You're right. Scion *IS* meant to deal with anything that might cause issues with the cycle. The problem is that Scion is currently depressed to the point of indifference, and doesn't really care much about what's currently happening unless it involves cats in trees, or his Endbringers being under attack. Anything else, unless it makes a really big splash, can be safely ignored from his, very very limited, point of view. You know, chaos influence is one of the few things that might cause scion to show up in Brockton Bay, he is specifically ment to deal with external treats to the cycle, which this very much classifies as
also you are lucky this was Khorne and not Tzeench, Lisa would fall like a sack of bricks to him
If she does two at once for the same weapon does she get a combo-power? Like, morals aside, Jack Slash and Flechette for a sword that can cut through anything at infinite range.
Unless I'm badly misremembering, there's explicit WoG to the effect that the Entities do not have access to magic. And even if they did have magic, that magic isn't coming from the host parahuman themself, it's coming from their shard/agent, so sacrificing the parahuman on the anvil still wouldn't accomplish much, in any case. So, what I'm hearing is that if she sacrifices a Parahuman she gets a sword with their powers?
Or one of the 4 whispers something to him that registers. And suddenly he's building skull thrones/making books from the skin of everyone in Paris/infected everyone in Mexico with Nurgle's rot/Slaanesh.You know, chaos influence is one of the few things that might cause scion to show up in Brockton Bay, he is specifically ment to deal with external treats to the cycle, which this very much classifies as

You know, Taylor would probably be able to take those bombs out of people, possibly with a chunk of the surrounding tissues, and just kind of leg it, or yeet it, away from them fast enough to avoid catching them in the blast-radius. Would probably need to rope a healer like Amy or Othala into things, and possibly a Tinker, who I'm thinking would be L33T since he's the most disposable and has the broadest specialty, to identify the payload. So everybody in town figured out what Lung's secret project was two nights ago. He recruited a tinker. A bomb tinker. And no matter how bad the consequences will turn out to be for Brockton Bay, the security footage from the incident that night revealed something equally as bad for the ABB. The mad bitch has turned every last one of them into involuntary suicide bombers. What Lisa identified later on as some random civilians too. The incident in question being breaking into the PRT headquarters to break out Lung. Which failed for... obvious reasons.
Yesterday I had Dad leave the docks area altogether. The entire place is completely unsafe right now. And that was even before the kidnapping reports came through! Holy shit! This entire situation is beyond the pale. There hasn't been any mention of forced child soldiers yet, but that could be because they're just bad at anything other than sitting down and crying. They're still missing along with their parents.
Based.Oh, and I guess attacking PRT headquarters is actually a big deal, but I cannot bring myself to care.
Unsurprising...I brought Lisa over to look.
"Hey are you going to let me look over the other rooms today?"
"Nope."
And she decided to get those extra eyes instead of just never touching it? Progress."So I got this new room here. Didn't think it was very smart to touch it at all until I had an extra set of eyes here with me."
I would have assumed that there would be a lot more selection criteria based on biome conditions? The portal itself was actually really simple. An oval demarcated with some sort of metallic material, and a fancy thermostat looking thing off to the side. I press the power button, and two options pop up on the screen.
Open PortalWith the location chooser being grayed out.
Choose Location
"Shall we?" I ask dramatically. She looks at me and opens the portal herself. It makes my eyes hurt for a split second, and suddenly I'm looking out into a deciduous forest.
I assume that this should read "Contracts".I look back at the portal once I'm through. What I see is a floating ring of metal encasing the portal. I touch it, more out of curiosity than anything, and it constructs and deactivates with a strange whirring sound, falling to the forest floor.
It'd honestly just be landing with finesse instead of a splatter; not important at all really, or at least not for her.Should I practice parkour when I get back? Nah, I have enough on my plate as is.
I feel like Taylor here, who has the strength of at least twenty teenage girls, the leverage of god, as many diamond-sharp teeth (a la Macuahuitl or Piranha teeth, presumably to use like a manual chainsaw) as she can make, all a order of magnitude better at cutting then should be possible, and the ability to corrode through things at will, and a times-two-hundred/times-one-thousand crafting-speed multiplier, should have been able to clear a trail a bit more quickly then that."Sure sure, just cut is a way through all this green crap. All these stupid plants are a menace, I swear." Yeah, wherever we are is pretty wild and untamed. Cutting through takes way too long. We found a game trail that cut down on travel time, but not by much. Travel still took an hour all told. In the city walking down the street it would've taken ten twenty minutes tops walking at even a civilian's pace.
Bear meat is apparently unpalatable, because they taste like their diets, but that could have been a bear-skin rug.We also bumped into a brown bear. Stupid thing tried to eat us immediately, but some acid to the mouth immediately dissuaded it. Weird. Aren't brown bears usually skittish of humans?
Well that's somewhat less useful then it could have been, but alright."Well son of a bitch, this is Brocton Bay untouched by human hands."
