I wanted to upload a teaser but my Discord is down and it's not on reddit, so it's only on my photos library.

Upload to imgur (or other image host) and then link back here. Or grab an SV subscription since that allows you to directly embed images into posts without linking from somewhere else.

Oof, I guess I'll have to try another way then

So, a few months ago, I conversed with the Manchukuo Dev. He told me a few of the plans for Manchukuo in tno. What he'd basically said was that the paths would boil down to the left-wing and liberal Japanese youths who had been sent there during the war itself, the more native-associated Concordia Association, and the Reform Bureaucrats (Kishi's guys).
This is all I can reveal atm.
A few other things, ie analyses of the most recent leaks -
  • The Greece leak is pretty good looking, and it's quite well done in terms of research.
The "Committee for the Reorganisation of the KKE" is based on something Metaxas did in real life. The "Mauragorites" were collaborationist smugglers, and "X and EEE" against the reds refers to the Organisation X, a monarchist resistance-turned-collab group.
  • In the Mexico leak, there's not a lot. However, I did like that Mexico's GUI is not a parliament gui as is the faction but actually is quite unique. In case yall are wondering, irl Lozano is famous for being the advocate of proto-NAFTA. What's interesting is the outlook of each leader - Ordaz wants to keep the status quo of 1962, Madrazo hopes to abandon the corruption and return to the ways of Cardenas and the ideals of the revolution, while Lozano looks to the future of the country and its economic and international relations.
  • The next leak we got was for Ostland. Here, there's not much to analyse, but I did like the nods to Jewish folklore and the mentions of Ponomarenko and the Belarusian partisans. I do hope that they make Landrut less of a white (or, well, German) saviour and more of a complex figure, a good man but one who has to make sure that his actions aren't neo-colonial.
  • The next leak we got was for Turkey. What I can say is that the Democrat Party, a less secular and more capitalistic party would be the Condem and fash popularity, and the socdems are probably Ecevit. "Hep Ileri", by the way, means "Always Forward".
  • You'll get some more info on my personal analyses later, because I can't be assed to finish this.

So TWR's Novosibirisk's starting tree will revolve around Zhdanov being ill and then dying, with a choice between him making a speech declaring his deputy, Scherbakov, his successor first or being too ill to do so. Exactly what difference this will make is unknown, given the very next focus after Zhdanov's death is Scherbakov's death. It has also been stated that there'll be multiple Death of Stalin references.

Just a bit of clarification but the Manchukuo statement is no longer accurate. Please check with the devs before you read a statement and believe it!