What was that meant to be? Analyzing atmospheric conditions for human-made pollution? [Negotiator] noticing something about the sun/stars/atmosphere that indicates that it's infinite?"So what, are we in the past or something?"
"No, no that's ridiculous. Hold on let me..." As she looks around. She stops talking as she looks up though. ...And just stops like that with her eyes dilating to pinpricks. Son of a bitch, did the red crystalline thing follow me here? I look up into the sky only to see a clear sunny sky. The fuck?
"Yo Earth to Lisa, you there?" As I snap my fingers a couple times. "Hellloooooo..." I wave my hand in front of her face.
"Ah shit!" As she staggers backwards.
"You okay there? You weren't responding for a few seconds."
"Yeah I'm fine. I just got a... thinker headache for a second there. Taylor I think we're on an alternate earth."
That's the sort of vague understanding that I'd expect from this particular Taylor. Maybe a bit undermined by a incongruous lack of economic knowledge.I think back to the barely remembered lesson on Professor Haywire.
"This is one of those things that sounds good in theory, but is horrifically bad for me in practice, right?"
"Very accurate."
What, along with every other thing in the world?"Goody, yet another thing to lock away and never think about again."
Bitch you are a Nazarickian Slime; dissolve the skin that's stuck to the door, pick her up, and fuck right off.Taking Lisa away from there and to the exit brings me close to the storage wing. Where we notice an addition that has popped up in our absence.
"This wasn't here when we came in, was it Lisa."
"It was not, no." The addition in question is a large circular vault door with a whole shitload of culty symbols arranged in a circle on it. They look to be painted in fresh blood, with a label on top that reads 'Anvil'.
"All right let's see what this is about." As she wanders up close to it. She then makes the horrific mistake of touching it. At which point she drops to her knees, her eyes start glowing, and she starts talking in a distorted voice.
"This messenger of Khorne brings tribute to the newest Celestial Forgemaster."
"Holy fucking shit!! Lisa!! Are you okay!?" As I run up to her.
"An anvil of unparalleled smithing prowess." I try to wrench her hand away from the door to no avail. It's stuck tight, and all I'm doing is bruising her arm.
"Merely sacrifice any kind of sorcerer, local variants included, and this anvil shall forge their very souls into a weapon that contains all their power." I'm reduced to glaring at whatever bullshit this is. I'm not gonna hurt Lisa, and I'm not touching the door, so I'm sort of at a loss here.
"I shall give you back your pet oracle." As whatever this is is turns her head to face me. "Do with her whatever you will~" And she goes limp, no longer stuck to the door and no longer with glowing eyes. I catch her before she cracks her head on the floor.
"Lisa are you alright?" Her head lolls a little bit before she comes to. Her gaze locks to the door behind us before
"AAAAAAAUUUGGHH!!" screaming incoherently and desperately scrabbling away. I let her of course, but that may have been a mistake as she smacks herself into the doorframe trying to run away. A problem caused by her sight being locked onto the vault door. To her credit she recovers and leaves in short order, screaming all the while.
Never mind; back to uselessness.I close the door and rub the strain out of my eyes. Maybe I should rethink this whole killing people thing.
Practical shape I suppose.I look to the door and the blood on it has dried, oxidized, and partially flaked away in the time it took her to run away. Well that isn't creepy at all, is it? I move up to touch that door. Normally behavior that gets black people killed in horror movies, but I can just detach any connecting surface from my greater body to cut my losses if it comes to that. Thankfully, nothing happens to me like what happened to Lisa.
I open the door to find... Well I guess it's in the shape of an anvil, but it's sized more like a sacrificial altar complete with little rivulets for blood draining. It's also just covered in the cultiest fucking symbols you ever did see, glowing and pulsating with power. And the walls, I'm not sure if they're better or worse! Covered with glowing red murals of abstract slaughter. I'm not sure if it's of a champion cutting down an army or a berserker murdering innocents, but either way it's making me angry.
Oh, cool, it's got a secondary benefit; just straight up quality-improvement for anything that can be forged by hammer. Might be a thought to make a knife-set or something. Maybe also a pan? Even if it needs to be a weapon pans are probably weaponizable enough.Khorne's Anvil (Warhammer Fantasy: Warriors of Chaos) (600CP)
This massive anvil is a one of a kind gift from the Master of Murder, completely engraved with the markings of Khorne. It will seem like it is otherwise unassuming until you begin creating weapons on it. Weapons that are hammered into shape in this anvil will be of masterwork quality regardless of the metals used, and they are eternally sharp and will never wear and tear. But this is not the greatest gift of the anvil. Khorne is willing to use the souls of magic users who are sacrificed on the anvil to grant a weapon a magic effect that reflects the magical strength of the mage that was sacrificed on it...with no limits. This may seem hypocritical for Khorne, but Khorne believes that magic weapons made from a subjugated mage is perhaps the greatest example of might over magic, and the weapon's existence confirms his ideals.
Yeah, probably a decent idea.I should probably go retrieve Lisa before she hurts herself too.
Depends whether they're effecting their environment or each other. If you mix Grimderp with Grimderp, does it make a noblebright setting or just Grimderp²?
I mean, Khorne would point that out regardless of whether it was true; Chaos likes their cheap insinuations like that. Also points out how possessive Taylor is of her lisa. After all big daddy murder skull collector referred to her as Taylor's Oracle. Yup this will hopefully teach her some caution. Still annoyed she just ignores all the shit she gets from the forge
Well it could have been worse, it could have been some kinda artifact of Tzeench. No way in hell it would ever let Lisa go. Let's just hope this doesn't direct the winds of magic to Brockton Bay. As that would be, bad.
She can probably just Plentimaw that shit. She can probably do the same thing with most objects capable of fitting in her throat. So, what I'm hearing is that if she sacrifices a Parahuman she gets a sword with their powers?
If she does two at once for the same weapon does she get a combo-power? Like, morals aside, Jack Slash and Flechette for a sword that can cut through anything at infinite range.
That...Actually makes sense. Huh.You know, chaos influence is one of the few things that might cause scion to show up in Brockton Bay, he is specifically ment to deal with external treats to the cycle, which this very much classifies as
Tinker-abilities might translate oddly, given that Tinker-abilities are focused on instructions and capabilities rather then directly supplying resources...Then again, weapons that whisper secret knowledge to people are pretty common in Warhammer. To be fair though, Bakuda would be a very flexible snackrifice to Khorne's Anvil. A grenade launcher that can produce any grenade?
Not even that dissimilar to how Warhammer magic works anyway.Unless I'm badly misremembering, there's explicit WoG to the effect that the Entities do not have access to magic. And even if they did have magic, that magic isn't coming from the host parahuman themself, it's coming from their shard/agent, so sacrificing the parahuman on the anvil still wouldn't accomplish much, in any case.
EDIT: Just noticed OR saying that the anvil will work, oops
Maybe, but the workshop does have a connection to the Empyrean now. Chaos energy does like to leak through portals, which the workshop also has now.Nah; the Eight Winds Of Magic are from a specific source, which doesn't exist in Earth Bet; that shit's effectively quarantined for now.
Probably good for at least recycling Coil. Maybe also the Empire members; Othala could be useful for healing people.
Yeah, maybe. It wouldn't have any local resources to convert though, so it'd have a bitch-and-a-half of a time doing it.Maybe, but the workshop does have a connection to the Empyrean now. Chaos energy does like to leak through portals, which the workshop also has now.
Might have gotten stained with a bit of Earthbound Magic yeah. I'm sure that she could figure out how to remove it though. Also Lisa touched a chaos artifact, with zero protections. That's asking for a mutation.
Khorne would twist magical abilities like that wouldn't he? Fheck, there go the Timelines...A weapon that lets you attack in two different ways at once, and whichever one they don't block is the "real" one.
Or to the enemy if she's particularly bored.Don't forget that Othala can give out regeneration, invulnerability, and super-speed. A weapon that grants those to the wielder would be insane.
Hold de fhecken phone. I think that the Perk description might not have been missing a word; I think that it might have meant that it grants a magical ability to a weapon, instead of granting a weapon with a magical ability.Unfortunately not one wytch, one weapon.
Combo weapons are what the mouths are for!
She'd probably come back to raid dog-fighting rings. She'd probably also want a few shelters around the place. They'd never get Bitch and her dogs out of there if they moved them there. One good thing though is that Bitch would have to scout around and scavage for food.
Dey take er jurdb! If you mix Grimderp with Grimderp, does it make a noblebright setting or just Grimderp²?
Nobody here is complaining about Optimal Robotics not making use of resources.Which is it, you want to complain about Taylor not making use of resources, or you want to complain about WoGs about our of context meaning shit in a story that turned basic omni-existence across timelines and turned it into a very neat 'view coil's simulations' narrative device?
Just take the W assuming Taylor ever uses it.
He did? That's as fascinating as it is hilarious. There's an entire section of his realm known as the Soul Forges.
Angron beat a Slaaneshi Daemon Prince with an bar of iron until it became the Blade of the False Gladiator.
Pretty much the stories premise, and thus not something viable to complain about.Just caught up with the story! Enjoying it, but it's honestly getting depressing how many amazing tinker powers she's getting and completely ignoring for no good reason
Unless she gets into Tzeentche's grip... She is exactly what he looks for in his priests and champions...I shouldn't laugh.
I really shouldn't laugh...but after reading so many fics with various flavours of smug/manipulative/smug/bitchy/did-I-mention-smug Lisa? It's deeply satisfying to see one have an encounter that might just teach her restraint.
Most Thinkers do; that's generally how one Triggers with those sort of abilities.Unless she gets into Tzeentche's grip... She is exactly what he looks for in his priests and champions...
